The house had been restored from an old barn and whilst it had been converted well, and finished to a high standard, there were a few quirks to be found. I felt that the layout downstairs was a little strange and given the overall size of the house the kitchen could have been bigger. Also, given the size of the two bathrooms, which were huge, there was no bath fitted, just a smallish shower cubicle in the upstairs bathroom and the downstairs bathroom was fitted out as a wet room.
The outside of the property would be my main cause for concern. The rear garden was not fenced around the house. My children are 11 and 9 and can be trusted on their own but younger children could easily gain access to the fast road (90kmh) that passes the front of the house. My other problem would be the lack of comfortable outside furniture. It would have been lovely to sit and enjoy a glass a wine as we watched the sun set but the only furniture provided was the purple table and chairs as shown in the photographs. These were passable for a meal but were not suitable for passing a relaxing evening.
Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice house to stay in, as the photos show. These are accurate and show the house off well. The house is just let down by the lack of attention given to the outside that the inside has received.
Also, the nearest village, that being Mornay-Berry itself, has no shops or other facilities that I could find. We used the local Intermarché, situated in Nérondes, about 5km south for provisions.
