Features of Nice: The Promenade des Anglais is Nice's most famous landmark. This superb sea-front boulevard, always decked with flowers, follows the curve of the 'Baie des Anges' and was originally a path just two metres wide. It was an Englishman, the Reverend Lewis Way, who had it built at his own expense in 1820 and in its final form, it now has two lanes of traffic separated by flower-beds and palm-trees.
Nice is characterised by narrow winding alleys, labyrinths and secret little squares, monuments and facades brimful of history, traditional restaurants, cafe terraces. The markets throughout the year are spectacular as are the Christmas lights and the Festival in February.
Art lovers are spoilt for choice and every taste is catered for. The Asian Arts Museum offers classical works and contemporary creations and the Museum of Art and History houses collections of late Gothic 'Primitive' painters & armour from the 15th to the 18th centuries, while the Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art's collections trace the history of the European and American avant-garde since the early sixties. The Matisse Museum shows works from all periods of the artist's life, from the first paintings of 1890 to the famous gouache cutouts.
Nice is also a city of parks and gardens. The oldest, Le Jardin Albert 1er is an oasis of greenery stretching over 2 kilometres from the seafront towards the hills. Fountains mingle with the play of light in Place Masséna, the restful and flowery esplanade between the Old Town and the centre.

We are a British family living in Hertfordshire. We fell in love with all that Nice has to offer back in 2004 and we're lucky enough to buy this apartment. We love welcoming new and returning guests to Nice who always tell us of their plans to return. We hope our visitors love it as much as we do.
Louisa Whitworth purchased this apartment in 2004

'The apartment was just what we wanted, the shower is excellent ... the location was ideal'
Apartment itself is fine although the WiFi didn't work for the duration of our stay which was very frustrating as I specifically chose an apartment with WiFi. The main issue however is that my deposit has never been returned after a rediculously long time, despite me contacting Louisa about this several times. We left the apartment in perfect condition and there was certainly no reason for the deposit not to be returned.
We have had a lovely time here, apartment clean and tidy, meet and greet was fantastic. This apartment is right in the heart of everything, which is ideal with a young family. See you next year.
This is a very clean comfortable apartment, being well situated for the Promenade des Anglais and only about a 15min walk to the station or the old part of the city.
The only downside was the owner's slowness in paying in our deposit, in confirming our reseveration in writing and in returning our deposit. Ultimately all was sorted satisfactorily but it was an unneccessary irritant.
Stayed for five nights in October 2010 (2 adults one 12yr old ) and had a wonderful break
Apartment is in good location handy for supermarket, freshly baked baguettes and croissants in the morning from patisiere about 20 metres away.
Be prepared to walk we walked everywhere exploring the old town and port. Flat is only 2 mins from the frontand is a leisurelt stroll into the centre of town Selection of shops is fantastic
if you listen to Riveria radio it updates you with weather ,news and whats on along the coastal towns The radio in dining room was tuned to it
We also went to Cannes and Monaco and picked up train at main station which is only 15mins from flat. Do try and get yourr tickets from the machines otherwise you will join a long queue
acess to flat is quick after landing at airport we took a taxi (27 euros)and were there in 10 mins. Our efforts to return to airport on bus which apsses at bottom of Boulevard Ganbetta were thwarted by a nationa transport l strike and we had to source a taxi which was not easy that morning
Would ceratinly recommned this falt and hope to return sometime in the future Thanks Louisa
The apartment has a fantastic location, located very near to all amenities, beach, train station and the old town of Nice. We cooked nearly every evening and the kitchen was ideal and with the supermarket close it was easy.
We did not realise how hot Nice can get and with heat of 35 degrees minimum every day air conditioning would have been of benefit. The fans provided were just not enough to copy with this kind of heat. This would be my only negative comments as the rest of the apartment is lovely and this would not be a problem for everyone.
We stayed in the flat during May. The weather was wonderful - as expected - and the flat too was exactly as described.
We landed late on a Sunday evening at Nice airport, so we chose to get a taxi to the flat. This was quite expensive, but worth it for the first time. We were met literally as we got out of the taxi by Markus and his wife and immediately made to feel comfortable. The flat was very clean and the beds were made up ready.
The location of the flat is perfect for the beach - you can pop back and forth within minutes. It is an easy walk along the sea front to reach the Old Town for an evening meal; although there are several good places to eat very near the flat and these are a lot cheaper, if you are on a budget. We cooked in, one evening and the kitchen was equiped with all the necessary utensils etc required.
We would stay here again.
Nice has a great deal to offer in itself but it is also centrally placed for access to many other famous cities such as Monaco, Cannes, St Tropez, Marseille. As well as the beautiful inland villages of St Paul de Vence and Grasse amongst others. The port of Nice also offers excursions to Corsica and the Italian border is just along the coast.
The apartment itself is situated on Rue Fricero. Close to the famous Hotel Negresco and main street Rue de France (leading to the pedestrian area). It is one road back from the promenade, in a quiet road near local amenities.
Ski: The apartment is approx 1 hr 30mins drive from Isola 2000. The skiing here is great for all standards and ski hire etc is available.
