About Jen & Ken

We love the warm & friendly atmosphere of Oak Island and enjoy spending time at the beach and eating at our favorite beach places like Pirates Deck, Pepperoni Grill, Turtle Island and Oak Island Restaurant. We hope your family enjoys their ISLAND TIME here as much as we do?

Updated interior. Nice furnishings but feel the couches were not very firm and felt like I was sinking to the floor. Overall a nice place. Outdoor covered porch was awesome. Very relaxing.
Wonderful house in nice location
We had two families ( four adults, two 3 year olds and a baby) in the house and it was a perfect fit. The house is well appointed, had anything kitchen related we could have needed, clean, and in a quiet area of the island. The drive to beach access is short as are restaurants and Food Lion. We would definitely stay again.
This house has everything you need for a vacation on the beach. The inside was beautiful and clean. Very close to restaurants and shopping. It rained for most of our weekend there, but it was nice to sit in the screened porch and relax. My teenage daughter started a new season of her favorite show on Netflix. The owner was absolutely amazing to work with!! Will definitely be back!!
Beautiful Oak Island Home
Inside of the house was wonderful as well as the screened in porch! My parents, who trusted my judgement on picking a house, were pleasantly surprised as the outside of the home does not do the inside any justice.
Bedrooms were specious and the kitchen and dinning room were gorgeous. 4 adults and a child fit comfortably. As others have stated its not an ideal walking distance to the beach, though it can be done. However, there are a number of beach access points with parking less than a 1-3 minute drive away.
Super close to anything you'd want to do on the island as well as number of restaurants. Doughnuts, coffee, ice cream you name it....less than 5 minutes. It was a short drive to Southport for some shopping on the rainy days.
Would highly recommend and will be looking to stay here again on our next trip to OKI.
Thank you for a lovely stay, JEN.
Beautiful and relaxing
The pictures of this place don’t do it justice the inside of the home is beautiful and updated, very clean. Beds were comfortable, has all the necessities you need for a week at the beach. The only thing I can say is wasn’t as close to beach as I thought. It’s about 1.4 Miles to the beach access that is recommended, if going alone definitely easy walk but if going with kids suggest you drive or rent golf cart. Also no TV’s in bedrooms. But overall wonderful, would definitely rent again. Owner also very timely in getting back to you!
Perfect Vacation Home!
The Celtic Christians coined the term, "thin place," a place where heaven and earth met—where man entered into the presence of God—Oak Island seems to be such a place—and this home allowed us to experience all of it.
From the very entry into this beach home, pictures do not do it justice. Don't be fooled from the outside—the inside has it all! We had three of us; my wife and I and our ten year old daughter.
To the open floor plan, beautifully designed kitchen with lots of counter tops and an island (I'm an ex-chef and restaurant owner—it's perfect for cooking and has all the utensils—even Henkel knives!), to the inviting bedrooms with plush soft mattresses, large clean bathrooms, to the fantastic outside screened-in decks with four ceiling fans, couches, and rocking chairs—it seems Jen has included everything that she would want in a vacation home (including a Keurig and regular drip coffee maker—you choose).
The first night we picked up food for the week at the local Food Lion (but don't worry, this home is in the perfect distance to all of the shops, restaurants, and stores, if you forget something), so I grilled us some NY Strip steaks on the outdoor gas grill. Next morning it was bacon, eggs, bagels, coffee (and a little more coffee) and off to the beach.
Jen has a book inside the home with all of the information that you could need—including, which beach has a cabana and restroom (but we went to 55th and 58th Street Beaches—2 minutes away by car). There was also ample supplies if you forgot something—just replace it before leaving.
The family room/den area has two very comfortable couches, and the TV is hooked up with tons of Apps on the Firestick! The neighborhood is super quiet. I loved my morning runs on Yacht Drive behind the house, leading past several marinas on the Intracoastal waterway—there's also a neat little dock on the water for evening fishing or watching the sunset—it's only two blocks, or 3 minutes walking). The screened-in deck with the rocking chair was fantastic for the thunderstorm and lightning show we had!
Did I mention sunsets? Wow. I lived on the Outerbanks for nearly 20 years, but Oak Island has a sunrise and sunset ON the beach.
Just a short drive north to Caswell beach and the lighthouse, that was great, or about 10 minutes to Southport (we loved the historic district). But, our big favorite was The Point for the most gorgeous sunsets, soft sand, and a full moon over the ocean! If Jen will have us—we'll be back
