About the property

2 Double Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Elevator, Big Terrace With Wonderful View

This unique penthouse is without any doubt one of the most fascinating houses in Venice. With its astonishing views from every window, its large marble terrace and unique blend of ancient and contemporary architecture, it sits on top of one of the tallest historical houses of the city, Palazzo Albrizzi.

The 250 sq. mts apartment has 2 double bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms, a large kitchen, an open space with dining table for 6 guests and a sitting room. It's furnished with old and modern design furniture and museum quality paintings heirloom of the Albrizzi family, who built the Palazzo in the 17th century and still owns the entire house.

The terrace is 40 sq. mt. and it's accessible directly from the sitting room.

The fifth floor of the palazzo is reachable with an elevator.

A Venetian Masterpiece

  • 5 of 5

My daughter’s jaw dropped when she saw this wonderful penthouse, and she said “this is the most amazing place we have ever stayed in.”

The apartment is large and tastefully decorated, with lovely furniture, amazing art, a grand piano, and a large collection of fascinating books. There are many windows—the natural light during the day is great.. From the terraces, there are sweeping views of all of Venice. There is a dramatic entry hall to the apartment building, which is a true palazzo. A small lift will take you up to the top floor where the apartment is located.

The two bedrooms are almost exactly the same size, with queen beds, ample closet space, small writing desks, en suite bathrooms, and identical views of Venice. This apartment is ideal for two couples or a family.

Most of the apartment is on one floor; the two exceptions are the entrance foyer, which is on the same floor as the lift and leads to the main floor via a staircase, and the smaller terrace, which is reached via stairs from the main floor of the terrace. The larger terrace, with dining table and chairs, lounge chairs, and umbrella, is on the same floor as the living area, library area, kitchen, and bedrooms.

The kitchen has a new refrigerator, dishwasher, gas stove, and a sink in front of windows with the most amazing views of nearby red-tiled roofs. It is stocked with all of the essential cooking tools. The pantry items included olive oil, salt (four types), and black pepper. A welcome basket of fruit was on the table, and the refrigerator was stocked with a nice Prosecco, bottled water, and milk.

But we didn’t do much cooking because so many great restaurants are within walking distance of the perfectly-situated apartment. The highly acclaimed Antiche Carampane is just around the corner, but our favorite place was a little osteria about fifty meters from the apartment: Al Ponte Storto Osteria con Cucina.

Although the apartment is a short walk to the fish market and the Rialto Bridge, it is nestled away from the usual tourist paths and is on a campiello (small plaza) that is more likely to have Italian schoolchildren kicking soccer balls than tourists hunting for gelato. Getting to the apartment was a breeze. Orsola arranged for a water taxi for us at the airport, met us at the S. Silvestro dock, and walked us to the apartment. And she also kindly arranged for our return water taxi upon our departure.

Beautiful apartment with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Staying at this apartment in San Polo really made our vacation in Venice special. It was easy to communicate with Orsolo before arriving in Italy. She made our boat reservations for arrival at the airport and transport to the city, and for our return. Orsolo met us at the dock, walked us to the apartment, showed us how everything worked, and left us a nice bottle of Prosecco.

The apartment is gorgeous, the photos are real and the views even more spectacular than they appear on the website. Everything works, plenty of hot water, heat, two large bathrooms, nice kitchen and lots of space. The neighborhood is close to the Rialto bridge, centrally located, yet no tourists around. We ate at a wonderful restaurant nearby and were the only foreigners.

Highly recommend this apartment. The palazzo itself is stunning and sits on a quiet small square.

Stunning and historic

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in Venice for our first stay during a trip through Italy. Orsola arranged the water taxi from San Marco airport and met us at the stop the driver already knew to take us. This was such a plus after the long flights from California. Orsola was waiting for us and lead us to the Palazzo Penthouse where we stayed for three nights. Every blink of the eye not only in Venice but in this VRBO rental is exquisite. The apartment is very large and accurate to photos. The views from not only the two terraces but each window are breathtaking. The direct area the apartment is located in is quiet and feels like a real neighborhood - We walked to every historic site without trouble - except the prerequisite getting lost on a few Venice streets that is fun and beautiful.

There is a great local restaurant one block from the apartment and one we ate at near Ponte Vecchio but away from the tourists. Orsola recommended both. We stumbled upon a local Italian market where the owner herself made the bruschetta to take away.

The entrance floor to the penthouse is so historical - ?1600 and the lift although tiny is a pleasant means of getting up and down from the top floor especially with baggage. I would recommend this place if you wish to feel like a local and imagine all the incredible history that occurred here. We were two adult couples traveling. My only regret is not having enough time to review some of the wonderful books in the library left from Orsola's family members.

Arrivederci! .... Donna

Stunning views

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is clean & spacious and the living room specially is charming. Kitchen has all the utensils you need, as well as great views. Outside space is generous and the views are simply wonderful. Location of the apartment is central and its easy to get to the main attractions as well as the charming back streets of Venice and to the restaurants, shops etc & the vaparato!

Communication with Orsola was excellent through out ( pre booking - post / meeting us on arrival & arranging departure etc) .

We'd happily stay again. Venice is beautiful & unique and Orsola and the apartment simply complement the city beautifully.

Venice as it´s best!

  • 5 of 5

Two friends, my wife Andrea and me had a wonderful and unfogettable stay from may 4th until may 9th in the apartment of Orsola and Giovanni. The whole building is history pure, an we were in the center of it.The apartment leaved nothing to be desired - a lot of very nice antique furnitures, an impressive libary, very much space an of course the two terraces with great views all over the town. The apartment was very clean and comfortable including an elevator. The situation of the building near the Rialto Market is perfect for a real venetian discoverer. In addition we had a very warm welcome from Orsola including a "Welcome Prosecco". All our special wishes were satisfied by her very friendly. Thank you for all. We´ll come back in a few month.
