About Sarah and John Dixon

We are a young English family who have holidayed in Provence for years and liked it so much we bought a home here.

Sarah and John Dixon purchased this house in 2012

Why Sarah and John Dixon chose Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

The clear blue sky, stars at night, wonderful food and wine produced locally, the friendly people, and so many amenities within the town of St Remy, the amazing history of this area, and above all the climate and lifestyle provides lifetime memories every vacation. This is our family holiday home - we hope you love it as much as we do

What makes this house unique

We love relaxing by the pool, sitting in the shade and reading a book. Wednesday market is a must - fresh produce for the week - we cook at home and enjoy with some local wine of course. In the afternoons we walk into town and enjoy the seasonal activities. We can walk from our home up through the Alpilles; there are so many routes and we admire the landscape as Cezanne and Van Gogh did. We visit the many nearby villages and dine out in so many excellant local eateries - on our return we sit back and relax in our beautiful home and enjoy some local digestifs!

Wonderful St. Remy villa!

  • 5 of 5

I recently spent 2 lovely weeks at the Dixon's St. Remy home. (The first 2 weeks of August.) Both weeks we had 10 people in the house ranging from 1-70 years of age. Everyone was comfortable, happy, and the house is spacious enough that we were never on top of each other.

We spent mornings drinking coffee and most nights BBQing on the beautiful covered terrace. Again, it had plenty of space for 10 of us to eat and not be crowded.

The pool was perfect - salt water and very refreshing! We also played a lot of table tennis and boules (our own) on the lawn.

The kitchen is well equipped and the living room and bedrooms are all very comfortable and nicely decorated.

St. Remy is a 15-20 minute walk away and has lots of local and unique shops, cafes and restaurants. The Wednesday market is also great for local produce and gifts.

There's also a boulangerie between the villa and town, which was great to pop to to stock up on baguettes and croissants! (It is very popular so go early!!)

We visited a few of the neighboring villages, vineyards and ruins - Maillane, Arles, Chateau Neuf du Pape...to name a few. We were also lucky to see the village festival of horses and bull runs. This area is not short of beautiful places to see and visit.

We had a wonderful time and plan to return in the future!

Dream trip to Provence

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an amazing time at this beautiful home in Saint Remy. Each summer our family finds a home that is centrally located to many places we'd like to visit. This was a great base for exploring Provence. We even ventured as far away as a Nice and Monte Carlo on a day trip. We visited many wineries around the area. Spent one day at the lavender farms and museum. Another in Avignon. Another in Les Baux. Make sure you are in Saint Remy on a Wednesday for the open market which is fabulous. In Saint Remy there are so many wonderful restaurants and shops. Don't miss the cemetery, some of our best photographs from the trip were taken there. That Abbey where van Gogh stayed for a year is definitely worth a visit. We shopped at the local food markets and cooked many nights at home. One night we grilled out. We thoroughly enjoyed the sparkling pool and playing ping-pong. The Internet was great, never any problems connecting. We would love to come back to this home. It has everything you needed for a great holiday.

Beautiful Home in Every Respect!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a week at this lovely home in July 2018. The photos on the website are beautiful, and the house is every bit as nice as the photos. No disappointments at all. Everything in the house and garden was spotless and in immaculate condition. We cooked most dinners and were very happy to find nice pots and pans, dishes, etc. It was very hot during our week, but the house stayed nice and cool.

The owners were very easy to communicate with and replied promptly to every email.

Saint Remy is a very nice town and was not as crowded as we expected. The location of the house is perfect - close to a delicious bakery, wine shop, produce market, newsstand and supermarket, as well as the town.

I cannot imagine a nicer place to stay in Provence.

Pictures do not do justice to this property

  • 5 of 5

I am often hesitant to trust online descriptions and reviews and to pay for something before actually seeing it for myself, however in this case I can heartily recommend this property for a vacation rental. We were a group of 8 adults traveling for fun and to celebrate a big birthday and wedding anniversary. We were all incredibly pleased with our choice. The house and property is beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable , and so well maintained. It is in a great location, easy access to both St Remy (easy walk into town) as well as so many other sights in the area. There is also a great bakery very close by that we visited nearly every morning. Sarah was very responsive to any question or concern I had prior to our trip as was Carine while we were there. We found a chef in the area who provided a drop off meal that was fabulous. Sarah provided excellent direction so it was easy to find even though all of us were unfamiliar to the area. Carine was flexible enough to accommodate our extremely early departure due to early flights. We had a really great time. I can definitely recommend this property.

Relaxing and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful, homely, spacious villa set just a short walk away from the town, tastefully decorated and surrounded with beautiful trees and gardens. The villa is absolutely stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly house keeper who showed us round and we were overwhelmed with the character and space the villa provides as well as the high standards of cleanliness! The nearest town is 15-20mins walk away filled with elegant shops and a wide selection of restaurants, from bistros to brasseries to coffee shops and wine bars - the choice was endless.

Our stay completely exceeded our expectations and we would recommend this villa again and again, especially if you're looking for a fun-filled family holiday. Relaxing and beautiful!
