THE HOUSE OF ROSE

www. lease cottage-Etretat. com

Real character house built in 1886, the villa "Les Genêts" and its independent cottage "Le Gueuloir" were built on a plot of 3500 m2 facing the sea above the Notre Dame church.

Each room offers an exceptional view of a green setting dotted with other villas equally beautiful and typical of the alabaster coast.

A 5 minute walk from the city center and less than 10 minutes from the beach, the house allows easy access to the various tourist attractions of the village.

This unobstructed view gives a feeling of openness to the sea with in the distance the ocean bringing a real breath of oxygen and allowing a deep renewal.

Atypical, its position among the trees with an exceptional view of Etretat, the sea and cliffs gives it a quiet and relaxing environment, far from the tourist turmoil of the village.

Such a balcony on the village and the sea, its characteristics suggesting the relaxation and the ressourcement ...

Once a modest fishing village, Étretat has become a renowned seaside resort. It is located north of Le Havre in Normandy, on the Channel coast in the Pays de Caux. The extraordinary and monumental appearance of its almost immaculate white chalk cliffs and greyish pebble beaches have made it one of the world's leading tourist destinations. Painters such as Gustave Courbet, Eugène Boudin and Claude Monet have contributed much to its advertising, by immortalizing the specificity. Writers like Gustave Flaubert and Guy de Maupassant were faithful of the place while Maurice Leblanc, who lived there, contributed to the myth surrounding the site in an Arsène Lupine adventure entitled L'Aiguille hollow.

Fantastic view, wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with Daniel in June, 2016. He was very welcoming and helpful. The 'Jardin de Rose' is the lower part of a three-story house converted to three apartments. It is up on the hill overlooking Etretat and the views are amazing from every room.

The two bedrooms have excellent beds, but you pay a little extra for sheets and towels. The kitchen is well equipped. The bathroom is small and has a 'traditional' bath, meaning a cast iron tub with a hand held shower. The living room is very comfortable and Daniel has a million books. If my french was any good I could have read all summer long.

The village really is just a five minute walk downhill. Of course, that means a ten-minute walk uphill to get home, but the view is absolutely worth it. We spent a lot of time watching the light and weather change over the cliffs and the sea. You can easily see why artists have been visiting Etretat for years.

Our thanks to Daniel for providing such a wonderful place to spend a week.

Charmant !

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
