About the property

New for 2014 HydraVista is a brand new development providing luxurious split level independent accommodation built to the highest standards and licensed by EOT, the Greek Tourism Organisation. Located in a prime position in Plakes Vlichou, enjoying unparalleled 180 degree views of the Peloponnese mainland including the islands of Spetses and Dokos, this ever changing vista culminates in some spectacular sunsets as the sun slowly sinks behind the hills of the mainland.

A small, mainly pebble/partially sandy beach is just a few paces below the property where the crystal clear waters are internationally recognised as amongst the cleanest in the world.

The Four Seasons resort is just a few minutes stroll where an organised beach is available with one of the finest lunchtime restaurants located on the beach providing fresh fish, home cooking, coffee and refreshments.

The jetty is located a minute's walk below the property where a shuttle boat to the port runs every fifteen to thirty minutes during the summer months. Alternatively take a leisurely stroll along the coastal path through Vlichos, across the old 17th Century footbridge and through the picturesque village of Kamini to the town - approximately a 35 to 40 minute walk.

Hydra town offers a cosmopolitan night-life with plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of Plakes Vlichou with the opportunity to unwind and enjoy the simple, stress-free lifestyle.

About Trevor Stokes

Trevor is British, married to Lili who is Greek, with two daughters Deborah & Caroline and HydraVista is owned jointly between the four of us. Having lived in London and Athens a day trip to Hydra convinced us that this was the ideal lifestyle for us - an island free of traffic and those wretched motorbikes which blight so many islands. The nearest we get to pollution is stepping over donkey droppings. This is a paradise for fresh air, clean sea and plenty of sun, as well as a treat for animal lovers with many cats well known to the island.

Between us we speak English, Greek and German with a modicum of French.

Trevor Stokes purchased this villa in 2005

Why Trevor Stokes chose Idra

We found this piece of land in 2005 and set our hearts on it even though it was not for sale at the time. By sheer perserverance it became ours and then followed the arduous task of building on an island without transportation.

The end result is a spectacular location right on the sea with a luxuriously finished accomodation where we have paid attention to details such as the Health beds imported from the UK which guarantee a comfortable night's sleep, designer wicker furniture and a kitchen equipped with Miele fridge, hob and microwave.

What makes this villa unique

The view is special. It changes by the hour and you can pass the time of day simply watching the boats and occasional donkey passing. It is peaceful and relaxed but within walking distance of a couple of noteable restaurants, two organised beaches as well as the small beach immediately below, and the town of Hydra just a few minutes boat ride away. It offers the best of both worlds. The exclusive patio and garden area provides the opportunity to sunbathe in private with views across the sea to the mainland and up to the mountains behind the property. The sunsets are remarkable.

What a lovely get away! The villa is perfect with lovely white décor and lots of outdoor seating, a very comfortable bed and well appointed kitchen (not that you want to cook...as the restaurants are great and food spectacular). The outdoor patio areas overlooking the sweeping ocean views are stunning. The villa is a 4km walk into the town, or enjoy the local restaurants nearby. Water taxis or scheduled boat shuttles are easily available. Great swimming just steps from the villa. Trevor is the ultimate host - so friendly and helpful but not intrusive. He made any arrangements we requested and anticipated those we should have! This is the best host we have ever had!

Enjoy Being Away from It All

  • 5 of 5

This place was paradise for us: well situated location, well furnished, clean and offering stunning sunsets every night. But above all that, Trevor is a friendly, responsive, helpful host. If you want to really feel away from the hustle and bustle of the world, this is the place to stay. While near enough to the necessary facilities (groceries, restaurants), it provides a calm and beautiful place to unwind.

Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our host Trevor and his daughter offered the most wonderful hospitality upon arrival at Hydra Vista. The villa is gorgeous, beautifully decorated, air conditioned - and the views were just incredible. Morning coffee on the patio watching the fishing boats come and go over the Aegean was peaceful and relaxing. The local people so friendly and accommodating with a 5 star restaurant for lunch and dinner just a few minutes walk away. All of the restaurants in the area are quaint, offer extraordinary views and delicious food. I couldn't wish for anything more and booked for the following summer before leaving the island.

Amazing for a honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for something special for our honeymoon in Hydra and Hydra Vista is truly great. We spent 8 days there and was really fantastic, from de stylish house to the breathtaking patio with a great seaview and fantastic sunset. Also the 2 days we had big rain we could enjoy better the inside of the home.

The house is in a great location with a lot of privacy; in front of it there is a little pebbles beach and near Plakes Beach, the Hydra Port is accessible in some minutes with taxi boat or walking for 30-40 minutes near the sea for a simple trail.

Trevor was a wonderful host, he took us from the port and explain all of the house; also he leaved us a welcome basket that we enjoyed.

It was a pleasure to meet him and i hope we will come back again.

Hydra Vista - ein wahrer Geheimtip!

  • 5 of 5

Hydra is an island for relaxation. A step back into a slower pace of life where motor vehicles and even bicycles are prohibited. Transport is by sea-taxi, shuttle boat or by foot where glorious walks along the coastal path from the town to Plakes Vlichou proves a pleasurable experience in all seasons. The clean, unpolluted air and the local micro climate make the experience invigorating. Walks are unlimited on the island, up to some of the remote mountain top monasteries or to the uninhabited south-west coast of the island where quiet beaches can be found.

Hydra town boasts some fine old mansions, a museum and frequent art exhibitions from many well known Greek and international artists who reside on the island. Hydra has been, and remains, an inspiration to artists who fall in love with the light and textures. Poets, writers and musicians have always been attracted to Hydra and many live here permanently.

There is also a diving school, donkey rides and plenty of interesting churches but first and foremost it is a place to enjoy the simple life with an amazing selection of restaurants, tavernas, bars and cafes to while away your time.

Hydra is far from the commercial tourist traps and caters for people looking for a unique type of vacation.
