|Property type||chateau / country house|
|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Approaching the Chateau down the long winding tree lined drive for the first time is like stepping into the past. The Chateau parc itself is magnificent, 22 hectares of fields, streams and some of the rarest trees in France. The oldest parts of the house date back to the fourteenth century and were built using the granite from the property itself. There are 8 bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms. Each room is luxuriously decorated and filled with antiques. There is an enormous tapestry lined salon/drawing room with walk in fireplace, two libraries, dining room and vast fully equipped kitchen and pantry. The house has been restored to a very high standard and the rooms are both elegant and comfortable. This house is perfect for large groups, entertaining, weddings and special events. There is a 16 metre long salt water pool, designed to blend in with the surroundings and a large lake, with kayaking, canoeing and fishing facilities, only one kilometre away. Guests who enjoy cooking will be thrilled with the full vegetable, flower and herb gardens as well as the professional LaCanche stove for cooking. With so much comfort guests are generally reluctant to do the many things on offer around the Chateau, the sightseeing, canoeing, biking, fishing, hunting, swimming, tennis etc.
Given the size of the property there is a guardian on the grounds and a full time maid and cook can be available in the summer months.
The Chateau is also available for Weddings, Events, Seminars, Corporate or Wellness Retreats and other special events.
The Winter House, a beautifully refurbished 17th century farmhouse located on the grounds, may also be rented.
Mark and his wife Maria have 3 children and now 2 grandchildren as well! They have lived all over the world but the Chateau is where the heart is .
Maria & Marc purchased this chateau / country house in 2000
My Mother's family originates from this village and have lived there for at least 10 generations. My Great Grandfather, a mason and joiner from the village rebuilt the the roof of the Chateau around 1900. My father, was also a resident of the village during WW2. I also lived there and have visited many times throughout my life. I recall walking through it's grounds as a child and telling myself I would, one day, make it mine.
The house sits on a hill overlooking the valley, fields and forests which surround it. I have always remarked at how the air and water seems so clean you can feel it almost immediately. My Grandfather used to tell me, it's too bad we can't bottle the air or we would be rich beyond our wildest dreams'. And the stars! On the new moon you have never seen such a sight.
We had a brilliant2 week stay with teenage families in August. Fabulous home with exquisite furnishings and fully equipped. Ernest the caretaker was very attentive and helpful, and the owners were super responsive too. Surrounded by lakes which provided endless fun with diving boards and acres of swimming- often entirely alone! Plenty of fun at the bottom of the valley on the upper Dordogne- kayaking, standup paddleboarding, and for the adventurous , waterfall climbing with Arjen. Will definitely return! Picture perfect village of la Roche canillac- With the boulangerie in the Mairie and a well stocked epicerie- both a quick walk from the house, or even shorter bike! Pretty remote so don't expect vibrant nightlife or lots of nearby restaurants- you have to drive to find them. Lovely markets and pretty churches too. Massively recommend!
As a venue for a holiday with the whole family, the Chateau de Beaufort is hard to beat. We were 14 persons in total, and we all were comfortably lodged in very nice rooms.
The house is very spacious and very cosy, we had the feeling of being in our very own maison thecampagne. Small problems were immediately taken care of by the very kind concierge couple Ernesto and Jacquie.
The surroundings, the perfect quiet, the cast garden, the magnificent swimming pool, the vicinity of the baker's shop, the perfectly equipped kitchen... it all added up to our total satisfaction.
We certainly recommend this place to our friends. And we are sure to come back the next time we want to spent a week together with our whole family.
A palatial residence with wonderful, stylish interior furnishings as well as large grounds. The perfect place for a family gathering with a pool and games room for kids. The hosts were very helpful as were the couple who live next door and are on hand to help as caretakers. A very verdant area with lots of walks and opportunities for water sports. It is a hidden gem!!
We found our way through the woods arrived into a spectacular driveway of this magnificent Chateau.
Family friendly, lots of space outside to play with the kids. delicious dinners under the stars and the sky with candles and delicious food made by a local cook.
The rooms are so authentic with french furniture. the rooms are overlooking at the wide great green garden.
short distance to the lake with many water activities and the "ropes park & climbing". we had a great time. or like my little son say: "we had the best summer ever". we defiantly going to visit again !
Chateau de Beaufort brought much more than expected. Not only to the father of four, but certainly also to the kids (aged 5-11). Situated in the beautiful Correze with forrest & lakes, the Chateau is the perfect place to be. With the 'boulanger' virtually around the corner, each day starts with a smile. Appealing and challenging outdoor activities are well spread in the neighborhood. Interesting villages from which one returns with the 'catch of the day'. When eating the chicken bought from the "Charcutier" one again understands the saying 'living like God in France'. The well maintained property provides for an excellent playing ground for a tribe of kids. Not only to recommend to friends and family, but even better: to invite them during your stay!
Magnificent place to relax, commune with history and nature. The Chateau sits atop a hill above the lovely village and my first impression upon driving up the long driveway was truly breathtaking. The main house is quite impressive and welcoming. The furnishings are tasteful antiques that take one back in time.
The Great Room has a massive fireplace and windows on 3 sides which highlight the views to the wooded side of the property, down toward the tributaries of the Dordogne River. There are several bedrooms, all beautifully appointed. The formal dining room is a treat for sit down dinners, but we actually dined outside more often, given the beautiful setting. The salt water pool is splendid, and there's a boule/petanque court aside it, with an outbuilding that provides shade for those that need it! The village is an easy walk, and I did it each morning to collect our morning pastries and fresh bread. The lake is walking distance, the water is gorgeous. We loved the nearby tennis courts
The Chateau de Beaufort is at the centre of one of the most unspoilt and least populated regions in France. It is covered in endless deep river gorges and valleys, ancient forests, lakes, rivers, streams and waterfalls all flowing with the Topaz coloured waters of the Correze.
Stream, river and lake fishing, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, camping, orienteering, swimming, water skiing, tennis, sailing, wildlife viewing and motorcycle touring are just some of the activities which can be considered in 'Le Pays Vert' or 'The Green Country'. Waterfalls, densely forested valleys, medieval castles, ancient ruins and underground caverns are only some of the sights.
