3 bedroom/3 bathroom beach house with dream decks and veranda with stunning view

The Beach House (Cosmos Beach) is situated on the less populated wilder side of Corfu at Agios Georgios beach (St. George North) with stunning views of the bay, seconds from swimming in the crystal clear Ionian Sea and backed by hills of broom and myrtle. The house sleeps 6 with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, and is an idyllic place for a relaxing holiday for all the family. With spacious and open plan rooms, generous windows and stone floor, the house is a cool haven in the heat of the summer. Although quiet and peaceful there are boating activities and amenities within a few minutes’ walk, so a car is not essential for those who want the pure beach experience. During summertime you can rent a boat and explore the bay’s headlands of towering cliffs which hide sandy coves and rocky reefs.

Bedrooms:

2 double bedrooms (queen size matrimonial beds with coco-mat matresses) with wooden floor upstairs featuring a balcony with a shaded pergola overlooking the sea and offering stunning views of the bay, each with own bathroom. Pieces of antique furniture blend with minimal modern furniture and offer a relaxing decoration. A twin bedroom downstairs with stone floor and own bathroom.

Bathrooms:

2 bathrooms upstairs, 1 en suite with bath tub and shower, 1 with shower only. Downstairs bathroom en suite with bath tub and shower.

Kitchen:

Very large open plan fully equipped kitchen. Washing machine, fridge/freezer, dish washer, stove, electric kettle, toaster, boiler and iron, kitchenware and anything one may need in order to prepare meals and enjoy the flavors of the local products!The dining area offers direct view to the sea and the bay while seated. Ideal for a morning coffe and a daily follow up on your mailbox!

Living Room:

Very spacious open plan sitting room/dining area opening through 3 French doors onto wide veranda with panoramic view of Agios Georgios Bay and the sea. African flavors with Ethiopian handcrafted furniture, Kenyan Kikoi bench sofas and artifacts. Adobe fireplace; stone-paved floor throughout and ceiling fan at the sitting room.

Cleaning/Towels/Linen/Maid service:

Maid service and linen laundry provided twice a week on Tuesdays & Saturdays (additional days on request).

About George Sotiropoulos

I live in Kenya, I'm half Greek and I built this house in 2008 on land that I inherited. I have known the Agios Georgios beach since I played there as a child; it is beautiful and very close to my heart. I tried to build a house that feels peaceful, spacious and soaks in the spectacular views of the bay, and I love being there with my family.

Lying tucked away several miles down a twisty road and 30 km from Corfu town, this little resort can be found under several names including Agios Georgios (North), Agios Georgios Pagi, or San George, and is a haven for lovers of a quiet restful holiday. So far the demands of the tourist trade have not spoiled the natural beauty of this delightful bay nor the friendliness of the local people. It should be noted that there is another Corfu holiday resort of the same name in the south of the island.

Set on level land at the mouth of a wide valley between high rocky headlands, this collection of private houses, small hotels, tavernas and some apartments sprawls lazily behind the beach road. You will not find any tall apartment blocks or large self-catering complexes here, just small family run enterprises.

Behind them is countryside of fields, olive groves and wooded hills. The ancient olive trees with their contorted and perforated trunks form a greyish green carpet when viewed from a distance, but the views are made so much more interesting by the dark green colors of the numerous tall, pencil shaped cypress trees.

Certainly not known for vigorous nightlife, Agios Georgios suits families with young children, or couples and individuals of all ages who enjoy restful holidays in beautiful countryside, while at the same time providing endless fun for the kids on the beach.

However for stressed out 'workaholics' this is the ideal place as you have no choice but to slow down. Everything goes slow here. For a more lively night life it is easy to take a taxi or car the 12 kms or so, to Sidari.

At the superb beach with its crystal clear water you can just relax and enjoy the sun under a beach umbrella, hire a boat or enjoy a variety of water sports.

There is an ample choice of friendly Tavernas, Restaurants, small mini-markets and a few tourists' Gift Shops plus the occasional small quality shops. All are run by friendly local people.

