Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday villa in Cipières - Maligathe

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, wrap-around terrace with view, pool

Our house is very spacious, with high quality furnishings and a stunning view of the village and surrounding mountains. On the ground floor is a fully equipped, open-area kitchen, entrance hall and living room with a fireplace. There is also a dedicated game/TV room, a bedroom with two twin beds and a bathroom/shower/WC. Rooms on the ground floor have full-size shutters opening directly onto the wrap-around terrace. The living room sofa can also transform into a double bed.

The second story has a large master bedroom with a private balcony and desk. There is also an additional corner bedroom (& pullout bed) and a full bath, shower and separate WC. All bedrooms have closets and storage options for clothing and equipment.

The fenced yard contains a children's playhouse, swing set and an Intex swimming pool. We also have several comfortable lounge chairs for relaxing, enjoying the view and stargazing.

Cipières is a perfect mix of the tranquility of the French Alps countryside with easy access to the Riviera's myriad tourist destinations.

It's a simple day trip to the Promenade des Anglais or Palais de Festivals. Or why not an early morning swim at the sandy beaches of Antibes or Théoule sur Mer? Or perhaps you would prefer Marineland, Aquasplash or the crazy tree houses of the Bois des Lutins. For thrill seekers, you can try canyoning , paraponting or a via ferrata. You may add on the various cultural opportunities, such as the Fondation Maeght, La Chapelle Matisse, Picasso Museum, or the Jardin Renoir .

After the tourist scene, you can relax in Cipières with several nearby hikes, a dip in the river 'Le Loup', some excellent back country restaurants, picturesque village hopping or simply sipping wine on the terrace enjoying the quiet beauty. Our high altitude village is also mosquito free.

The Cipières and Gréolières Comités des Fêtes also sponsor several local activities, including soapbox derby, trail running, carnival, beaujolais nouveau bingo, outdoor cinema, harvest festivals, children's olympics, concerts, repas de rue and several other events.

About Cecilia

We are a five-person Franco-American family with three young children. We have lived year-round in Cipières for several years, enjoying the seasons and the atmosphere of a beautiful French village.

Among what we loved the most are the amazing views, the quiet and secluded atmosphere, the bells of the clock tower, the fresh air and mountain feel.

We now live closer to the city but we love to come back on a regular basis to light a fire, sit back and relax, go hiking or skiing, enjoy the springtime wild flowers and blooming trees, or simply bath in the warm summer sunshine.

Cecilia purchased this villa in 2009

A week in fantastic Cipieres in the Alpes Maritime in a house with great views

  • 5 of 5

A well equipped, clean and spacious modern house 40 minutes from Nice International airport, close to the village centre, which was ideal for a family reunion on the occasion of our grandson's christening. We were a party of 6 large adults and the beds currently provided might be better advertised as more suitable for 4 adults plus children, as the pull out double bed was a bit rocky, but no problem as I wasn't in it! Otherwise the house had all we needed, and everything worked from Wi-Fi to showers to log burner. The views are stunning and the people of Cipieres interesting, friendly and welcoming, especially when we tried to speak French. Many of the village came to the christening which filled the chapel and we had a great BBQ with them all under the trees outside afterwards, which went on to a party at the house overlooking the village ending at 4.00am the next morning. There aren't too many small villages that can boast a global magazine, two world champions and an Olympic snow boarder! After the main event for us we ate in the very good bar in the square, we visited Vence St Paul, Valbonne, Nice (shopping and culture), Cannes (to be seen), Antibes (to mingle with the yachties, and drink) and Gordon (for the view), all within easy driving, and travelled the famous 'James Bond' road to the ski resort. There is an excellent Cornish artist in Cipieres called Joe (Aron) who hangs his pictures in the other very good restaurant in the village, Le Vieux Vigne. The village supermarket provides essentials at a price, but you are better off big shopping down the hill in Cagny sur Mer. There is a small market in the village on Fridays with fresh meat and fish. Great fresh air, great views and walks ( para gliding if you prefer and have a head for heights, and for which it is a world renowned site), good food and a pretty, clean village; what more could you want. A great place to stay and relax. Highly recommended. Pity it was only a week, but we will be abck.

A welcoming house in an idyllic location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic 4 night stay over Easter in Cecilia and Dan's house in the beautiful village of Cipieres. The house is perfectly located at the top of the village, which affords amazing views over the surrounding scenery, but is just moments walk to the small village square, which has 3 restaurants, a small shop and (imminently) a little bar. A 30 minute drive brings you to Greolieres les Neiges, which meant we could arrange a days skiing with ease.

The house itself is spacious, welcoming, and well equipped - especially if you are bringing children. My 3 kids adored their stay there, mainly due to the well stocked play room, the wendy house in the garden, and the swing set.

The owners are a French/American couple, and you get the best of both worlds - a beautiful French styled house, with American touches such as big beds, a large shower, and well equipped kitchen.

We felt so relaxed during our stay, being a small safe village our older children had a bit more independence than they can normally have, and my husband and I felt like taking retirement in our 40's and moving there!

Thanks Cecilia and Dan for a great holiday - we will be back before you know it!
