About Allen and Laura McNeill
Hey y’all! I’m Laura and that handsome gentleman is my husband, Allen. We are high school sweethearts and have been married since 2011. We have three amazing daughters, ages 3.5, 5, and 6. Allen works as a field service technician for the local phone company during the day and tends to the farm of the evenings and on the weekends. He’s an avid hunter and enjoys all things outdoors. I’m a dental hygienist for the best dental practice Ashe County has to offer. When I’m not cleaning teeth, washing dishes or folding laundry, I enjoy shopping for antiques, reading, and restoring vintage patio furniture.
Allen and Laura McNeill purchased this House in 1932
Why Allen and Laura McNeill chose Fleetwood
Our family was born and raised in the High Country, specifically Ashe and Watauga Counties. The farmhouse was built in 1932 and this property has been passed down through several generations. The mountains of North Carolina will always be our home. We are so grateful for a safe, family-oriented, and friendly hometown! There is no place we'd rather be!
What makes this House unique
Mostly private, country setting. Listen closely to hear the soothing sounds of the creek drifting by while relaxing on the hammock outdoors. Or, feel free to open the windows and listen to the sweet songs of the many whip-poor-wills. During the warmer months, you’ll most likely see hay cutting, raking and baling in full swing. Our free roaming chickens lay eggs daily and we will gladly leave some fresh farm eggs in the fridge for you to enjoy (just let us know if you'd like some!).

Private and serene
You feel like you have gone back in time 100 years at this home. Going to sleep to the sound of crickets, the stream and the cows was amazing. We could imagine the Sunday family gatherings under the 150 year old trees. Our only regret is that we were up and out for long days and wanted to spend more time in the hammock!!
I cannot say enough great things about Worth’s Place! Our family fell in love with it immediately. The farmhouse was lovely and the property around it was so peaceful & beautiful. It was exceptionally clean and well appointed. We are already talking about when we can plan to go back! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Sweet, peaceful, lovely inside and out
The stay was great. The house immaculate and cozy and decorated nicely. Everything’s comfy. The barn, silo, creek and cows are just an added bonus. Owners great. It’s a little hard to find after dark. :) overall a great experience!
Wonderful, simple experience
House was clean, warm and inviting. Landscape was beautiful and so relaxing. I hope to visit again! Laura and Allen are very attentive to every detail.
Gorgeous scenery, communicative hosts, lovely property
We recently stayed at Worth's Place (December 28-30) and our family of four absolutely loved it. The property is gorgeous - we saw deer several times, the stream out back was wonderful to listen to, and it was "away from it all" without being too far from a major road/city. The house was spotless yet very homey. Many touches throughout made us feel immediately at home as soon as we walked in the door, the kitchen had the essentials for cooking, and the tv having Netflix was a modern touch that helped keep the kids wrangled on a rainy day :) We sincerely hope to come back to this wonderful place, and would highly recommend it!
This farm house stole my ❤️
This place took my breath away when we pulled up. It’s absolutely gorgeous. The fall colors were full in effect on this gorgeous farm. Mountain View’s all around this charming farm house. The beds were super comfy. House was decorated beautifully. Very clean. Close to west Jefferson and we love to eat at the restaurants there. Cascade falls was a great hike. Even though no phone service, WiFi worked great. Make sure to download google offline maps for the area before visiting so that you can get where you are going. It really couldn’t have been more perfect for us. Can’t wait to come back. Will plan on staying longer next year.