You can hire a Motor Bike or Scooter for the day, or a Mountain Bike (it is hilly or try the water sports available on the beach. Many visitors enjoy walking in this delightful undulating countryside with its shady olive groves and wild flower bordered rural roads.

Our favourite 'not to be missed' short car trips are to:

• Afionas: This delightful village must not be missed if possible. There are several tavernas with stunning views. Take your pick of an eagle's eye view of Agios Georgios bay with drinks at Dionysos taverna and/or Porto Timoni Cafe; or in the opposite direction the truly beautiful view over the off-shore islands, especially the evening sunsets from The Three Brothers, Panorama or Anemos.

• Pagi village for coffee or drinks at a local greek cafe-bar, and on up through Prinillas via the twisting hill road with its magnificent views to the small village of Makrades, now well known for its souvenir shops and the local residents who leap out into the road waving cars to stop to buy their goods. (If you do stop they will have your door open before you know !)

For a longer trip carry on through Makrades down through Lakones with more superb views over the rocky bays of the famous resort of Paleokastritsa.

Gorgeous, spacious villa with lovely views.

Everything about this villa was lovely: room size, comfort, spaciousness, equipment in the kitchen, lovely garden. It's a bit more built up than the picture shows, but this is not a problem because the house is still very private and a minute's walk from the beach. The house is five minutes walk from a little supermarket, several simple and very satisfactory restaurants and a bus stop that you can use to get to Corfu town (in just over an hour). Really good value. One thing: we ended up not having a car and didn't need it. I would hesitate to drive there for the first time at night. The road is quite challenging. We were glad to use a taxi and the bus.

Tolle Lage am Strand

Schönes Haus direkt am langen feinsandigen Strand der Bucht gelegen. Fantastischer Blick auf Bucht und Meer. Eine schmale Straße führt zwischen Strand und Haus hindurch, der wenige Verkehr stört aber nicht.

Sehr freundliche Betreuer vor Ort. Das Haus ist sehr gut geeignet für 2 bis 6 Personen. Es ist insgesamt gut ausgestattet. Schade, dass die Duschköpfe verkalkt waren und dass das heruntergekommene Besteck nicht zu allem anderen passt. Daher Bewertung 4,5.

Geweldig huis aan het strand in een heerlijke baai

Wij hebben hier in Aug 2017 met onze familie met 6 personen een week verbleven. Echt een geweldig huis op een mooie plek aan een heerlijke baai. Het huis ligt aan het strand: je loopt het pad van het huis af, steekt de weg over en je staat op het strand. Het water in de baai is top: het wordt redelijk snel diep, het water is kristalhelder, en je kan er heerlijk zwemmen (best fris, maar dat is prima als de buitenlucht zo warm is). Het strand is niet heel erg druk, en dat is opvallend want het is een schitterende baai. Je loopt vanaf het huis naar de supermarkt, naar de lokale tavernas of naar de surf en zeilschool (heel makkelijk om een surfplank of een zeilboot te huren, of te waterskien, etc). Het huis is heerlijk, het is schoon, goede wifi, prima bedden (er zijn wel muggen, maar prima horren om ze buiten te houden). Wij kregen niet genoeg van het uitzicht, zowel vanaf het balkon van de huiskamer als van het balkon vanaf de slaapkamers. De verhuurders waren ZEER klantvriendelijk en regelden alles en adequaat; ze stuurden ons een telefoon oplader na die we in het huis hadden laten liggen na vertrek! Wij waren zeer tevreden over dit huis en kunnen het van harte aanbevelen.

Wonderful off-season week

Great and warm welcome at our arrival by the greek administrator, even the fridge was already filled. There were fresh fruit, butter , jam, honey and bread and a lot of other things, the owner really thought about everything.

The house was very clean and very well equipped, it couldn't have been better.

The position of the house is wonderful and we passed most time on the fantastic terrace. Nevertheless a lot of the taverns were already closed, thanks of the advices given on our arrival we found other nice places nearby.

We can highly recommend this very comfortable beach house in front of a long and sandy beach. We rent a car but it is not necessary, because all facilities are very close to the place. Thank you for this late summer relaxing week.
