Wonderful property and host. The area is beautiful and peaceful. It's easy to visit Monet's garden at Giverny and Versailles. Both were beautiful and not to be missed. Thank you Valentine for sharing your lovely property with us.

A Beautiful Restful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We whole heartedly endorse a stay at Pierrelue! Our family of 5 visited the 2nd week of April and the gardens were beautiful with cherry trees and daffodils in bloom. "Gite Solstice" is bright and sunny with views of the garden, the kitchen had everything we needed and we found the beds to be very comfortable. We were traveling with grandparents and particularly appreciated a bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the ground floor. Our 13 year-old daughter loved visiting with the owners’ dogs and playing tennis. We took day trips to Paris, Giverny, Versailles and Rambouillet, which were memorable. We avoided the motorways and drove small country roads enjoying views of rolling hills, fields of rapeseed, and charming old villages. Valentine and Thibault were perfect hosts and thought of every need. Pierrelue exceeded our expectations in every way and we would most definitely visit again.

A Magical Place

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our two-year old son, and I had the good fortune to spend three months at the “Gite Solstice” located on the beautiful grounds of Pierrelue. The house itself is enchantingly decorated, intelligently designed, and simply a dream to stay in. Valentine, our host, thought of every comfort in her design of the house and was exceptionally welcoming and very helpful whenever we had a question. The land surrounding the house provides a pleasant walk through a lovely grove, a commanding view of the neighboring valley, and warm greetings from the Basquin’s friendly dogs. The history of Pierrelue is quite interesting and the ancient Celtic stones on the property are living testament to the land’s role as a meeting place for the Carnutes. The surrounding countryside is picturesque and the nearby town of Maule is quaint and offers an excellent boulangerie, a world-class chocolatier, several restaurants, cafes, and boutiques, as well as a movie theater and pedestrian pathways connecting everything. From Maule, it is an easy (and direct) train ride into downtown Paris. I simply can’t say enough about this wonderful place! If you have the opportunity to stay at Pierrelue, you should take it!

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 8 days here, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The location was great for trips into Paris by train, Monet Gardens, and other places. The owner is a very warm person, and couldn't have been nicer, and was not, at all, intrusive. The property is beautiful, and the house has all the things on needs for a comfortable stay. We would highly recommend, and would stay here again, if travelling to this area.
