About Giovanni Salvucci

We are Giovanni and Cristina Salvucci, 53 and 43 years, have three children: Clara 14, 12 and Federico Viola, 6.

We have this house since eleven years, using it for both our family and the guests. We personally take care of the cleaning and care of the house and garden

Why Giovanni Salvucci chose Urbisaglia

The house belongs to the Natural Reserve of Abbadia di Fiastra and is in our possession. My family is linked to this land for generations because my great grandfather Benedetto at the end of '800 was working as a game warden for the Princes Giustiniani Bandini, owners until 1974 the estate of 2,000 acres. My grandfather Giovanni was born here and he also worked for the principles before emigrating to Argentina in 1912.

My wife Cristina is a naturalistic guide and works in the Nature Reserve. And I, Giovanni, I like to take care of the house and the garden.

What makes this cottage unique

We are very loyal to this house because it is located in the middle of the nature reserve on the edge of the forest where already my great-grandfather was the gamekeeper, because it has a large private park with old trees, where our children spent their summers and where, summer in the early morning, you can see the scogliattoli and pheasants in front of the house.

Is possible to visit wineries close to the cottage and tasting of local wine and food. We can tell you where to go and bring you on the https://www.homeaway.co.uk/lm/611.13324.20493/description.html#tour.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a note to thank you again for your kind hospitality; we had such a relaxing break and I will be sure to send you the evidence of me in the pool (I went in most days, actually)! I should apologise for forgetting to write in the visitors’ book: we were a little disorganised yesterday. I hope that you all have a very happy Easter. Warm regards. Jacqui (via e-mail - Apr 8th 2007)

A shower room with a view.....

  • 5 of 5

I would just like to thank you and your family for making us so welcome at the cottage. You have a wonderful holiday home in a beautiful location, you maintain it well and the whole house is in superb condition.

We found the ambiance of the house perfect, the fact that we could just sit by the pool in private, lost in our own thoughts, talking, reading etc., was something the whole family needed.

For myself i found the daily runs around the Abbey and surrounding area absolutely marvellous, almost a different route every day. If i had also realised that the surrounding roads were perfect for a road bike i would have seriously thought about bringing my bike from the UK. It is a runners and cyclists paradise. Perhaps you are missing an opportunity in selling the house to those who cycle and run.

We found the pool a blessing during the long hot days and it was particularly inviting after day trips to the coast and the mountains. The small shop at the Abbey with the fresh produce and milk; that was something every village should aspire too. The cold milk, available in a glass bottle, was perfect; it took me back to my childhood.

On Max’s recommendation we took a couple of day trips into the hills, what a beautiful area, since we are all very keen skiers, i will watch with interest the webcams of the Ski resorts of Sassotetto, Maddalena and Bolognola, who knows, you may get a winter rental.

Every town has it's own Market day and it just so happened we must have been to most of them. A wonderful chance to experience another way of everyday living, Beats shopping at the major supermarkets anyday. Tolentino and Visso a must for the experience alone.

The outside shower room was excellent, a room with a view, my personal bathroom. The sunsets from the garden towards the mountains are what screen savers are made of and the swing, well not for the faint hearted, but with shout and whoops of laughter, we knew the children (and adults) were enjoying themselves.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, i can recommend the cottage to anyone who has a young family, (or older), would like the privacy of the house and pool and yet still be able to get about and enjoy the wonderfully friendly local people, experience the culture, visit the many small villages and sites of historical interest, all well away from the usual tourist trappings of the bigger and better know locations. Anyone who tries this location will not regret it. Ciao.

Nature at its best

  • 5 of 5

We loved it here as it is completely private and is surrounded by far-reaching views of wonderful countryside. As the days passed the fields were ever-changing as the hard-working farmers went through the processes of tilling the land after the harvest. We were able to see the locality on foot and also used the car for relatively short journeys to explore many of the surrounding villages and recommended churches as recommended in the useful guidebook provided. Being quite close to the coast, we did make one excursion, to the reserve south of Ancona, but wished we hadn't as, being July, it was far too crowded-we soon headed back to the peace of the cottage's grounds! The house itself is not spacious, no problem in good weather as the grounds are so superb with various options for eating outside. Some may find cooking for more than 4 a challenge as the kitchen is compact! It will take some doing to find another property with its own outdoor space such as this and we may one day return.

Schönes Landhaus in bester Lage

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage with a great garden

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is a very nice place to stay for a holiday. It's got all the things you need and although it's not that big it has got enough space. But the most amazing aspect is the garden, it was huge and beautifull. For us, with 2 little childeren, it had plenty of room to play. We loved the pool! Also, you can choose your place to sit: in the sunshine or in the nice shade of the gazebo.

The cottage is located in a quiet area; in the evening all we heard were the birds.

When we stayed there we visited lovely villages, a castle, the beach and ofcourse the abbadia.

The owner does everything to make sure you have a comfortable stay.

We would definitley recommend it for anyone's holiday!

Bellissimo soggiorno in un oasi di pace.

  • 5 of 5

Stefano Barletti.

Un'oasi di tranquillità

  • 5 of 5

Stefano, Marina, Fanio e Paola.

The cottage is located in Fiastra Abbey Nature Reserve (Abbadia di Fiastra), at the edge of a 100 ha wood with a stunning view of Fiastra Valley. Many paths pass through the Reserve from one end to another, where you can walk or ride. The manège is only 2 km far from the cottage. The Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra is one of the best preserved Cistercian monastery in Italy. Founded in the 12th century, it still preserves, besides the imposing church, many of the ancient rooms of the monastery: refectory, chapter house, cloister, cellar and store houses. In the monastery there still is a small community of Cistercian monks. The area around the Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra is a wide park reserved to pedestrians where you can find two bars, a typical restaurant, a self-service restaurant, a pizzeria, an open-air bar and the food store selling the products of the local farmers. In Urbisaglia, the small town which is 5 km far, you will find many other shops and services.

Other Activities: Cultural activities: museums, monuments, events.
