B & B in a beautiful villa in the heart of a forest, 10 minutes drive from Roseau, and 5 minutes walk from the heart of the village where you find shops and small local restaurants,
This place puts you in the tropical world with its sounds, birds, beautiful vegetation. The garden includes many fruit trees, as shrubs and flowers typical of Dominica. You will find a beautiful swimming pool with salt and full of little nooks where you can spend a peaceful and refreshing moment in peace.
Sibouli Valley is a strategic location to visit the south and center of the island, as the Roseau Valley and its many sights and excursions. And for lovers of the sea, you are just steps from the beach of Champagne, diving centers and departures tours of whales and other wonders of the sea.
This is a B & B for two people. It is equipped with a queen size bed, a desk / coffee and a wardrobe to store your belongings. The private bath has a large walk in shower and a beautiful massive stone basin. The room has a small fridge and a kettle and a selection of teas and coffee for breakfast. You can take it in your room or in the hut by the pool. The latter is equipped with an outdoor kitchen very pleasant or you can if you want to prepare and enjoy meals or make a BBQ. You can if you prefer to order a "full breakfast" with eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, fruit juice ... which is served in the hut (fee).
Sibouli Valley is tucked away in a secluded valley just south of the town of Castries, where the Express des Îles ferry arrives. The owner had arranged a taxi to meet us which was ideal as the property is hard to find and up a very rough track. It was an ideal place for a few days of relaxation in an area of (relatively ) unspoiled rain forest. We found that we could easily walk down a dried up riverbed to the nearest village where there was a small grocery store and bread shop. From there we also found there were regular shared minibus services into the main town at reasonable cost. The accommodation was OK but not as well maintained or equipped as we had expected. There was a pleasant garden with many humming birds, finches and butterflies. There was also an unfinished concrete swimming pool which provided a refreshing place to cool off, and a small outdoor bar/kitchen to prepare snacks. The owner was very pleasant and unobtrusive.
We felt that with a little care and attention the property and it's surroundings could be greatly enhanced.
Castries is worth a half day visit. There is a well maintained and interesting botanical gardens.
The village of Pointe Michel is a small picturesque village of fishermen and animated and you will find small local bars and restaurants by the sea.
