Maison Olivier is a lovely house nestled in a beautifully tranquil, pastoral landscape. The house and location provide you with all you need for your stay whether you want to recline in the shade of the pergola and read or explore the area. Relax and refresh in the large fenced pool, BBQ fresh foods found at the many local markets or visit one of the local medieval towns, Brantome and Bourdeilles, just a short drive away.
The green rolling hills with stunning views and villages characterize this magnificent part of France.
The house is a "healthy" walk to Montagrier, a quaint little town that sits on top of a sweeping hill. Here you will find breathtaking views of the Dronne valley and a fine little restaurant/bar for a delicious and very reasonably priced lunch.
Travel a little further to visit the many caves in the area, or Perigueux, an historic town with its magnificent 12th century basilica and large market.
The area is famous for its culinary treasures especially pate de fois gras and truffles. There are many excellent restaurants close by, the pretty Moulin du Pont a local favourite where you can dine outside overlooking the Dronne river.
If you want to be active there is cycling, swimming and canoing. Visit chateux and vast cathedrals or one of the many little churches that dot the countryside.
The house is well stocked with information on what to do and where to dine. All four bedrooms are on the first floor. Currently one has a double bed and the others two single beds in each. The beds in the pink room are more suitable for children. The spacious bathroom is on the ground floor and contains the washer and dryer. There is another half bathroom on the ground floor. A bright, good sized kitchen has everything you need with table and chairs for 6. The large living and dining room has high ceilings and tall windows offering beautiful views of the grounds and neighbouring fields. Antique dining table seats 8 and leads to a deck at the rear of the house where you can sit as the sun goes down and enjoy a glass of wine from one of the best wine regions in the world.
"When we arrived at Maison Olivier I thought I had died and gone to holiday heaven. The setting was simply idyllic. Whether it was the shuttered windows which could be thrown open to let in the surrounding French countryside, the pool or the amazing setting nestled in the semi rural valley. We dined at the cafés in nearby villages for lunch and went further afield through the rolling hills to find dinner delighted at the end of the day to return to our "own" villa. What a week. We will be back ." Maison Olivier Guest, June 2016
The week at Maison Olivier was so enjoyable. The house is so welcoming and comfortable. I just loved sitting in the garden with local produce and wine at the end of each day exploring the wonderful places the region has to offer. Such a beautiful part of France and the house complements the experience.
Hoping to return to again as it was such a great house for a holiday so calm and tranquil." Maison Olivier Guest, May 2017
