In the heart of Epernay (Hugh Lead Place), close to restaurants, shops and 100 meters from the famous Avenue de Champagne, superb standard apartment "penthouse" renovated 135 m² + 120 m² roof terrace without vis-à-vis and with stunning views of Epernay and its slopes (overlooking Hautvillers Abbey of Dom Pérignon and birthplace of Champagne). This apartment for max 8 persons (3 bedrooms + a double sofa bed in the living room) is the perfect compromise for spending a cozy and tourist stay in Epernay. Bottle of champagne on arrival and possibility babysitting during the stay!

Perfect location

This property is located in the heart of the town. All amenities, including grocery store and champagne houses are within walking distance which allowed us to park the car and then forget about it. The apartment is a good size although more seating in the living room would be nice. The apartment comes with exclusive use of a rooftop patio which would be fabulous in the warmer months. Beds are quite firm which good be good or bad depending on your preference.

Pro: location, size, patio, kitchen is small but has everything needed to cook full meals, shower/bath room is giant in size

Cons: double bed (not Queen) was pretty small, very steep two flights to get to apartment (you do get used to them though), shower is moldy

Cute, conveniently located apartment

The apartment was very conveniently located for our stay in Epernay. Everything, including the train station, is a quick 5-10 min walk, including the Avenue de Champagne. The apartment is very large and bright, and the rooftop is great, although we were only able to use it once as it was cold in the evenings. Philippe was very responsive to our emails, suggested some restaurants, and was accomodating for us when we requested an extra night at the last minute (he also drove our bags to the train station for us so we wouldnt have to walk with them!) The biggest downside to the apartment is there is only one bathroom, which has the only mirror in the apartment. With a group of 5 women, this was challenging for us all to shower and get ready in a timely way. A few more mirrors in the bedrooms would be great. Also, The lighting in the bathroom was not great. However, the bedrooms are very large, airy and light. We enjoyed being able to sit around the table in the bright, large kitchen in the morning and enjoy our coffee. One more thing to be aware of, the apartment is on the second level with steep stairs. While this was not a problem for us, it might be for some people who have difficulty with stairs. I would recommend this property for anyone visiting Epernay, just be prepared to share the bathroom.

Great apartment, fantastic location!

Starting with the owner, Philippe - his communication prior to and during our stay was great and he was very helpful at making restaurant recommendations etc.

The apartment is very spacious and light - we were 3 couples, with 3 good sized bedrooms, lots of natural light and a lovely roof terrace. It's centrally located and very close to restaurants, bars and the main Champagne Houses - we couldn't fault it and would definitely have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. My only comment to Philippe was to put a mirror in each bedroom as there was only one mirror, located in the bathroom, which meant getting ready for dinner took a little longer than usual!!

We all loved Epernay and will certainly be returning and staying at the apartment in the near future.

Spacious apartment in a great location

Firstly, Philippe was excellent on all communication and responses. He was friendly and prompt in all contact.

The apartment is a large airy place with a long corridor connecting all the rooms. The roof terrace is actually larger than it looks in the pictures and is a great spot for breakfast or to pop a bottle of local produce.

The bedrooms are 1 x double and 2 x twins, the beds are comfortable and all come with what we found to be pretty standard French pillows (which are quite flat by UK standards) this is not a criticism just something to note.

If you are anything like we were you probably won't spend much time in the apartment as there is much to see, do and explore in the Epernay area, either within the town itself or the surrounding villages.

Overall, for the price, convenience and space we were got I feel this apartment offers great value for money and I'd happily stay there again.

Large, comfortable accommodation in center of town

My compliments first to Philippe who quickly responded to all messages and questions in perfect English.

We were two mature couples who stayed for three nights in the Epernay penthouse. The photos are entirely accurate for this very large unit. If you are like me, you may wonder about the layout of the various bedrooms in terms of their positioning. When you enter the apartment and start down the long hallway, one of the first doors on the right is the stairway to the wonderful roof terrace. Next on the right side is the entry to the first bedroom shown in the photos (white bed linens and gray and white walls). This is the room i slept in. The beds are a little bit low. There is a very big walk-in closet behind the wall behind the bed....lots of space for suitcases, hanging clothes, or using the long shelves above the hangars. That room also has direct access into the BATH room (the next hall/door on right side of the long corridor) that space is very big with plenty of storage in drawers under the sink or a big closet not shown in photos. The small toilet room is in the final space off to the right side if corridor, just before you enter the lounge living area.

The other two bedrooms are both off to the left side of the main corridor.....the photo showing the orange wardrobe is the first of the two bedrooms (plenty of shelving in the wardrobe).

The living, dining, kitchen are all at the back of the unit, facing the back of the house....lots of windows and lights and space. Everything is very nice in there.

Window shutters make all the bedrooms very dark at night if you like. If you are a light sleeper who would like to sleep past seven am, i suggest you wear some earplugs because the cafe in the back street starts dragging furniture to set up all of their outside tables right about then. Otherwise it is not a noisy area.

We made good use of the Carrefour market across the square from the house. They have almost anything you could want including great pates and other goodies to enjoy on the lovely roof terrace.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner one evening at LE BANQUE. Relaxed and lovely atmosphere, fair pricing and good food.

We recommend the Epernay apartment. While Epernay is an impersonal town, it is a good base to explore the champagne touristic routes which go in all directions, or to visit the large champagne houses that are within walking distance. Nearby Hautevillars is charming to visit.

Amazing apartment, great location

We had a wonderful time in Epernay and this fantastic apartment with great location, in the city center, was a big part of it. The apartment has three large bedrooms (good blinds to make it dark, we all slept well) and a well equipped kitchen! The rooftop terrace, where we had our breakfast was just amazing, stunning view. Food store and bakery just 100 meters away, train station 5 min away, restaurants and Champagne tasting close by as well. The owner was very helpful (and fluent in English).
