Sleep and rise to the sound of the sea teasing the shore below your bedroom. Roll out of bed every morning onto our surreal balcony and let its magic work wonders on you any time of the day!
Our main bedroom offers a king-size double bed, with a spare bedroom providing 3 single beds. In addition our spacious sofa can sleep 2 adults comfortably.
With new retro-styled features including a bright orange fully equipped kitchen, low lying black leather sofa, and elegant white sheers and curtains to flow with the fresh sea breeze, prepare to lay back and be swung into the awesome 60`s
As the original pale yellow floors conjure the salty tang of many summers past, be tempted for an early morning dip in the sea through our internal boathouse or make use of our little boat to discover hidden coves and open water around the bay.
Our residence is perfectly hidden from the main road bringing perfect silence and tranquillity only to be disturbed by the sound of the sea.
Connect your own music device to our surround system and chill out after a day at the beach.
Time your stay with a mid-summer full moon, and watch it rise in orange from the western horizon and transform into a brilliant white ball glittering on the water and casting reflections through our low lit rooms.
Take advantage of the cooler autumn, winter and spring and set out on some of Malta's most breath-taking walks which will stimulate your senses at every step!
... then rest well with a cup of warm tea on our balcony where time stops for no one except for you!
With our personalised touch and service we go that extra step to bring a smile at all times for both adults and kids!
Brought up in the tranquil and serene village of Xemxija (literally meaning, the Sunny Side!) in St Paul's Bay, Malta, I set out on an adventure back in 2005 to study in London. Soon after I found myself in the great multicultural city of Brussels where I have worked for both the Permanent Representation of Malta to the EU as a diplomat and more recently at the European Commission on Research and Innovation policy.
Andrew Bianco purchased this apartment in 2012
My heart and spirit remain closely connected to our long-time family residence in Xemxija, which remains my sole place of refuge and relaxation throughout the year.
Having spent many endless summers in this property which belonged to my grandmother until recently, as a young boy I would spend the days fishing along the coast and venturing into the hills behind. My father would take us water skiing on our boat every evening just in front. We would spend hours swimming in the sea and playing rummy on the balcony with Nana and Dad. Luckily, I was able to buy a share of the property just last year.
I love the sea and everything that is connected to it, and I long for the days I spend windsurfing and sailing around the bay in Xemxija and the beautiful coastline that extends past St Paul's Island.
I truly hope to have the pleasure of sharing my home with you and to give you the chance to experience the touch of magic that this very special place will bring you!
This special place has the ultimate romantic and relaxation setting. As you drive round the cove at night to the font row of 1950`s bungalows you will be beset by the beauty of coloured lights reflecting over the still water from across the bay.
What makes this space really special, is the direct internal access to the sea through our internal boathouse which allows you to literally crawl out of bed and take a dip. Guests are also invited to rent out our small fibre glass boat and other sports equipment. We can also provide you with bikes and fishing rods.
The residence is perfectly located to Malta's most beautiful pristine beaches of Ghajn Tuffieha (Apple`s Eye) and Golden Bay. The other beaches of Ghadira, Paradise Bay and Armier are only 10-15 minutes away by car.
Within 100 meters walking distance you can also go swimming in the beautiful Fekruna (Turtle) Bay. Partly surrounded by a cliff, the small inlet offers a perfect post for jumping!
During the cooler months, the surrounding hills offer endless Mediterranean country walks, where the scents of wild thyme will stimulate your senses at every step!
Andrew and his folk offer a very fine and tastefully equipped appartment in the Xemxija town of Malta. We - 2 kids and 2 adults - felt comfortable throughout our stay. During our stay, we rented a car (+ here-App) and enjoyed the very many day trips for which Xemxija is a pretty good starting point: it is close to the finer sandy beaches and Gozo ferry; the trips southwards took at most 45mins (Peters Pool). On arrival, a selection of some basic food and Maltese fruits was provided with the selection of brews scoring high at one of the adults :-) Xemxija itself has not much to offer for tourists - kids could swim in the harbour area and there is a diving school, apart from that locals barbecue in front of their garages. Going fourth or fifth row in Xemxija, it feels that deconstruction of empty houses and land reclamation would be the best way forward. This leads to the question, why not a five star rating?
Yes Malta is a busy place with traffic throughout the day: The road to Gozo ferry three rows behind the appartment is not heard from the appartment, however the Bugibba bypass across the bay seems popular with motorcyclists in the first hours of the night. Then, the design of the appartment is pretty cool yet some stuff does not score high in convenience which I rate a bit higher myself - e.g. the seating furniture (also # of..) / parasol for the balcony.
Last point and independant of the rating: we were amazed how little bird life there is in Malta. Apart from sparrows and doves most other birds seem extinct. What has been done that there are next to no sea gulls on a small fish rich rocky island? There are big conservation issues and more can be done then building fine Aquariums together with EU support. As tourist and European citizen I do not take this lightly. How nice could Malta be if it had not just a lively historic heritage and marine wildlife but could field a similarly diverse fauna.
Beautiful apartment perfect for family. We had a lovely week!
Massively spacious, clean and well equipped apartment. Good choice of restaurants within 10 mins drive. We had a fabulous welcome from Andrew's parents, and both them and Andrew provided all required information for a very relaxing stay. We would definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful time: great terrace for breakfast in the sun and beers in the afternoon, comfy sofa, the sound of the sea when falling asleep, nice toys for the kids, perfectly equipped kitchen etc. Quiet location with lovely views, although no fireworks @new year. Communication with the host was easy and concise, his father welcomed us and provided basic food and drinks. Would love to come back!
Ansonsten alles tip Top!
Brought up in St Paul's Bay I can say without any doubt of mind that there is certainly no place like home! Malta being one of the most densely populated islands on the planet, St Paul`s Bay lies a stretch away from the other hectic towns and villages situated in the more central part of the island.
Enjoy fresh air and beautiful walks in some of Malta's last remaining expanses of untainted Mediterranean countryside.
As a seaside town, St Paul's Bay and the neighbouring towns of Mellieha and Mgarr offer you a vast selection of dining experiences brining you fresh fish and some of the best traditional rabbit dishes on the island.
Situated ideally within 5km of some of Malta's most pristine beaches and coastal stretches, close to the ferry service to Comino and Gozo, and with a drive of around 35 minutes to Valletta and the bustling villages of St Julian's and Paciville, there are few other towns that can offer you such a perfect balance of tranquillity and excitement.
Without exception, St Paul's Bay also brings you its annual village feast (fiesta) towards the end of July (28th July in 2014) making the village a stunning backdrop as endless fireworks reflect over the sea.
Public transport is within 300 to 400 meters walking distance.
Several country walks and coastline spots (Fekruna Bay for a quiet private swim and some jumping at only 100 meters away, Mistra at 1km, and other spots further up the coastline) are accessible on foot.
Use of bicycles in the cooler seasons of autumn, winter and spring offer a perfect way to explore the nearby villages and hills.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are available all the year round from Tony's traditional van store just 400 meters down the road. There is also a small grocery store with all basic general provisions and daily newspapers just 200 meters away.
