Barcelona is such a great city! We both visited Barcelona before we met and had an instant love affair with the city and its people. We wanted to buy an apartment which we could use to explore Barcelona and experience the sights, sounds and aromas that make Barcelona such a great place to visit. There is no place so emblematic than Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and we chose an apartment that gives us the comfort of home within walking distance to all the sights in the historic part of the city.
We love strolling over to the famous Ramblas and visiting the incredible La Boqueria market which recently celebrated its 150th anniversary - unique in all of Europe. Some of our favorite restaurants are just minutes away by foot or taxi. We love walking along the boardwalk on the Barceloneta beach at sunset.
My family and I (including kids ages 12, 13, & 16) stayed in this apartment in Barcelona in June. It is a beautiful apartment--clean, high ceilings, plenty of space. There are huge windows in the living room to let in light, but with wooden covers if you want it darker. The bedrooms can be made very dark and are very quiet when the doors are closed--lovely! The bathrooms are newly updated and are very nice. Juan met us and showed us around. He was very nice and helpful and mentioned a few different places to go. The location in the Gothic Quarter is fantastic! There are a few bakeries a street or two up that were nice in the mornings. It is also a short walk to the beach. Just down on the corner is a tapas place that Juan recommended that serves very few things, one of which is fried anchovies. They are awesome and I highly recommend going there at least once or three times during your stay. If we ever make it back to Barcelona, I would love to stay in this apartment again!
This was our first trip to Spain , travelling with our 3 college (19/ 20 year old) kids/ students. We arrived via train from Madrid, taxi to apartment and were met by Juan , who was extremely friendly and helpful. The place looked exactly like the pictures, (which if you have stayed at other VRBO places is often not the case.) the 2 plus 1 bedrooms and two bathrooms were perfect. We were fortunate enough to see Barcelona FC beat Arsenal at the famed Camp Nou, which was relatively easy to get to via the METRO. Everything else was very accessible, we walked almost everywhere , found fantastic Tapas bars and restaurants. After my wife and I turned in at night the 3 students , stayed out much later and felt very safe in the neighborhood. We hope to come back to Barcelona in the near future and would definitely book the same apartment . ( 4 fabulous days with family)
I can only repeat the excellent reviews that my fellow travelers have written about their experience at this wonderful location. Everything was first-class, from the location, to the appointments. Juan, the managef, met our cab, explained the details, from the wi-fi, the tv, the printer, the washer and dryer, the coffee maker, the wonderful bathrooms with toiletries, etc.
This apartment is perfectly located, one block from the passage de colon, the waterfront, and within easy walking distance of the ramblas. There are numerous tapas and wine bars within steps of the apartment.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone who would like to have the best introduction to Barcelona.
This was our first experience with VRBO and we were definitely not disappointed. As others have already said, the location couldn't be better. It was like having that perfect apartment right in the middle of everything. The apartment itself is very clean and very comfortable. We were 5 adults (2 couples and 1 single) and we were very comfortable relaxing there at the end of long days of sightseeing. Juan met us at our taxi when we arrived and instantly made us feel comfortable and welcome. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the Gothic Quarter of beautiful Barcelona.
Our family of 5 rented this apartment in early April. My wife and I were visiting our son doing a semester study abroad in Barcelona and our parents (his grandparents) joined us as well. The apartment was clean, well kept, and met our needs perfectly. The welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch, as well as the American coffee maker with the coffee/tea provided by the owners. It was also nice to have access to the washer and dryer when needed. Other basic necessities such as shampoo, shower gel, toilet paper were provided and appreciated. This might not seem like a big deal if you're used to staying at a hotel, but not all apartment rentals include these amenities. The unit was on the 2nd floor and the apartment building did have a convenient elevator for the grandparents to use and for getting our heavy suitcases up and down.
The apartment did have WiFi included, which worked perfectly. In addition, they also had a printer available for use that proved to be very helpful. Many of the Barcelona tourist attractions require the pre-purchase of timed tickets. It was extremely helpful to be able to make these purchases online in the apartment and then print the tickets before heading out.
We thought the location was absolutely perfect. You are within easy walking distance of Las Ramblas and Barceloneta and the Metro station is just a few minutes away. There are many nearby restaurants, bars, bakeries, grocery stores, etc. We spent several evenings in the establishments right downstairs...less than a block away. The owner also provides a list of nearby restaurant recommendations and we visited some of these. La Luna turned out to be our favorite restaurant in Barcelona and that was listed as one of their recommendations.
Juan, the apartment manager was very friendly and helpful. The same is true of Diona, the rental manager. I had a few questions about Barcelona in general before our trip and they both were extremely helpful with their responses. We also pre-arranged our taxi to/from the airport through Diona and that went off without a hitch.
In summary, I would absolutely recommend this apartment to anybody staying in Barcelona and I would certainly look to stay here again if we are ever to return.
We are an American family of 4 (one teenager) who stayed here in March, 2016 for several days. We had a great time and highly recommend this apartment to others.
You really can't quibble with the location of this nice apartment. It is in the Barri Gotic and walking distance to everything from sights to shopping to restaurants and beaches. It's also centrally located and a good outpost to explore the city at your leisure.
The apartment is on one of a number of streets/pedestrian alleys that run parallel to the shoreline. Theoretically a car can come down the street, but overwhelmingly the traffic is pedestrian. We had no trouble getting to the apartment with our luggage and a taxi came for us out front when we left. Carrer Ample, the next street over, is replete with nice restaurants. Picasso apparently lived briefly along this block (but the apartment is not open to the public). We walked basically everywhere in the center of the city without difficulty.
Several of the Gaudi attractions were built in what was then the outskirts of town (or even the next town), so you'll need to use public transit to get to them, but taxi service was plentiful and reasonable. We did not try the metro service, but I understand it is very good.
Barcelona has lots of small groceries called "supermerkats". There were at least two of these stores within a 3-minute walk, so it was easy to stock up on essentials.
The apartment itself is on what we Americans consider the second floor. It was an easy walk up the stairs, but there is also a convenient elevator. The apartment has two decent sized bedrooms and one small bedroom with a single bed. There are two modern bathrooms, and a modern kitchen as well as a large and comfortable living room space. The apartment has the feel of a nicely decorated family home. There is a balcony out front with chairs and a small table to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass or wine. The wifi was fast and worked fine, which was important to us.
Juan met us at the apartment and also nicely arranged for a taxi back to the airport.
We were very happy that we had stayed here and would recommend it highly to others.
Barcelona Acquarium nearby. Private guided tours of Barcelona can be arranged on request. Bicycle rental and tours. Segway tours. Boating and Hot Air Ballooning. Visits to vineyards can be arranged.
Barcelona's medieval catherdral is a short stroll through the Gothic Quarter and near to Plaza Catalunya. The Picasso museum is just a few minutes away, in the heart of the Born.
Wander along to the Ramblas and soak up the colors, sights and sounds of the famous La Boquería market - a great place to have lunch. A few minutes further on brings you to the MACBA, Barcelona's museum of Contemporary Art.
Paseo de Gracia, with its famous Gaudi buildings - Casa Batllò and La Pedrera - is a short taxi ride away. Paseo de Gracia runs from the Plaza Catalunya up to Diagonal and is home to all the best designer shops.
The iconic Sagrada Familia - Gaudí's famous unfinished cathedral - is just a 15 minutes taxi ride.
Moving around Barcelona is easy: taxis are cheap and plentiful and public transport works really well. Two metro lines are only 5 mins away. The hop on/hop off Touristic Bus also stops nearby and is a great way to see the city.
