Great choice

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two nights and everything was perfect! All was as it was described in the listing. Great central location, tucked away in an ally so not car traffic, just plenty of pedestrians. Down the street from a night club with music playing but stops early in the evening. House is small but very comfortable. Great kitchen (but we never used it- great restaurants everywhere). Bed wasn't the most comfortable but not horrible. Upstairs family room packed with DVD's and very comfortable sectional sofa. Roof top deck is amazing. Price is good for a house rental. Don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed.

Not the best value, but you can't beat the location

  • 4 of 5

Pros

• Location, location, location

• Washer/dryer & dishwasher

• Roof deck & patio

• Two separate toilet rooms

• Comfortable bed

• Ceiling fans

• Lots of people using the stairs from Bradford to Masonic place to get to Commercial St, so there is a lot of good people watching

• Prompt return of the security deposit

Cons

• No WiFi!

• The price

• Both sliding doors on the first and second floors were broken

• There were no umbrellas on the roof deck or the patio

• It felt like the bathroom was in the bedroom or vice versa

• Nowhere to hang up towels to dry

• No dishrack to let clean dishes dry (we ended up buying one)

• Those kayaks you see locked up on the side of the house are not for your use

• The house sleeps two comfortably. Do not plan a week for more than two in this house.

• There is an inexplicable block of wood protruding on the spiral staircase that you’ll hit your head on at some point, probably several times (my husband and I did)

• Do not traverse the spiral staircase in socks only or you may slip and fall (my husband and I did)

• The hatch to the roof deck is a pain in the butt to open and keep open, making it a deterrent to go up there

The pictures on the website are not current. They should be updated. And why are there two pictures of the same bed made up differently? Very confusing.

When asked about the broken sliding screen doors shortly after our arrival, we were told it couldn’t be true, that they were working previously and very expensive and difficult to repair. He later conceded that they were broken after we sent a picture. His response was that if we hadn’t told him about the broken sliding screen doors, he would have thought we did it. Not helpful. Later he told us that they were not getting repaired during our stay, so we had to improvise by using furniture (chairs and a small dresser) to prop the screen doors closed which was not conducive to having guests over. We were disappointed that there was no offer to compensate us in any way, given that every house has screens on their doors and windows to keep the bugs out.

Overall, we had a good time staying at the Tower House, but we didn’t feel it was a good value. If it were, say, $500 less, we could forgive the little idiosyncrasies, but for $2300 a we expected more attention to detail and better responsiveness from the owners.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Dan. We appreciate both positive and negative reviews. I am disappointed that you were not able to express to me the 'cons' during our numerous phone calls with each other during your stay. I was under the assumption that your stay went quite well besides the mishap with the screen doors from the previous tenant. In any case, thanks again for letting us know what we can improve on! Highly Recommended P-town Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I have spent two weeks in the Tower House every summer for the past several years and we love it! It's tucked away on a tiny side street yet central to everything P-town has to offer, with the restaurants, clubs, and shops of Commercial Street just a short, one-block walk away. The house is super clean and comfortable, equipped with everything you need for a great stay, and the owners Chris and Nathan are very friendly and responsive. Views from the third floor living room are spectacular and the roof deck is an excellent place for sunning and cocktails. All in all the Tower House is a really special place for a relaxing vacation in fabulous P-town - highly recommended!

Great Property, Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

The Tower House is a wonderful property in a great location. Everything is incredibly close and the Masonic Place location is quiet without being out of the way. The roof deck has some of the finest views of the entire town second only to the Monument! The house is well appointed and comfortable with everything you could need for an extended stay. Chris and Nathan are fantastic hosts, responsive and attentive. They are always looking for ways to improve your stay. The house is best used by a single person or a couple. The open floor plan and primary bath in the master bedroom make it difficult to share. Also, the spiral stairs are no problem for us but should be considered for guests that are not as mobile. We have stayed in the Tower House for many years and look forward to many more!

Great place

Great place to stay and great owners!! We were here in the early off-season, so it was fun without being madness. The house has everything you need and is bigger than it looks. We would absolutely stay here again!!

Pictures don't do it justice...

  • 4 of 5

After staying here July 4th week 2010, I lloked back @ the pics and realized it was much nicer than it looks! The kitchen has been redone with much nicer appliances and furniture and the bedroom is much nicer too! There were beautiful flowers in front and the house was adorable...my only complaint was the nose from the club goers late at night...but I should have been partying with them and not trying to sleep I suppose! All in all, I would recommend this great, convenient house to anyone who's looking for a romantic getaway with great evening views...cooking some at home was a huge plus too!
