Why Kristin Cummings chose Lake Linden
My grandma grew up in Houghton and her father originally owned the property in the late 1800's but then it was sold in the 1930's to the build housing for the coast guards, hence the 3 houses on the property. In the late 70's all coast guard housing was sold off, and my grandparents re-purchased the property and flipped the powerhouse that originally supplied electricity to the lighthouse into a house. The property just holds a lot of family history to us as well as sentimental value.
What makes this House unique
Constant eagle viewing, hence why we keep the dead tree in the front because the eagles like to land there. The houses are set right on the break water for fantastic views of the sunrise and sunset. Most of all it is in walking distance to the only beach in the area that has shallow water and scenic views of the light house.

U.P. GETAWAY AT THE POWERHOUSE
The Powerhouse is an absolute treasurer. Everything inside was clean, fresh & updated - overall very comfortable & enjoyable. The grounds are well kept & plenty of outdoor chairs for taking in the beauty. Will be back some day :) Thank you Kristen
This rental is located in an absolutely beautiful area. Everything was provided for a quiet escape. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly to every question. We enjoyed exploring the beach and surrounding area as well as watching Bald Eagles and numerous other wildlife. We highly recommend this rental and this beautiful area of Michigan!
It was great to spend a few days here. Way more room in the house then needed, but the big yard was wonderful for my dog-who got a well deserved break from the city, and learned a new word-"Beach". We walked to the beach 3 or 4 times a day, only missed one sunrise. Make sure to get outside after dark and see the stars, I was lucky enough to be there during a meteor shower. Even though I felt very secluded, still had 5 bars of phone reception. Never lacked for anything.
Tom and I loved this place! The house is placed somewhere between water and sky. If you get a chance to stay here - make sure you do it. You absolutely will not regret it. The place is magic - pure magic.
We had such a good time there. Being right on the waters edge was awesome and we even had a Bald Eagle land in the tree right outside our door!
Great vacation 👍 thx Kristen
Check out downtown Houghton, they have cute little shops and great places to eat. The Quincy Mine is something else to see if you want to go inside a real copper mine. Downtown Calumet is another great place to go, they have cute little coffee shops, antique stores, restaurants, and a brewery. Close to the house is Dreamland, great for Friday night fish fry, and not to far from there is Lake Linden Township, which have more exceptional restaurants, Lindells chocolate shoppe is my favorite for breakfast and lunch. Plan a day out at Cooper harbor, which is an hour North of the house, great place for scenic views of Lake Superior and a nice bike ride.
