There are no noisy, unpleasant air condition units which typically cause a stream of cold air.
We are Norwegian family that moved to Galatas in June 2015 after 16 years in Athens.
We have been sailing a lot in the Saronics and in waters around the island of Poros, and we finally wanted to buy a piece of land that we could develop into a property to suit our preferences. This location in the Peloponnese is nice and especially enjoyable for people with interests involving in the sea and boat life.
The location is perfect with its closeness to the sea. It sits in quiet surroundings, yet only 1.5 km away from the towns of Galatas and Poros, offering amazing panoramic view of ships and sailing boats approaching Poros. Getting there is easy - it can be reached by car ( 2.5 hrs) from Athens or by boat ( 1.5 hrs) from Piraeus.
Villa Elia with it's amazing views & amenities was perfect for our 5 adults & 3 children. A home away from home, whether enjoying the day at the pool & BBQ area or visiting the local beaches. Anna & Vasily were always around if we needed anything, they kept the grounds, swimming pool and the villa in perfect condition.
Our 3 Grandchildren had a wonder full time and every day, since we are back, they are talking and asking when we will be returning for another holiday at the Villa Elia.
We would definitely recommend Villa Elia.
We have just come back from a wonderful, relaxing week at Villa Elia. The views were spectacular, the location was perfect and the pool and outside spaces gave the villa a very exclusive feel. The surrounding area is very attractive with wooded hillsides etc. When we could tear ourselves away from the pool area, we had a lovely day trip to the island of Hydra and made frequent short trips to Poros on the little passenger ferries.
Would definitely recommend and hope to return soon.
We had a wonderful stay at Vila Elia in July 2015. The house is new and very well equipped , and for a family of 8 the house was just perfect. In fact the best house we've rented through all our vacations.
Our 6 youngsters ( age 20-26) loved the fantastic infinity pool with a lovely sea view and spent a lot of time there. We ate every breakfast in the lovely eating/ sitting area near the pool, looking over the bay.
As mentioned by other guests, the Swedish houskeeper Ann was really lovely and helpfull, She fixed taxies and taxi boats and was only a phonecall away. One evening she made us a nice greek dinner served in the BBQ area.
You do not need a car but to and from Galatas and Lidl it is convenient , but a taxi costs only 5 €. We rented a small car from Pops Car in Galatas. There is a good Lidl in Galatas where you can pay with Visa/Master.
We didn`t eat i Galatas but took taxi boat to beautiful Poros, a very Greek island with many good restaurants.
The beaches in the neighborhood are not big and sandy but 5 minutes walking from the house there is a nice small beach with sunbeds an a taverna. About 15 mins walk there is another more private beach.
We didn`t go sightseeing, we just loved the house and in the neighborhood, but one can easily reach the beaches on Poros or take a day trip to Hydra.
The owners, Inger and Arvid was from the first contact very attentive and responded quickly all our questions and helped us with various transportation options to and from Athens
We had a great holiday in Villa Elia and as another guest said «You cant go wrong with this property and these people»
New build house with fantastic seaview.
Nice private pool, also with seaview. It is a clean and nice house, and the housekeeper, Ann, is really helpfull, doing all that she can to make you feel comfortable:-)
The kitchen is well equiped, with all that you need .....And a little more ;-)
The house is one of the best -actually THE best- houses we have visited on vacation.
Just one thing, there are some stairs that might be difficult to manage for small children. Everything else is PERFECT.
The surroundings are nice as well, lots of places to go if you have a car. If not, the Island Poros just on the other side, is worth a visit. There are a nice sandy beach just a 5 min walk from the house, and a little harbour for yachts with a nice restaurant at same distance.
We were 6 adults and 2 children, age 11 and 17, and we had a great time, and would love to come back.

With my wife and childeren and their (girl)friend we had a wonderful time at Villa Elia. The weather was really beautiful and we enjoyed the amazing view and the very nice swimmingpool. Early in the morning we had a great view if the sun was coming up from the seaside and after that we had our breakfast at the site pool. It was so nice that we nearly forgot to do some sightseeing. Weonly visited the Lidl, Poros and the very nice island of Hydra.
The villa was very modern and cool and with a lot of great windows to enjoy the wonderful sites. At night we enjoyed at the site of the swimming pool the BBQ with nice music around.
We spent a fabulous week in Inger and Arvids beautiful villa in September 2014.
The villa itself is amazing - tastefully decorated, fabulous verandas, fantastic outdoor pool, barbecue and eating/sitting area, the views from everywhere are absolutely breathtaking, it's very well equipped - We couldn't fault it in any way
The location is great - about 2.5 hours to Athens airport, the town of Galatas has a nice buzz with lots of places to eat etc, Poros is beautiful and very accessible with boats every 10 mins, there's a nice little beach about 15 mins walk away, the theatre at Epidavros is about 45 mins by car, and there are lots of great beaches and other activities within easy reach.
Ann (the lady who looks after the property) could not be more welcoming and accommodating - she really is lovely. Nothing is too much trouble and she's always available should you need anything. We also utilised her significant cooking skills - she will happily cook you some fantastic traditional food for barely any more than the cost of the ingredients.
Finally, Inger was impeccable during the booking process. Everything was fully explained and she was very quick to get back to any queries etc. Again nothing was too much trouble - she even bought an additional infant cot for us to save us bringing our own.
You cant go wrong with this property and these people.
Family Livesley & Crann
Within walking distance, approx 400 and 700 meters from the property you find sandy beaches. Two small tavernas (restaurants) are located on the beach, and during the summer period they offer sunbeds for rent, and food and drinks are available. Near to the property is Lemonodasos (the Lemon Forest) which is a nice area for walking. Galatas town is a 1.5 km walk or drive from the property and here you find local shops, tavernas, bakery, grocery and a car-rent, among others. Galatas is located on the mainland of Peloponnese and is only separated from Poros by a 200 meter wide canal. Poros is considered to be a traditional and a very lively town in the Saronic bay. It is the most common and frequent stop-over for yacht sailors to and from the Cyclades. Here you find hotels, restaurants, tavernas, cafes and bars. On the mainland Galatas the life is more relaxed than in Poros but it is only a 2 minutes trip with the local taxi-boat at a rate of 1 Euro which separates the two locations. The taxi boats travel frequently every 10 minutes.
In Poros there are water sports facilities and several tour operators who offer day trips at sea for snorkelling, swimming and exploring nearby islands. The ferryboats from Piraeus and islands close by approach Poros frequently every day.
The Saronic gulf with the coast line of Peloponnese has a number of attractions; - In Poros you find nice beaches, a museum and the temple of Poseidon; and on the road towards Chorint, the ancient theater of Epidaurus 45 minutes away from Galatas by car. The Methana Volcano is located approx 20 km away, and in that area there are several nice villages to visit. The magnificent island of Hydra is famous for its tranquillity and well preserved history and can be reached with the hydrofoil from Poros or by car connecting with the ferryboat from Metoxi. These are just few examples of the places in the area worth visiting.
For winter tourism the area of Peloponnese is great for mountain walking. If you are interested in horses, a special recommendation is the horse trekking in the mountains overlooking Galatas and Poros. The Haflingers are gorgeous and are very well behaved.
