Villa Florisa overlooks the fishing port of Palamos, within walking distance of the beach. The villa has a large pool (5m x 10m; heating available) with sun-loungers, barbecue patio, gardens landscaped with trees and shrubs, off-street parking. On the main floor: 2 bedrooms (one with en-suite), a luxuriously large main bathroom, lounge and dining area, and kitchen; also a spacious beamed portico with sea views, and barbecue patio shaded by an overhead sail. Upstairs, classic Catalan stone tower and three bedrooms (one with private balcony overlooking the Mediterranean, and en suite bathroom), and a further bathroom. Downstairs, a further sleeping area, bathroom and large sitting/ games area. Walk to supermarkets and numerous local restaurants. Florisa is well situated for exploring Barcelona's Gaudi architecture, and Dali’s Figueres; also the French Languedoc-Roussillon wine region. Free wifi. More photos at www.villaflorisa.com
Local area information: Costa Brava beaches vary from long sandy bays to small sheltered coves, including some within walking distance of Villa Florisa. The fishing port of Palamos is a few minutes drive north, and is noted for its fish restaurants and tapas bars. Plaja d'Aro, a few minutes drive to the south, has numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Girona and Barcelona are within easy reach by car, bus or train. The towns of Palafrugell, Begur and Pals are just 10-15 kilometers or so; a little further is the ceramics/pottery center of La Bisbal. The Dali museum is in Figueres. The French border, with access to the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region, is just 90km north on the motorway – or along the scenic coast route via Portbou (take the N260 from Figueres), with its breathtaking views down to the Mediterranean.
Sport & leisure: Sporting activities are well catered for in the region. Tennis facilities open to the public are available locally. There are numerous local beaches with clear blue water. Other water activities including scuba diving and sailing are also available. There is a water park with water slides in Playa d’Aro. Bicycles can be rented locally. Costa Brava is noted for its excellent golf, with eight good 18-hole courses within 45 minutes drive.
Eating & drinking: There are many restaurants and bars in the local towns of Palamos (noted for its fish restaurants and tapas bars) and Playa d'Aro, both only minutes away. Other towns such as Palafrugell and San Feliu de guixols are within 10 km, with more restaurants in the towns and en route. Some local restaurants are within walking distance of Villa Florisa. Dining in, make use of the fully equipped kitchen or the outdoor barbecue; fresh meat, fish and vegetables are available from local markets and shops (including three supermarkets within walking distance).
The villa is conveniently located about 10 minutes walk to the beach and supermarkets and has some absolutely beautiful views across to Palamos harbour. The villa is well equipped and has ample bedrooms to easily sleep 10. The 3 bedrooms in the tower are the most spacious with good views. There is a downstairs storage area with bedroom and bathroom but its not yet habitable, but good to use via the garage when by the pool, to avoid the steps. The villa has air conditioning should you require it and the cost is deducted from the damage deposit, but is quite reasonable. The pool was great, large and heated so always a good temperature. It is quite deep with a ladder entry so better for those who are able to swim. It is at the front of the property, but raised up so you are not overlooked.
There isn't any real garden for playing games in, but there are numerous seating areas so you can enjoy the view. There are plenty of loungers but no other chairs around the pool should you not want to lie down. The outside furniture was functional but could be improved to bring it up to the standard of the rest of the villa.
The front portico offers fabulous views over to Palamos harbour and we enjoyed watching the cruise ships coming in and out. It gets the sun early in the day and then offers some much needed shade as the day goes on. There is also a seating area at the rear, covered by the sail, which is another pleasant spot. There is a good quality BBQ and ample gas. We stayed for 2 weeks and there was a change of towels and linen after a week, but no cleaning of the villa during that time.
Once you have worked out the shortest route to the beach, crossing the main road, then it is about 10 minutes walk to San Valentino. Downhill to the beach but steep uphill on the return. There is a nice flat 45 minute walk along the beach promenade to Palamos or a cliff walk the other way. The promenade has numerous restaurants and bars and the beach is sandy and clean with showers along the route. There is also a site which offers assistance for disabled visitors. You can hire boats, windsurfs etc... there is plenty to do.
The fish market at Palamos is well worth a visit, it opens usually about 5pm each day with fresh fish caught that day. The water park is 10 minutes down the road and whilst a bit pricey, it was not particularly crowded and very clean and you can take your own picnic.
Overall a nice villa, fantastic views and good location.
We went to the Villa for a family holiday, so we had age ranges of young kids, 20s, 40s, 50s and 70s and we all agreed, that the Villa was superb. Magnificent views, lovely pool (which we all enjoyed, especially the younger ones) and ample room for all of us. The local supermarket was a 10 minute work away, as was the beach (once you find the shortcut). Overall, pretty faultless really.
Villa Florisa is truly an amazing villa with a lot of space and spectacular views. The description and pictures of the villa are very accurate. We spent a week at the villa, but could have easily stayed much longer. We all loved it. Everything we needed was provided and the grocery stores are close by (walking distance). There are also several nice restaurants down by the beach. The owner was extremely helpful with everything and replied to all our questions very promptly. We can't wait to go back and can highly recommend it for everyone!
My husband, myself and a group of friends went down to Spain on motorbikes and stayed at villa florisa for a week at the end of August, we were delighted with the villa, it was spacious, well kept and everything the holiday details said to would be and more. Our group comprised of 4 couples and 1 single person, the villa gave us plenty of space for 9 people and the ability for us all to have a separate bathroom. The views over Palamos were stunning and the outside area in the front of the villa made an excellent evening sitting area. We would not hesitate to recommend this villa, we had a great holiday.
We spent a week here with six adults and four children, and found the house and surroundings to be very good. It is as nice as the photos suggest, well mantained and equipped. I recommend this property.
If you are looking for a luxury self-catering holiday with a group of family or friends, this would be ideal.
We were all very impressed with the clean, spacious layout of the double bedrooms two of which had ensuites; there are three more bathrooms, including a very large and luxurious main bathroom. There was lots of space for all eight of us.
The kitchen was well equipped, and the superbly designed BBQ area made it easy for us to enjoy alfresco dining during the sunny days. A shadesail provides welcome protection from the sun during the summer.
The front balcony was the obvious choice for evening dining, as the views looking down over the town of Palamos and the Mediterranean were beautiful, especially in the evening.
It was about a 40 minute walk down to the old town of Palamos, which was a pleasant walk along the sea front, but it was easy enough to get a taxi back after a good meal.
There was lots of space around the pool to sunbathe and relax whilst enjoying the view overlooking the town, sea and surrounding countryside.
We will definitely be back again!
The area is serviced by several airports (Girona airport 35km; Barcelona airport 110km; Perpignan airport 110km); there are numerous car rental companies at these airports. Airlines include the budget carriers Ryanair and Easyjet. There are good rail links (Girona station 30km) and road links (A7 E15 Barcelona-Girona motorway 35km).
Villa Florisa is located between the coast towns of Palamos and Playa d’Aro. It is well situated for exploring the surrounding cities, towns and Costa Brava countryside. Playa d’Aro with its numerous restaurants is 5km to the south, and the pretty towns of Palafrugell, Begur and Pals are 10-15km to the north; a little further is the ceramics/pottery center of La Bisbal.
Barcelona with its Gaudi architecture, and Dali’s Figueres, are within easy reach, and the French border is just 90km away by motorway, with access to the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region. Or take the scenic coast route via Portbou, with stunning views down to the Mediterranean.
