Excruciatingly beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

An amazing cottage in a beautiful corner of a really nice Cotswold village. AND the cottage was thoroughly comfortable as well. Lovely scenery all around us and plenty of good walks. Being winter we avoided the traditional muddy fields by doing most of our walks in Blenheim park. But we did not ignore the pubs!

Owner's Response: I am delighted that the cottage was everything you had hoped it was and provided a comfortable home for the stay here. The walks around here are many and beautiful.

Wish I was still there

  • 5 of 5

Oh what a beautiful cosy cottage. Location was so easy to find and all the Cotswold towns and bleinham palace was within 10 to 15 minutes drive which was perfect. It was brilliant for chilling out, resting and relaxing . Will definitely be returning and ros the owner was an absolute delight to know.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay - Bakehouse is very cosy and comfortable and maintained to a high standard. Ros is the perfect host - nothing was too much trouble. We loved the wood burning stove in the evenings.

Parking to the side is accessed off a narrow lane which can be a little tricky for a large car. We found reversing in to be the easiest solution.

Cottage had everything we needed and even more

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely, cosy and very clean cottage, which had everything we needed.

Rosamund is a fantastic host, who made us feel very welcome. There were Scones, cream, jam and milk when we arrived at the cottage. Arriving late in the evening on a Friday night, she was so kind to phone the nearby pub to make sure we would get something to eat before going to sleep.

The Cottage is a great location for exploring the Cotswolds and Oxford. But it is also a great place to just relax.

Very cozy house!

  • 4 of 5

The old bakehouse is a very cozy place with lots of character. The kitchen is small but well enough equiped to cook a simple meal and close enough to the pub to go for a nice pub meal. Recommended for people who prefer character over modern comfort. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!

Stonesfield is a tranquil village in a picturesque rural setting with rolling hills, woodland and rivers. It is well serviced with village grocery store, Pub serving food, Post Office and Hairdresser. It has a regular bus service and is only 2 miles from a railway station.

If you like old, pretty and historical places it is ideally situated for visiting Cotswold towns and villages such as Burford, The Gateway to The Cotswolds, a charming country market town with lovely old buildings, tea shops and a Wildlife Park.Woodstock is a ten minute drive away and is a pretty little Cotswold town with Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill and stunning grounds to walk in as well as a miniature train to take you to a Maze and children's play area. Other nearby typical old towns are Morton -in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water.

Oxford with its famous University buildings, libraries, theatres and parks is a 20 minute drive and Stratford-on-Avon is 40 minutes where you can visit William Shakespeare's Birthplace, go boating on the river or watch a play at the RSC Theatre or simply wander the streets and enjoy the Tudor timbered buildings and shops.

Stonesfield itself is a great area for walking with the Oxfordshire running past the cottage and a lovely walk through beech woods and fields to a Roman Villa.

If you are a keen shopper then Bicester Village, the famous outlet shopping centre, is a 20 minute drive away.

There are numerous places to eat in Woodstock with a variety of restaurants, cafe's, pubs and tea shops and also surrounding village pubs.
