Lake house on a Point for rejuvination, an active sporting holiday, or both
About Duane Lefevre
The owners are world travelers and you'll see that in their home. Sculptures from Bali, marble tables and hand crafted silk brocade drapes from India, handicrafts from Asia, exotic masks from Africa and art from Peru, Argentina and Colombia. A functional, modern and well-equipped kitchen hints at their love of cooking. The grounds are also a labor of love with elegant paver stones, artfully curved hand-set block walls, flowers and bird feeders all around.

Why Duane Lefevre chose Webster
As a child I spent many summers at my cousins lakeside cabin. It was a place for family and friends to spend time together and have loads of fun. There were always things to do - swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing and plenty of board and card games. After returning from India where I lived for 3 years, I was motivated to reconnect with my family and create a place like I remembered from my childhood. I live in Boston and decided to buy a second home on a lake. Webster lake is only 60 minutes from Boston and from where most of my family lives in central Connecticut. This house is perfect! It's on a point on a dead-end street located at the widest part of central pond (the lake has 3 sections, north pond, middle pond and south pond). It faces east where the sun rises up over the hills and reflects on the lake. Many mornings I wake up early just to see the sunrise and then go back to bed. We have a 30' dock which is great for doing cannonballs off of. You can also access the lake via 3 cement steps. The lake is amazingly clear - you can see the bottom even from the end of the dock. The lake bed is rock but not muddy. The water is about 5' deep at the end of the dock and then drops off a few feet out. Because the water is shallow at the house it warms to 65-70 degrees in the summer. We spend lots of time on the lower patio lounging in the sun, playing games and swimming in the lake. The patio sits below the main floor deck, which is rubberized, allowing use of the patio even on rainy days. The main floor deck gets sun in one spot or another all day. Along the side of the house is a sitting area with a deck swing, table and chairs. I love all the variety of spaces at the house. If you want sun you got it, if you want shade you got it, if you want privacy you got it. I'm happy to say I accomplished my goal of creating a place for family and friends to have fun and spend quality time together.
What makes this House unique
From the first time we sat at the dining room table looking out over the lake we understood the magic of this lake house. The setting is just perfect on the widest part of the largest recreational lake in all of Massachusetts. Its setting at the end of a point that extends into Middle Pond has the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets, please access to the lake. It was a little small to host our large families, so we added an upper level master bedroom suite with second bathroom and expanded the deck and patios. We also upgraded the kitchen and added some other modern touches like Japanese style powered washlet toilets and a centralized Sonos sound system. And now it offers panoramic views, great location, modern amenities, large deck and patio. It’s heaven on Webster Lake!

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful house on Webster Lake! We stayed for Thanksgiving week with relatives coming from New Hampshire and Rhode Island. We used the kitchen extensively with 3 of us cooking at the same time. We brought a lot of our own kitchen things but really needed very few things. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly want and more. We were able to prepare a huge Thanksgiving dinner for 8. The house is also so comfortable and cozy. Just beatiful looking out on the lake. I cant think of anything you would need that was not there. The owner is so nice and very helpful with all our questions. We hope to rent again when we go to visit my daughter .
The house was very clean & beautifully decorated!
We loved the house. All of the amenities were great. I like to cook and enjoyed having everything I needed at my fingertips. We were easily able to enjoy each other’s company in the common areas, but also had plenty of space for down time. I highly recommend!
Webster Lake house. Ideal vacation home.
There were 8 family members in the house and no one felt crowded. The house was clean and welcoming. The owner was attentive to our needs and immediately responsive to questions and concerns. The view was spectacular and peaceful. We all had a wonderful time. The only set-back was getting the downstairs TV to work. Instructions were available but a little too complicated for us to figure out. Otherwise, I would certainly recommend this property. It did not disappoint.
Thanks for the wonderful rating and feedback Nancy. I'm sorry the downstairs TV was too complicated. We've tried to set it up so folks can stream their own Netflix accounts and iPhone content but perhaps we're making it too complicated. We'll have to rethink that.
The house was modern and comfortable. We especially liked the two decks on the water.
My Husband and I very much enjoyed our stay in Webster October 11-14, 2018. The owner was fantastic and very accommodating. He was very responsive to all of our questions. The house was comfortable with all of the modern amenities. Our dog loved it as well.
Thanks for your comments. We're so glad your group and your dog enjoyed our beautiful spot on the lake. Hope to welcome you back some time!
Beautiful lakefront home.
Convenient location, close to grocery store; which is all you needed. Very thoughtful hosts, fresh towels set out on all the beds and a good variety of coffees supplied as a nice bonus. Three nice bedrooms located on separate floors for the ultimate in privacy. I would not recommend it for families with small children due to multiple stairways connecting the levels of the home.
The property is located on Webster Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Massachusetts (17-mile shoreline and 1270 acres). The lake also is also known by a 45 letter name comprising fourteen syllables (the longest place name in the USA): Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. It has an active motor, sail boating and watersports scene. The lake is commonly divided into three smaller bodies of water: North Pond, Middle Pond, and South Pond.
The opposite side of the lake is 5,907-acre Douglas State Forest with miles of woodland trails for hiking. You can also enjoy swimming and boating at Wallum Lake. https://www.mass.gov/locations/douglas-state-forest
There are nearby wineries on Connecticut's wine trail (the closest estate is a 25 minute drive). http://ctwine.com. One of Massachusetts hottest craft breweries is an easy drive in Charlton, MA. Tree House Brewing Company crafts unfiltered IPA's, decadent stouts, and newly invigorated classic styles. The rustic retail shop of this small, artisan brewery has rotating craft beers but has limited hours.
Indian Ranch is a nearby seasonal campground with available rides on one of the few authentic paddle wheel riverboats still in operation in the United States today. The Indian Princess is a modern day replica of the grand riverboats that plied the Mississippi River in the late 19th century. In keeping with early traditions she was built with stern wheels that are her only means of propulsion.
Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is a five-minute drive away and includes NASCAR racing on their 5/8 mile Oval, a 1.7 mile Road Course, a first class Golf Club, our Clubhouse restaurant, exclusive Drivers Club, and an Exotic Car Driving Experience.
