Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Home Owners,

We thank you very much for letting us stay in your cottage. We really enjoyed it. We went on the boats and fished. The cabin was very cozy with comfortable beds. The lake was an amazing view. We ended up being able to see the bald eagle! That was awesome because we saw him go hunting into the water! At night we would make smores & hot dogs on the fire pit. They tested great! Thanks again! ;)

Winter Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Peace and quiet and serenity - exactly what I needed. I just love the coziness of the cabin and the "beach side cottage" decor was such a welcome atmosphere in the middle of winter. I had the beautiful floor to cathedral ceiling fireplace blazing during my entire stay. If this had been a normal New England winter, I would have done some cross country skiing, skating, snow shoeing right out the door and accross the gorgeous lake (what a view). I'm a little relieved that I it wasn't a normal winter though, because it gave me the opportunity to totally relax. I had time to cook and paint (artist) and read. I imagine this to be a perfect cabin for a writer in the middle of winter too. Thank you to Rindy for providing a great escape.

Lovely, peaceful, immaculate cottage on a beautiful lake

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is really comfortable and had everything we needed for a brief getaway. The owner was friendly but unobtrusive. I have only one dissatisfaction, but it doesn't have to do with the cottage itself. It may not be applicable to many people, but I'll mention just in case. My husband and both found the little kayaks very uncomfortable and tippy. Of course I know that when you rent a cottage that advertises kayaks you might not be getting 'top-of-the-line,' but if you're a bit older and/or have some back trouble -- they are really not suitable for what we would consider a decent and long-enough ride. It was one of the key elements that helped us choose this place. As I said, everything else was fantastic - we checked at the marina to see about a future rental of better boats but that won't be possible - so -- sad to say, we may look around a bit more for next time for a place that addresses this concern. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely place! There are great little towns nearby, too!

2nd time here - totally outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we stayed here. Perfect. Kayaking was great again on this quiet lake. The lake is about 1 mile long so it's great for a peaceful ride. Big back yard and a great fire pit. The backyard is surrounded by trees so it's very private. Inside was super clean. Has all the amenities. We plan on coming back for a longer stay. The owner is the best!

This lakefront cottage was exactly as advertised.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was exactly as advertised! Very clean, well equipped and wonderfully quiet while still being close to town. Rindy, the owner introduced herself when we first arrived and told us to let her know if we needed anything. Late in the week we needed a tray for the stove and she was there in 10 minutes but we otherwise never saw her, as she was giving us our privacy. The screened in porch was perfect at all times of the day and we would happily rent this cottage again.

Serene and relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

We reserved the cottage for a week in mid-July hoping for privacy, waterfront views, good fishing, hiking, and swimming. Unfortunately, one of us fractured her knee-cap in May, and the hiking portion of our agenda was sidelined by a bulky leg brace. In all other aspects, we found everything we hoped for. The waterfront was quiet, spacious and private, the view of the lake and hills beyond was spectacular and exactly as advertised. The little rowboat was perfect for fishing, and the lake was full of bass, pickerel and perch. We bonded with the great blue heron who visited regularly and enjoyed quiet mornings of birdsong and starry evenings with the fireflies. Invasive weeds have unfortunately proliferated in this lake, but the water itself is clear and fresh. As other reviewers have attested, the cottage was clean, well maintained, and well-equipped, and the furnishings were charming and comfortable. Although we spent most of our time on the screened porch and deck, there was one particularly hot and muggy day when we were grateful for the very effective central AC. This is a delightful cottage in a beautiful part of Connecticut, and we definitely hope to return.

peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place for a vacation. The cabin was clean with a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed canoeing and kayaking the lake and side canal. We also enjoyed seeing some beautiful wildlife in the area. I Caught some nice Bass while fishing. We enjoyed cooking on the grill and having dinner outside on the deck or in the screened porch. We also enjoyed some nice meals out at the local restaurants. The local shops were fun to visit were we found some gifts for our family. At night the screened in porch was a bonus , the lake looked wonderful as the sun set at night and the indoor fireplace provided a nice touch removing the dampness the two nights it rained. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.We would easily recomend this spot to a friend or relative. I am sure we will be back again.
