2 rue Porte Compan is a traditional house, full of period features, including beams, and enormous stone fireplaces. It is a mixture of traditional and modern, with some lovely art work. The living room is open plan with an up to-date traditional kitchen including an electric oven, gas hob, integrated fridge, and Smeg dishwasher and some of the appliances are hidden in the enormous stone fireplace. There's also a 'kitchen within a kitchen' hidden inside the traditional cupboard & containing a microwave and toaster. The kitchen is well equipped, including a kettle and coffee maker. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms double with en suite, a twin & a single. The double room has the most stunning stone fireplace & is an outstanding feature. The en suite has a bath with a shower over it. The twin room is light with 2 windows, one of which is extremely old and still appears to have the original glass. The single room has a large fireplace & a 'bulls eye' window. These rooms share a shower room which has a shower cubicle, wash basin & wc. There is a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble drier, iron & ironing board. The house has wifi and television, there are books & DVD's. As this is a traditional Village House, entry is directly from the street. There is a detached gardens which has the most magnificent view of tremendous sunsets. It is accessed via the barn and there is an outside seat. There is also a large open garden, accessed by coming out of the house, turning left & following the road. It is below the 'gate to Paradis'. About lin morrell
I live in Bath and I have visited France frequently, including studying Norman Architecture may years ago. I adore the space and culture that France has to offer and the countryside around here is spectacular. I am a runner and running around the countryside there gives me so much joy. Come and join in. I spent several years renovating my house to its present condition, which has been a labour of love. Including chipping cement from the back of carpets sticking them to the bedroom floors! I like the thought of being able to share the house with people so that they can experience a taste of local living. Monpazier is fabulous. Take the opportunity to stay there.
lin morrell purchased this House in 2003
Why lin morrell chose Monpazier
The house oozes tradition and is quirky due to its age. It has some stunning features. There are 2 stone fireplaces: one in the kitchen that houses a fridge, oven & a cupboard, and the other is in the master bedroom where you can relax and feel grand staying there. We think it is 2 traditional houses knocked into one. Look at the width of walls going from the living room into the staircase. and the shape of the beams in the living room. Tell me what you think. This property is fabulous as it is traditional with modern facilities. It's a bit quirky! Just what you are looking for. The view from the the terrace is fantastic. During the day it's fairly quiet, and in the evening the sunsets are spectacular! If you haven't seen a Monpazier sunset, then you've missed out. Sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and just be stunned !
What makes this House unique
Monpazier is a fabulous Bastide. Staying in traditional house, and being able to enjoy wonderful surroundings so close to the centre of one of the most beautiful towns in France is a great opportunity. In seconds you can enjoy wonderful restaurants, cafes and architecture or just sit looking at the view. The town centre is lively and during the summer there are lots of things happening.

Great place to stay
Great place to stay. Plenty of space to cook, sit & lounge downstairs & the upstairs provides wonderful accommodation. The outside space opposite the house provides a nice sunny spot for sundowners & dining (or when we were there perhaps too sunny!). A really nice place to stay.
Picturesque Medieval Village
Great location in a picturesque medieval village. Good place to explore Dordogne from. We enjoyed the prehistoric caves and canoeing the Dordonge River.
Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour dans cette maison si agréable. Rien ne manque, l'endroit est calme et les propriétaires très sympathiques.
Le village est fabuleux.
Nous reviendrons, c'est certain.
