About the property

Sunny, spacious, luxury bathroom, lush garden, private entrance, quit location

On the picturesque ancient 17th century Buiksloterdijk in Amsterdam North is our beautifully located garden studio of 50m2 (860 sq. Ft.).

It is an oasis of peace and yet only 10 minutes by bike from Amsterdam center or 6 minutes by bus three stops to Amsterdam Central Station, the middle of town. In fact you are much closer to the city center than most other places in Amsterdam.

The Buiksloterdijk used to be the place where the Dutch East India Company retired captains. The houses where called 'the captains heaven'. The water of the IJ river That runs through Amsterdam used to come right to the house. Now it is a polder.

Its like being close to the buzzing scene of Amsterdam and still feel like you're in the countryside. That is why this location is one of the most Sought after locations or Amsterdam.

The view is beautiful. Overlooking the North Holland Canal. Known cycling and walking routes through rural North and Waterland go directly fits our house.

In front of the house (50m) is the Noorderpark and its brand new (2015) indoor / outdoor swimming pool.

PARKING IS FREE right in front of the house; the bus stop to Amsterdam Central is a few minutes walking away. The bus takes 6 minutes to get to the Central Station (only 3 stops). By car you drive through the IJ tunnel in 5 minutes to reach the center of the town (Waterloo) with ample parking garages.

By bike just follow the cycle path in front of our house to the end and you are at the FREE ferry in seven minutes. The ferry runs every 5/10 minutes day and night. The trip across takes two minutes. On the other side you are at the Central Station.

Ook You could walk to the ferry. It is a beautiful stroll along the canal NH.

Walking distance just 25 minutes.

Amsterdam North is the new buzzing district for art, film and specialty restaurants, zoals the IJkantine Stork Hotel or the Golden Pheasant. The NDSM area is presently the cultural hotspot of Amsterdam. You could walk there from our house.

Around the corner from our house, at the canal, is a small cafe where cakes, muffins, juices and ice cream are available. In the evening you can enjoy a home cooking meal at a very reasonable price.

A small supermarket is at 150m, a Dutch bakery at 300m and a big supermarket Albert Heijn is at 800m.

1km away is the 18-hole golf course Amsterdam-Waterland.

PARKING IS FREE in our street. Very unusual in Amsterdam, where you almost can not find a parking space and the rates are in excess of € 5 per hour.

The studio features a living / sleeping area, kitchenette (with refrigerator, Nespresso coffee machine, electric cooker and microwave), a luxurious bathroom with sauna (supplement or € 15 for 2 persons for 3 hrs) and a separate toilet.

The studio HAS floor heating. Large windows overlook a lush garden, designed by Ellen. There is a king size bed or 2.00 x 1.80 m, a spacious seating area and dining table.

The terrace on ground level is ook only for you, as is the lounge area in the garden.

Free fast wireless Internet is included.

As you hosts -we live in the home ourselves- we are happy to assist you with tips, online tickets and other questions you might have.

Staying in Garden View Apartment is an experience!

Quiet, chilled apartment with a great bed and bathroom

  • 5 of 5

This house is part of collection of similar properties that have been carefully renovated and sits just next to a park and new swimming pool complex. The metro is due to be opened nearby this month (July 2018) but busses are nearby and you can walk to the ferry in about 25 minutes. The garden flat is spacious, well appointed and the owners are both helpful and discrete.

Beautiful apartment, lovely garden, gracious hosts

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely apartment in Amsterdam Nord for about 5 days. We were so happy to be away from the activity in the center. Renee was a knowledgeable and helpful hosts, helping us locating the markets, bike rental etc...Ellen s garden was enchanting. The espresso was a nice treat. Thank you!

Pleasant apartment in peaceful Amsterdam Noord

  • 3 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at Rene and Ellen's apartment. You feel like you're out in the Dutch countryside but in reality you can be in Centrum in about 10 minutes (by motorbike).

The dwelling was clean and nicely appointed. The neighborhood felt really safe, and is idyllic with parks and trails surrounding the home. We spent a lot of time hanging out in the backyard which felt like an elfin retreat with tiny paths meandering down to a narrow canal.

The bed was comprised of two mattresses abutting one another. The linens were clean and of good quality. The kitchen is small but good enough to prepare basic meals. The fridge is the coldest one I've ever encountered in Amsterdam.

Highly recommended lodging outside the bustle of Amsterdam Centrum.

beautiful out-of-the city apartment

  • 4 of 5

My sister and I recently spent 4 days in Amsterdam at the lovely garden apartment of Rene and Ellen. While the weather was awful (nothing they could do about that!)we enjoyed our time here. The apartment was clean and well-appointed and Rene was fabulous about responding to any issues we had. The garden was beautiful although rain kept us out of it:). It is a little ways out of the main part of Amsterdam but that was also a nice thing to come back to: peace and quiet out of the city. We would highly recommend this choice for anyone who wants more of a neighborhood than a inner city experience.

Wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend-bus very convenient to the train station/bus station just a pleasant walk away. It is not in the city center but in a neighborhood, which we love. There was a quirky local place a few doors away that we really enjoyed and a great little Thai restaurant several blocks away that we stopped at twice. A yummy bakery is also in the neighborhood.

There are several coffee makers in the kitchen and he had nice little treats in the fridge for us. The outdoor space is lovely and the bed and linens were fresh and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water for our showers and he offers a laundry service which we utilized right before we left.

René was very helpful, we arrived early and that wasn’t a problem and he helped us get a car for the airport on our departure day, in addition to letting us leave our bags there for the day (evening flight out).

Amsterdam was amazing and we really enjoyed our visit.
