If your vacation plans include first class sightseeing and total relaxation, this old family beach vacation home is ideal. The home is right on front beach and has been in the Walker family for over 70 years. Although renovated, it still retains the old beach cottage charm. Our rental unit is a completely separate 1000 sq ft lower apartment. It has two bedrooms, one bath, living room/dining room combo, and complete kitchen. One bedroom has one double bed and the second bedroom has two double beds. An enclosed porch extends across the entire front of the apartment, and the whole apartment including the porch has central heat and air. A cement walk runs from the porch to the beach. Many guests marvel at seeing dolphins, pelicans, seagulls, shrimp trawlers, and listening to the sounds of the ocean. The apartment is completely furnished except for towels .The apartment is ideal for one or two couples or one couple with up to four children. No smoking. No pets. No parties.

Other Activities: In addition to normal beach activities, a 1000ft public fishing pier and local shops and restaurants are located only one mile away. So you can either just relax and enjoy the ambiance of beach living or take a short 20 minute drive into0 downtown historic Charleston with great sightseeing and wonderful restaurants. Also, there are several good golf courses, including a municipal, within a 20 minute drive.

Quaint apartment on the beach

This apartment is quaint and old-fashioned. The setting is perfect for a beach getaway and the apartment had everything we needed for a short stay in Folly Beach. Rooms were not fancy, but were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Pat made us feel very welcome and she provides paper goods, some condiments, soaps, etc. which were very appreciated.

Post-Christmas Vacation at Folly Beach

We loved our stay here! Mrs. Walker met us when we arrived and made certain we had everything we needed. She was wonderfully gracious and kind. The house is an older one and has been very well-renovated and was super-clean. The Walkers provided everything we needed including toilet paper, paper-towels, coffee filters, linens, towels, etc. We left behind some paper products to replenish some of what we used.

The rental is on the bottom floor of the house, yet it still offers beach/water views including an excellent view of the sunrise in winter. It is a true "beach front" cottage and only a short walk across the grassy yard to the sand/beach. Our children particularly loved the porch swing on the enclosed (warm/HVAC) front porch; we stayed in winter, so this was great!

The house is exactly 1 mile from "downtown" Folly Beach which made for an excellent walk/bike ride along the beach or quiet back-road with the reward of coffee and food at the end. The road in front of the house (Arctic Ave.) is a two-lane road with only one-way traffic. This beach road is was very smooth-surfaced, making it a perfect place for our two kids (and me) to learn how to ride the new Longboard/Skateboard.

The heating system worked wonderfully keeping us warm and the house appears very well-insulated as there were no drafts and very little sound from cars passing by. The windows all worked well (with screens) for opening and airing out the rooms when desired.

The only drawback (not for us) is that if you are accustomed to large palatial rooms in those new McMansion beach houses, you'll find this different. This is a step back in time to when families spent time more close together in bungalows. But this is actually what we enjoyed about the house. There was plenty of room for our family of 4. There was ample room to move around the kitchen; the meal table was good-sized; the TV worked well and got any channel you could ever want; there was plenty of room in both bedrooms for us to rest and place our belongings; and the HVAC-conditioned front porch with swing gave us a second living room for book-reading while others watched TV.

We would definitely stay here again and we hope the Walkers would have us back! We hope Mr. Walker is feeling better as he had a cold and we didn't get to meet him.

The best little rental on Folly Beach

My best friend and I just spent a wonderful week in the best little oceanfront apartment. We have been going to Folly every Spring for the past 23 years. We have rented many homes, condos and apartments. But this year, I stumbled onto this little gem, and we have found our home! This little apartment has everything you could ever need on your vacation. It is clean, the location is great, great views, and the owners Pat and Russell are a wonderful hosts. We have definitely deemed this adorable apartment the only place we want to stay! It was great!!! We will be back!!!

A charming beach cottage

This was the perfect "girls getaway" The beach house was charming

and comfortable. It was very clean and everything (except towels),

was provided. The location is perfect, with a lovely view and easy

access to the ocean. We especially enjoyed watching the kite surfers . Folly Beach has a number of fun restaurants. Downtown

Charleston is a short drive for many more restaurants and fun things

to do. The Walkers are great and a pleasure to do business with.

We thoroughly enjoyed out Labor Day stay!

This charming Folly Beach oceanfront cottage was so comfortable and close to the ocean. The owners have so many extras included and we only brought a few towels. I will return to this east coast haven to relax and read on the beach and wake up early to see the sun rise! I am very grateful, this cottage exceeded my expectations! Thank you :)
