About the property

Tastefully Decorated and Renovated, Holly House exudes Luxury

Just 25 miles from the historic city of Chester, Holly House has some of the most breath taking views imaginable. It is situated at a height of 660 feet above sea levels and has uninterrupted views over rolling countryside to the sea. The Wirral and Liverpool are clearly visible, as it the coastline of England and on a clear day you can even see Blackpool Tower. These views can be appreciated from most of the house as the kitchen and main living areas have floor to ceiling windows. The large conservatory also makes the most of Holly House's wonderful position.

The house is quiet and tranquil, set in three and a half acres of grounds. A gate from the garden leads to a public footpath which can be used to reach an award winning conservation village with a quaint country pub less than half a mile away. Perfect for walkers as there are a range of beautiful walks nearby.

We can arrange the hire of a hot tub, at an extra cost of approximately £170, and many groups do indeed do so. The hot tub would be situated on the large terrace, with the most spectacular views.

The popular market town of Prestatyn is only 4 miles away and boasts numerous restaurants and bars. Holly House is within 3 miles of the lovely beach at Talacre so this location offers a seaside experience.

Chester and Llandudno are 30 minutes by road or rail from Prestatyn railway station. Prestatyn railway station is on the high speed line to Holyhead and is only two and a half hours from London.

The magnificent Snowdonia National Park is only an hour away by car.

Holly House was fully renovated in 2011/12 including having a new thatched roof. It has ivory porcelain floor tiles and parquet wooden floors downstairs, furniture and wallpapers by Laura Asley and an electric Aga oven. The kitchen has a dining table that seats 12.

The six double bedrooms are configured as five double/king size bedrooms whilst the sixth has twin single beds.

Two of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and there is a main bathroom also situated on the first floor. There is a cloakroom on the ground floor.

The house also has a games room with pool table, and a table football game that can also be converted to a variety of other games such as air hockey and skittles.

About Paula Roberts

David and I are lucky enough to own two lovely homes in the UK and another in Croatia.

After a successful career in business David now works for a UK children's charity.

We have both grown up in North Wales and have raised our four children here. We are currently living in our other home in the UK which is only half a mile away in the beautiful village of Llanasa.

As such we are on hand to give any help and guidance but far enough away to give you total privacy!

Paula Roberts purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Paula Roberts chose Holywell

I have always been in love with this house. We bought our current house 14 years ago which was David's dream property - a small Georgian manor house in the centre of the village of Llanasa.

However, on our walks we would pass Holly House and I would always remark that was my dream house. After 11 years of making the same comment almost every week it came on the market and we bought it.

It needed total restoration including a new thatch. The build took nearly a year and we're delighted with how it has turned out.

We lived at Holly House for two years but David wanted to live in our other house for a bit so I'm happy to let other people enjoy Holly House until I can persuade David to move back!

What makes this cottage unique

A uniquely attractive home that is wonderfully situated. We are sure any guest will love it!

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Everything was stunning. Paula was super friendly and allowed us early check in and late check out as no one else was staying at the cottage. The games room was really fun and lots of big rooms for the whole group to socialise

Wonderful property and location

  • 5 of 5

Very much enjoyed this property for a family celebration. Very comfortable and wonderful views. Plenty of space to relax and chill inside and outside. Only slight downside was cooking on an aga which is slow! Would definitely return again.

Beautiful home and beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

We came with extended family for several days and thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful house. The owners were warm and welcoming and met us the first day with loads of information about the house and the area. We had everything we needed. The views are amazing! Beds were comfy and every room was beautifully decorated. The house was very clean and neat. Our experience was top notch! Hope to go back one day.

Beautiful property with stunning views. An amazing place to create memories forever.

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 11 adults staying for my 40th birthday in October. Paula was fabulous supporting me in the planning and advising on the local amenities.

On arrival we were greeted by Paula who personally gave us a tour and explained how everything worked.

There are plenty of lovely walks in the area and nice pubs to eat at. Paula was helpful in providing local numbers for taxis when we ventured out on Saturday night.

The underfloor heating in the conservatory meant we were nice and cozy, having a relaxing afternoon chatting, whilst watching storm Brian!

