Private villa, private heat-pump heated pool, with sea views.

Bedrooms 3
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6 plus cot, private pool, sea views

'Casa Mariposa' is a single storey villa, with parking, 5 minutes from the sea, found in a private residential area.

It has 3 double bedrooms, the master with king-size bed and en suite bathroom. 2 further twin-bedded rooms with family bathroom.

The spacious lounge has light, modern, leather furniture and includes a large TV, satellite, DVD, video, iPod dock with charger and CD player.

The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge/ freezer, microwave, washing machine, spin dryer, tumble dryer and dishwasher and includes solid green marble work surfaces and table.

The villa's veranda has quality dining furniture and enjoys wide sea views.

The pool is 9m x 4m and the terrace is provided with 6 sun loungers. The private pool is heated both by solar panels and titanium heat pump for year-round swimming.

There is an outdoor brick built barbecue.

For security there is a safe, and all windows have shutters and locks.

WIFI is present throughout the villa and garden.

The swimming pool.: The private swimming pool (9metres by 4 metres) is extra special. Before purchasing Casa Mariposa, we stayed in various properties which had 'heated' pools. We soon realised that solar heated pools are not really warm enough or very comfortable. Consequently, when we purchased Casa Mariposa, we installed a titanium heat pump, a top class system, which keeps the temperature perfect. The water is therefore wonderful. As you slide into the pool, you realise how much better the pool is for swimming and the more time spent in the pool, the fitter one feels. We are sure visitors to Casa Mariposa will feel the benefits too.

The luxury kitchen: The kitchen is truly superior. Many properties, similar to ours, still have the original kitchen. We found this far too small. We therefore, extended the kitchen, doubling its size, to enable us to create an eating space and to install all the modern appliances, washing machine, dishwasher and separate tumble dryer, needed to ensure that the time spent at Casa Mariposa, was truly relaxing. We have an enormous amount of storage space, allowing for shopping to be bought and stored, for the holiday, without the need to visit a supermarket every day, saving yet another intrusion into leisure time. The kitchen units are in a high gloss white, continuing the theme of lightness, found throughout the house. The work surfaces are green granite and sparkle with the natural highlights found in real stone, rather than those of a synthetic nature. The coffee machine, oven and microwave as well as a halogen hob, enable everything from breakfast to supper, to be prepared with ease and enjoyment.

Booking Conditions.: The rental rates are for up to 4 people. Please add £70 per person per week for up to 6 people.

A security deposit is required of £200 at the time of booking. This is refunded, after the holiday, on the return of the key.

The full rental payment is due 8 weeks before departure.

Full payment not received by the due date will be treated as a cancellation with the security deposit forfeited.

Cancellations during the 8 weeks before departure will be refunded as follows: 8-4 weeks 50% refund, 4-2 weeks 25% refund, less than 2 weeks no refund.

The rental runs from 3.00 p.m. on the arrival day till 10.00 a.m. on the departure day.

Possible changes to the departure time may be discussed with our agent on the island.

About Contact via e-mail only please

My husband and I bought this property as our silver wedding anniversary present to ourselves. Although we were both London-born, we have lived or worked in various countries including Germany, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Singapore, Brazil and now have our home in south-west France.

Contact via e-mail only please purchased this villa in 2002

Why Contact via e-mail only please chose Playa Blanca

The enduring beauty of this property is its location, near the sea front but in a quiet area of Playa Blanca, itself a calm resort. As a wonderful place for relaxation and a chance to recharge one's batteries, it is still easy to find and visit all the vibrant places in Lanzarote, knowing that serenity awaits on your return to your holiday home.

What makes this villa unique

Number one among so many unique benefits is the fully heated pool, all year round, at no extra cost to guests. Even in the cooler evenings of the winter season, when the sunny days are followed by fresher nights, the pool is still warm and luxurious. Many guests have said that they could not believe how easy it was to enter the pool and that they would return for that reason alone aswell as all the other extras. The whole house has been fitted out with all the modern appliances you would have at home including dishwasher, washing machine and tumble-dryer. Who wants to go on holiday and return home exhausted from needing to do everything manually? Certainly not me!!! Hopefully, all these features will allow everyone to return home after their holiday as refreshed us!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your villa. After the storm on our first night, the weather was great. We spent most of our time by the pool as it was so lovely and warm. We are trying to persuade our son to let us take our grandson with us next year.

Fantastic private villa with the benefit of distant sea views & easy walking distance to town

  • 5 of 5

We rented Casa Mariposa for 10 days and had a lovely stay. There were five adults and a baby and we chose this villa because of its proximity to local amenities, as well as distant sea views (many villas only have one or the other of these!).

We also liked the price, which is great value. This is possibly reflected in the fact that the villa doesn't have all the 'mod cons' that some do (e.g. fans rather than central heating), but it is perfectly comfortable, clean, spacious and peaceful.

There are 3 bedrooms, a large lounge with more than enough seating, and a large cool terrace where we ate. The tv has Sky so we were able to watch the BBC news and English films, and the book shelf is well stocked. There is also a useful safe in the villa. There is a water park nearby (very handy if you have kids), which took up some of the sea view, but we were still able to enjoy sitting on the terrace and seeing the blue sea sparkling in the distance. Our daughter was very happy with the highchair and cot that was provided and enjoyed listening for the birds nearby.

The pool is a few steps down from the terrace and is delightful. It's cleaned regularly and the water is as warm as advertised, making for very pleasant swimming! There were only four sun loungers, but as we didn't all want to sunbathe at the same time, this was never a problem.

