Secluded and peaceful
We hoped for a quiet weekend getaway, and this home provided it perfectly. Remote location, only the sounds of nature, and no visible neighbors (in fact, didn't see another car on the access road until we were leaving).
It's clear that the homeowner has been working to improve the home, and has created a comfortable getaway with some of the amenities you want. (well-stocked kitchen equipment, very comfortable bed, dual recliners, cable, wifi, DVD selection, etc. )
Our wonderful host responded quickly when we ran into some departure challenges (car trouble), and worked with us to try to modify our reservations. (Thank you!)
Something to note: There is no mobile phone coverage (Verizon) near the house. Consider getting a VOIP app on your phone so you can make calls via the house WiFi while onsite.
Overall, and in spite of the car issues, we had a great stay and would do it again.
Nice location, house with older furniture
We enjoyed the location of the house and driving to it every day through the backroads and woods.
In the house we liked the airco, dishwasher and tv.
Sleeping on the ground floor was ok, sleeping on the lower floor had it's challenges.
Unfortunaly we were there in cricket season and every night my sister had to catch the ones coming into the lower level room through the cracks in the wall, before she could get to sleep.
After we left we got a message of the owner that her service people had said we broke a coffee maker and spilled on the bedding. So she wanted us to pay for that. However we did drink instant coffee, so didn't use the coffee maker and when I asked for details on the spilling on the bedding I got no more info.
She texted us a few times, but we did not want to pay for damages we did not cause. Very unfortunate that a nice stay had to end this way.
Cabin had everything we needed. Location was very scenic and relaxing.
A huge, welcoming cabin in an absolutely beautiful area, with everything you need for a relaxing or adventurous escape. It even has wifi and cable for those who can't disconnect completely, but seems a shame to waste time on that when there are so many wonderful things to explore - and a sky full of stars on a clear night that can't be beat! The property borders the national forest area and Shenandoah is less than an hour away, so the options are limitless as far as activities. If you prefer to relax and just hang out at the cabin then you have everything you could want for cooking a nice meal or home entertainment. We had the most wonderful time and it was a privilege to stay in this place. The owner is very nice and responds quickly if you have any questions. It is pretty remote so there is no trash pickup, but it's a very easy drive to drop off the trash on your way out and there is a dishwasher, but no washer/dryer, so plan to hit a laundromat if needed - but the very small inconvenience is well worth it. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the outdoors, wants to disconnect from the world or wants a special place to reconnect with friends or family.
Cozy home in a beautiful setting
My family (7 of us) really enjoyed our stay in this homey and comfortable house. Pool/ping-pong table on the first floor kept kids entertained. The country side setting is very private and remote, nature sounds only. Thank you!
Fab place to stay
Fab place to stay. It is just as advertised on this site. Would recommend. As we are from the UK some info about local places to visit and maps of local walks would be really helpful.
