A classic period lakehouse on a pristine lake
TCV is a lovely place to spend a few days, or more preferably a whole summer. Situated on Watchic Lake near Portland Maine as well as Lake Sebago, it is a wonderful stepback in time to a summer lake cottage on a clear sandy bottomed lake.
The lake is amazing- clear and clean . The loons visit in early morning and at dusk. Power boats are allowed and many people kayak or canoe as well. There is a great floating dock to swim to to from the main dock for your morning or evening swim.
The lakehouse is vintage, with collections of the owners past growing up with her grandparents and cousins on the lake. There is an outside porch and a screened inside porch, plenty of sleeping space with comfy beds and a great kitchen with all kinds of pans and gadgets. Most awesome is an outside shower sheltered by trees from the adjacent lot that is just fun.
The cabin is dog friendly and has some land around the cottage to walk your dog as well as a fenced outside pen to keep them in, but mine always wanted to be where we were.
Bridget is a very helpful and repsonsive owner. Not far away is a great breakfast place, Percy's Table with the best breakfast hash with homemade corned beef!
We hiked around the Sebago lake watershed which the dogs loved as well. A very nice place in a nice location with plenty to do, but best, sunset on the lake. It faces west. Grab your wine and relax!
Just what we were looking for
What a terrific place!! We arrived to a very clean funky, rustic house on a beautiful, crystal clear lake. The purpose of this short vacation was to spend quality time with my two grown children and their families, especially my grand kids. The weather was not the best but we swam and fished every day. My granddaughter was thrilled to catch her first of a number of small fish. The roomy porches gave no concern for some rain. We enjoyed sitting by the campfire at night. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a similar stay. Thanks for sharing this great place with others.
Rustic cabin with lots of charm
It was like stepping back in time visiting this rustic cabin. Beautiful location right on the lake.Roomy and clean. It is rustic and original so be aware that noise travels very easily through out the house, and some of the doors don't close smoothly,etc...things you might expect from an old loved camp. Mega personality, lovely sitting areas.
Rustic, real Maine camp.
This is a true Maine lake camp. Right on the water with room for multiple generations to spread out. The kitchen was large, well equipped with everything you could ever need. Tha screen porch was a wonderful place to share meals and make memories. There were books, games and interesting artifacts that gave a sense of the owner’s family and what TCV meant to them. The dock, swim dock and rope swing were enjoyed by all. Fires and loons by night made for new memories. Bridget and Haley were always accessible to answer questions and to ensure our stay was truly enjoyable. Our party of 11 loved our stay and would certainly return again.
Great Value on Watchic Lake
Our group of twelve had a great time at this rustic lake house. We'd absolutely return again under similar circumstances.
The house is situated directly on Lake Watchic (which was actually much larger that we thought it was). The property is large and quite private, featuring a fire pit, picnic table, small dock, great sunsets, and plenty of seating. We were able to load our boat into the lake and dock it at the property which was a great feature.
The house was spacious - I liked how the sleeping quarters upstairs were nicely separated from the living quarters. Sound does travel throughout the house - but that should be expected given the rustic nature of the house, there is no sheetrock, just exposed wood/panel throughout the house. The house was abundant with rustic charm, and was actually the topic of many of our conversations as there are trinkets and items from many years past around every corner.
The owner was very pleasant to speak with and made herself and caretaker available to us if we needed anything.