We walked in to Playa Blanca every day or evening. The nearest Spar is about a 15 minute walk along a flat road (no hills); there are some bars and restaurants starting just before that Spar, and then many many more from there and along the seafront promenade. There was plenty of choice for lovely seafront places to eat or drink, and we enjoyed sampling lots of them!

The Marina is at the far side of Playa Blanca and well worth a visit on a Wednesday or Saturday for the market. We drove there, but I believe it's about a 45 minute walk from Casa Mariposa. Playa Blanca generally has a lovely atmosphere, friendly people, and a beautiful sea front.

I often like to go to different places for my holidays, but if I were to return to Playa Blanca I would definitely be looking up this villa to stay in again. I've given five stars out of five because of the great value for money, there may be other villas out there with more mod cons, but they are also much more expensive! Thank you!

Fantastic Villa

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in many villas in Playa Blanca, Villa Mariposa exceeded all expectations. The villa itself is well equipped and had everything our family with two small children required to ensure we had a fabulous holiday. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the lovely playa flamingo beach. The outside space is great and most importantly the pool is very very warm. The owner is an absolute pleasure to deal with, prompt and efficient and will answer all your enquiries. We will definitely be back!

The perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two daughters and myself have just returned from two great weeks at Mariposa. Lanzarote is a great place to holiday and we will definately be going back, although we did get out and about , we didn't want to leave the villa, it is so comfortable and accommodating.

Playa Blanca is a great holiday location, it was not busy and very relaxing. We ate out almost every night, the restaurants were inexpensive and the food excellent, in particular the Brisa Marina on the promenade, we ordered the meat for two on a hot stone, what arrived was lots of little steaks on a plate, you cook these yourself at the table, a great evening. Also the Great world chinese restaurant on the promenade, the staff are very entertaining, far too much to eat, but we were able to take the leftovers home, take away style.

There is plenty to do and see in Lanzarote, it has not been spoiled by tourism and the scenery is breathtaking, Our first week was very breezy, this was great as it allowed us to get out sightseeing.

The villa itself is situated just outside the main resort, we had a car and drove everywhere, but you could easily walk, if this is your thing! The local beach, Playa Flamingo is close by, not busy, a few cafes/restaurants, great for a coffee. The sea was freezing but enjoyable once you were in, we had been spoilt by the pool at the villa. There wasn't one time that we couldn't just get in the pool, even at night it was warm, the heating does make all the difference. The pool area is totally private. The villa is next to the main road into Playa Blanca, sitting on the verandah you can see the sea and Fueturentura, the island does not have alot of traffic, the roads are well planned and maintained and everywhere is well signposted.

The villa is very spacious and could easily accomodate six people, the beds are very comfortable, there is plenty of storage space . The villa is well equipped and provides everything you could possibly need and more. The villa is decorated well, on hot nights it was great to have the doors/windows open, the shutters locked, this allowed air in, but kept the bugs out, this always helped with good nights sleep, no need for air con or a fan. Both showers in the villa are great, very powerful and refreshing. This is a great villa, in a great location, the owner, Glenda, helped make our holiday the best ever and we would highly recommend Casa Mariposa and Lanzarote for your holiday, thank you Glenda for allowing us to stay at your villa

Looking forward to our next visit!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time back to Casa Mariposa and once again we were delighted with our stay. We generally arrive late yet we always manage to skip down to Playa Flamingo and catch a late night fish supper or pizza at one of the local restaurants. As usual we spent more time in the pool than doing anything else - wonderfully warm and lots of fun, our 5 year old son actually learnt to swim here a couple of years ago in this very pool! Grilling out and cooking at home is always high on our list and easy here with the facilities available. We were here to support my sister in the Lanzarote Ironman event and it is a fantastic time of year to come if you like it hot and sporty! There is loads to do if you can get out the pool - tonnes of arts and culture and if you like wine - even better!! During this visit we ventured up to Famara for some surfing - a massive expanse of beach with great surf, we also visited Femmes - a tiny village up in the volcanic mountains, not too far away with simply stunning views over looking Playa Blanca and its surroundings. We ate at a local restaurant "Casa Emiliano' - excellent local food and wine - highly recommended and as I had my parents with us happy to babysit it was a lovely romantic evening out!! Casa Mariposa is a perfect family retreat and an excellent base to explore Lanzarote and we're very much looking forward to our next visit.

Casa Mariposa, Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

  • 5 of 5

The most wonderful thing about this villa is the pool. At 30 degrees, our family spent most of the week in it. We agreed that we would return based on this alone.

The villa is in a perfect location for walking to the beach, restaurants etc. For shopping, we simply walked across the road to a taxi, otherwise walked and used the bus from around the corner to the villa. It was lovely looking at the views from the terrace. Montana Roja is well worth the climb, and again, there's no need for a car to get there.

We recomment Lani's restaurant in Marina Rubicon for excellent seafood paella.

Correspondence with the owner was prompt and very helpful. All in all, a great villa, amazing pool, wonderful weather and I would definitely recommend it.

Car: not necessary

The villa is on the west side of Playa Blanca centre, adjacent to the main coastal avenue. The garden and pool are hidden behind high, thick, lava walls for privacy. The beach, town, harbour and all facilities are within walking distance. A car is not essential but may help you see the other pleasures of the island. Playa Blanca, situated on the south of the island, was once a small fishing village but has since been developed into a vibrant resort. The sea promenade and pedestrianised town centre are home to many excellent restaurants and cafés as well as supermarkets, clothes, jewellery and gift shops. There is plenty to do and enjoy but the resort does not suffer from the presence of loud, intrusive visitors. The whole town feels friendly and calm and is a great place in which to relax and unwind. Fuerteventura is only half an hour away by hydrofoil from the port of Playa Blanca. There are also the beautiful white, sandy beaches of Papagayo, not far along the coast.