Overall a wonderful weekend and would certainly go back. Only minor issue (which didn't take away from the experience in the slightest) was that a second 'beer/wine' fridge would have been useful but it was manageable.

Fantastic location with an amazing view that makes for great BBQ potential if the British weather is behaving. Well sized property for large groups with a pool table for late evening entertainment.

Holly House is a beautiful thatched house with commanding views out to sea, over the Dee Estuary towards the Wirral and Liverpool. On a clear day Blackpool Tower and the Pennines are clearly visible.

The house is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty situated in a quiet rural location but only half a mile from the conservation village of Llanasa. Llanasa has a public house with a restaurant and its duck ponds are a popular attraction, particularly in spring with the hatching of ducklings.

There are some lovely walks along rights of way and public footpaths. Indeed one can join a right of way from the bottom of the garden at Holly House.

The busy town of Prestatyn is 4 miles from Holly House with many bars. cafes and restaurants. Prestatyn has a large new Tesco superstore and Marks and Spencers as well as numerous other shops.

The beach at Talacre is 3.6 miles from Holly House and has some wonderful sand dunes and a lighthouse.

Dyserth waterfall, situated 3 miles away from Holly House is worth a visit

Chester is a must visit city. It is located 25 miles from Holly House and is accessible in less than half an hour by car due to the excellent road links of the A55 Expressway or by train from Prestatyn railway station located just 6 miles from Holly House.

Chester is arguably the richest city in Britain for archaeological and architectural treasures preserved to this day from the time of the Roman occupation and the Roman walls remained virtually intact.

The most distinctive medieval feature of the city is The Rows,double-level walkways with a continuous line of balconies and with shops at street and first-floor levels dating from the 14th century.

Apart from historical interest Chester also has a zoo and racecourse.

Heading into Wales, Betws y Coed is really worth a visit and is located 42 miles from Holly House.

Betws-y-Coed is North Wales' most popular inland resort and it is the principal village of the Snowdonia National Park.

Set in a beautiful valley in the Snowdonia Forest Park, it is ideal for outdoor activity holidays. Numerous Craft and outdoor activity shops are in the village with the popular Swallow Falls nearby.

The Swallow Falls are considered to be one of the loveliest spots of North Wales. Here the river rushes down from the mountains. Crags and jagged rocks divide the stream into a number of foaming cascades. A mile further on are the famous Swallow Falls, where the Llugwy river hurls itself into a spectacular chasm.

Close to Betws y Coed you can experience a totally different adventure activity and journey through a mountain via a series of exciting underground challenges! Test your nerve by zip-lining over water, or climb up a shaft, boat across a lake, traverse over an abyss, scale a waterfall or even abseil your way down to the deepest spot in Snowdonia!

Bodnant Gardens are a must visit location for any gardener and they are located within 30 miles of Holly House. Think of any style of garden you can imagine - Bodnant Garden has it all. From grand lawns and terraces to small quiet corners, there's something new at every turn.

If Castles are of interest there are several close to Holly House. Rhuddlan Castle dating from 1282 is located 5.5 miles from Holly House.

Also close by is Conway Castle (28 miles from Holly House) which was never demolished.

Conwy, constructed by the English monarch Edward I between 1283 and 1289 as one of the key fortresses in his 'iron ring' of castles to contain the Welsh, was built to prompt such a humbling reaction.

A distinguished historian wrote of Conwy, 'Taken as a whole, Conwy's incomparably the most magnificent of Edward I's Welsh fortresses'

The Great Orme Country Park in Llandudno is really worth a visit and is 30 miles from Holly House. Again with excellent road links this should take little more than half an hour by car.

The Park allows you to explore the fascinating geology, archaeology, wildlife and history of this spectacular headland, thought to be over 350 million years old. The Orme’s special importance is reflected in its designation as a Country Park, Special Area of Conservation, Site of Special Scientific Interest and Heritage Coast.

Follow the nature trail from the Great Orme Country Park Visitor Centre, which has stopping-off points that interpret the Orme’s intriguing story. And also visit the unique Great Orme Ancient Mine, the world’s largest Bronze Age mine.

And the quickest way back down to sea level? Ski, snowboard, snow-tube or toboggan from the Llandudno Ski Slope and Snowboard Centre (no snow needed).
