About this property

The Edgewater ~ New Dock ~ Spectacular Sunrises ~ Lots of Wildlife ~ Waterfront

We have a new private dock with a deck to sit and enjoy the very interesting ever-changing back bayou...tons of birds, fish, propoises, and spectacular sunrises!!. Bring your rod and reels and fish off of it! Watch the red and black drum tailing:)))

Come and enjoy the Edgewater, located within walking distance to downtown Cedar Key. Restaurants and shops start 300 yards from the house. Home is located on the Eastern Bayou, enjoy the tides rolling in and out, beautiful sunrises, lots and lots of coastal birds, jumping mullets, and the occasional porpoises in the channel. Large yard has old Live Oaks, swing, native palm trees and lots of hibiscuses. Great under house porch, provides lots of shade, there are swings and table and chairs for your enjoyment....a perfect place in sunny or rainy weather. There are 3 bedrooms, the Master bedroom has a King bed, 2nd bedroom has a full-size bed, 3rd bedroom has 2 twins. The kitchen and upstairs deck overlook the waterfront, and the large roomy living room has plenty of seating for your guest. There is excellent fishing on the flats for Trout, Spanish Mackerel and Redfish, offshore for Grouper and Snapper. House is conveniently located directly across the street from the Cedar Key Marina, and about 3 hundred feet from The D & W tackle and bait shop. Sidewalk from house goes all over town.

A peaceful haven on the waters edge, full of character and charm
We had an amazing stay at Edgewater House; the clue is in the name and the property is on the waters edge so you see all sorts of wildlife from the balcony patio and ground yard area. Rosemary, the owner, made the whole check in process easy and stayed in contact throughout. The house is charming and full of character with 3 pretty double bedrooms and only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Cedar Key town. There is the opportunity to go kayaking and fishing nearby and we hired a golf cart very cheaply; which is a great way to explore the island. We went on a sunset boat trip out to the nearby islands which was memorable.

Great view
Loved the sunrise view off the upper deck, & staying in a house on stilts. It was great walking distance to everything we wanted to do. Everyone at Cedar Key was super friendly. The fishing was great. Looking forward to coming back & renting kayaks & a golf cart for getting around & parking easier.

Nice quiet stay! Enjoyed the birds out back. Osprey, pelicans. My husband fished off the sock when the water was at high tide, and caught several small catfish. Rented a golf cart one fay and explored the island. Island hotel was really interesting! Robinsons was a good place to eat! Theres a cool little park located behind the cemetary. Would recommend! Host was quick to get back to us! Make sure to take extra toilet paper, as there was only what was left on the rolls. Bring bug spray. Once rhe grass was mowed midweek, the outside was so much better! Everything inside was pretty comfy, the bed and living area.

I’m a 3rd generation native to Cedar Key. My grandfather brought “pound net fishing” from Denmark to this small island in the 1800’s. He was very successful. My father was a commercial fisherman. He fished for many different types of fish during all the different seasons catching mullet, trout, pompano, he also turtle fished. My mother worked beside him on the boat. They blue crabbed, stone crabbed, net fished, scalloped, oystered, clammed. We owned and operated an Oyster house, and we also smoked mullet, our mother Madge made the first “smoked mullet” dip in Cedar Key that started a craze all over the state of Florida. After our father passed away, our mother started Johnson’s Restaurant where my sisters and I worked side by side for many many years. We worked hard but had a wonderful life on this beautiful island we call home.
