Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Castilenti - Casa Tramonto Cottage

Country Cottage With One Bedroom and own secluded private pool

A lovingly restored cottage set in a peaceful and tranquil location surrounded by olive groves and vineyards with fabulous views of the Gran Sasso and Maijella mountains. The only sound to be heard from the cottage are the gentle bells in the distance of the shepherd taking his sheep to pastures new.

The cottage consists of a large open plan living/bedroom with wood burner, TV with DVD player, a fully equipped modern kitchen and bathroom. The sofa doubles up as a bed for a small child or alternatively we can provide a cot and high chair for younger children.

Outside there is a garden with private decked terrace with patio furniture, BBQ area and your very own private pool. Why not enjoy a glass of wine whilst marvelling at the stunning sunsets over the majestic mountains. Access FREE Wi-fi either inside the cottage or around the pool and garden. There is ample parking adjacent to the cottage right outside the front door!

The local village is just a short walk away or a 2 minute drive which boasts a large well stocked supermarket and butcher, florist, gift shop and friendly bar. The cottage has many restaurants only a short distance away where you can enjoy local Italian cuisine.

Abruzzo is one of the relatively undiscovered regions of Italy - which is why the food and wine are inexpensive and the landscape completely unspoilt. This beautiful area has alot to offer with many interesting places to visit nearby including the historic medieval towns of Atri, Citta St Angelo with large modern shopping mall, the medieval City of Penne (the City of Art) and numerous activities such as visiting caves, winery tours and museums only a short distance away.

The blue flag beach of Pineto is just a 20 minute drive away. Pineto itself is a good size town with many shops selling souvenirs and fancy goods, coffee shops and really good restaurants. How about spending the morning on the beach and perhaps have a late lunch in one of the seafront restaurants? If you fancy a train journey to Pescara, there is a regular rail service from Pineto which runs along the Adriatic coast. The eternal city of Rome is just a two hour drive away or catch a comfortable coach to Rome from Pescara or Penne for just €20 return.

Arriving at Casa Tramonto Cottage we will welcome you personally and show you around the cottage. In the kitchen you will find a hamper giving you all the necessities you will need to start off your stay without having to source local supermarkets on your arrival. You will also find a helpful welcome pack with information about local attractions and beautiful places to visit, local restaurants and shops. Of course we will be happy to further this information in person should you require it. If you would like to book the cottage, please email us direct to avoid paying any additional costs HomeAway charge to travellers.

Stunning and secluded Italian holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We hoped for a truly special holiday to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and that is just what we got and more! Casa Tramonto provided super accommodation in the most beautiful location between the sea and mountains. Pat and Tom are great hosts and were keen to ensure we had an exceptional holiday. They sensitively balanced respecting our holiday privacy and being available if and when needed.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and equipped for all our needs. The pool is a special added luxury. Pat’s file provided a range of information- places to visit with directions, picturesque towns, restaurants and beaches etc. The Abruzzo region is unspoilt and the local people are friendly- and were very patient with our broken Italian!

Pat and Tom- it was a real pleasure to meet you. Thank you for everything and we look forward to seeing you again.

A perfect place in a beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

Casa Tramonto Cottage is a very comfortable place to stay. The interior is good, the exterior, with the pool, is excelent. The owners live nearby but they respected our privacy completely, except when we needed help. And we did need help... :-)

The area is very nice, mountains and sea are relatively close by.

Pineto, Rosetta and Silvie are nice Italian beach resorts, do not forget to visit Silvie Paese for a beautiful view over the coast. Westward Gran Sasso National Park is a gorgeous landscape.

If you want to explore Abruzzo, Casa Tramonto is a very place to start from.

Beautiful, picturesque and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful holiday cottage has it's own pool and decking area overlooking snow covered mountains in the distance.

The welcome pack Was most welcome and just what we needed after the drive from Rome.

Tom & Patricia are great hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

Eating out at nearby restaurants is extremely well priced, 5 euro's for a stunning pizza.

We also went to Mario's for a ten course authentic Italian meal with wine, we had to roll home. This costs about 20 euro's per person.

The cottage itself is well equipped, beautifully decorated and very homely.

If you want a relaxing break, lounging by the pool, letting the stresses of work evaporate away while looking at the beautiful Italian countryside, this is a must.

Thanks Tom & Patricia, we'll definitely be back.

  • 5 of 5

It was great to return to this lovely cottage... The welcome from Tom & Patricia was as warm as ever. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated as we arrived late. You can see the snow covered mountains from the cottage. We travelled to the top of the Gran Sasso mountain by cable car in the morning into the snow then sat by the pool sunbathing in the afternoon. The cottage is perfect for mountains one way and beach the other... We went to the lovely resort of pineto ,great for the market.walked along the sandy beach and enjoyed a chilled glass of prosecco in the a cafe.A great place for a relaxing holiday

During the summer months each village has it's own festa (festival) during the year providing food, wine and different entertainments depending on the village. Every festa has its own theme and are well worth a visit.

During April and sometimes May it is possible to go skiing in the morning and relax on the beach in the afternoon - the only area in Italy possible to do this.

A really worthwhile and enjoyable day out are the caves at Stiffe giving guided tours throughout the caves where you can marvel at the underground waterfalls and unique white cave made entirely of quartz.

One of the real advantages of staying in the cottage is the wonderful drive up to Campo Imperatore - the Emperor's Field. This is the largest plateau in the Apennines and is a favourite of film makers due to its unique scenery. The famous "spaghetti" westerns were all filmed here.

In the surrounding area, there are many hill top villages which are well worth a visit and each offering its own unique experience. Our favourite hill top village is Loreto Aprutino which is 20 minutes away. There is a large market everyThursday morning offering everything you can imagine from vegetables, material, tools to local cheeses!
