We needed a place to stay prior to our wedding and also to accommodate our friends who had travelled over from Canada to join us in celebrating our wedding. Everything was perfect even down to the owners very, very kindly leaving us a bottle of wine and a card wishing us well and also allowing us to stay on an extra couple of hours as the wedding was only scheduled for 12:30. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone considering a comfortable, clean and well maintained place to stay.
It is really very good property. Very nice and clean. Me, my wife and 3 kids spent very good time there. Excellent location close to many shops and major attraction of the town. The location is also very quiet and really good for people who look for stressless time. I highly recommend this property for all friends.
House was everything we wanted for a great holiday and would definitely stay again. The shops are literally round the corner, house only 5 minutes walk from the model village in Babbacombe and ten minutes to Babbacombe Downs. Bus service into Torquay just down the road and the house itself was clean, spacious and comfortable, just needs a new tumble dryer - desperately!!
this is our third time to abbey mews and we enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable although the furniture is a little dated. but very clean.our only gripe was the condition of the cups but other wise everything was thought of to make your stay great.
Abbey Mews is a pleasant house set in the heart of Babbacombe, Torquay. The living space is spacious and suited to 5 guests though the dining table has 4 chairs and an additional folding chair.
As a self-catering property, it has all the facilities you might expect (if you decide to make your own scones - rolling pin & cutter provided!). The oven did seem to take some getting used to and the washing machine (purchased August 1992) took somewhat longer than expected (e.g. put it on and go out for 3 hours and return to find it just finishing) but it was useful to have it available.
The beds were comfortable and the gulls ensure that you do not lie in too long in the mornings. The master bedroom had a useful balcony/roof area with lovely sunshine.
The bathroom had a good shower. The only toilet is in the bathroom.
The parking 'space' opposite the house was sufficiently big to allow two small cars to park side by side.
A short walk takes you to Babbacombe's famous Model Village (where you can pay once & return a second time, e.g. for the evening Illuminations) and it is not far to the sea front.
It is a very convenient location for shopping with Sainsbury's Local & Coop along the street and Waitrose in the other direction along with other useful shops. Excellent fish & chip shops.
Great holiday home in Torquay with all amenities and comforts. We enjoyed our stay. The only minus is that the white goods (particularly the washing machine) as well as the furniture is quite outdated. Some investment in changing at least the white goods would improve the venue significantly.
