Located in the 'Estate' section of Pine Mountain Club, this special 'true log' home we call 'Log Haven,' is perfect for a romantic get-a-way or creative renewal retreat. It has been a wonderful get-away for writers who need inspiration in their work. This two story log cabin has three comfortable bedrooms with two full baths. It is very comfortable for 6 people but can accommodate up to 10 with additional fold out couch, futon and Areobed. Log Haven is tucked away in tall pines within walking distance to the village and clubhouse. Once you park your car you never have to drive anywhere during your stay.

Relax on the front porch and gaze at the breathtaking views of the mountains. The back porch has spectacular views of the lower lake, golf course and greenbelt which is a wildlife sanctuary. In the evenings, snuggle on the couch in front of the fireplace and hear music on a Bose surround sound stereo where you can plug in your iPod or smart phone and stream Pandora or play your music play list. Cook gourmet meals in a fully stocked kitchen. Take hikes to spiritually inspiring places we have listed in our caringly put together information book. Take a break from your computer, TV and cell phones. Take the time to listen to your inner knowing. Let the mountains heal you. Take a deep breath, gaze at the stars and feel rejuvenated!!

About Mary Ann & Joe

I am a portrait photographer with a home studio in Los Angeles. My husband works with me and is also a jazz singer in a legendary big band group, The Modernaires. A few times a year he plays and sings at the Pine Mountain Clubhouse.

I have facilitated women's retreats and photographic workshops in our log home for 14 years. Pine Mountain is a perfect retreat spot for those who want to get away and recreate and refresh their creativity.

I love to hike and Joe loves golf. Of course, I call golf 'a good hike gone bad.' He loves it and I am happy for that.

Mary Ann & Joe purchased this cabin in 1996

Why Mary Ann & Joe chose Pine Mountain Club

After creating my first photography book, I was pretty burned out. It took five years in the making. So we went to visit friends in Pine Mountain. After the third visit they said, 'So when are you buying a place here?' We looked at each other and thought, 'Why not?' That was almost 18 years ago. We spend as many weekends as we can in Pine Mountain in our beloved Log Haven. This home is so special to us. When I first walked in the door I vowed that it would be a healing retreat for all who entered.

Indeed, it is!

What makes this cabin unique

This is a non-smoking home, inside and out!

Log Haven is our home. We have put love, creativity and joy into this cabin. Because it is made from logs, it feels like a living breathing being. I always feel like it wraps it's arms around me when I am there. In the summer, I sit on my front porch and sip my tea in the morning and gaze at the meadow in front of us and the beauty of the mountains. It's like a wild kingdom in front of our cabin as we see rabbits scampering, squirrels chasing each other up and down the trees and quail herds racing by with their little ones tagging behind. And we do have bears! A couple of months ago I look out my living room window to see a teenage bear on it's hind legs sniffing our BBQ! They are very submissive, so I just yelled at him and stomped my feet for him to go away. So remember, don't leave any food outside or anything that would smell in your car! We have a beautiful hawk that frequents our area and a scrub jay we call Scruffy that lands on our knee and takes peanuts from us. Yes, there is such peace and relaxation. It holds me all week until I return.

At night we bring our Apple TV and stream Netflix or Hulu (of course it's the mountains and sometimes you get buffering) or watch a DVD or video out of our library. Having surround sound makes it like we are in a movie theater. In the winter, we have a roaring fire going. We have fire wood provided for all our visitors.

I have to admit, I love my recliner in the corner of the living room that was my Mother's. I have a reading lamp above it and have the luxury to read in peace for hours while Joe plays the piano.

Since we are only a block and a half from the village and the clubhouse and golf course, we never have to drive. We can walk to the village or clubhouse for breakfast. Our favorite splurge is walking up to the bakery owned by John and Sy. They make the best pastries and Latte's.

Can ya tell I love it here?

We wouldn't stay here again, we liked the place but it's not good with children at all, there are lots of small pices of things and things to be fall easily, lots of books and magazine and cds and very small brokeable decoration, I think it's done by purpose that they can keep your deposits , it's not seems like that at the beginning owner looks friendly and nice but we paid extra money for not doing things on purpose and just an accident , which was not our fault . The master bedroom was smelling the fire place smoke the whole time .

Owner's Response: We have shared our cabin, our home, with many many families with children who give us glowing reviews. We create our cabin as a homey and warm atmosphere (not a sterile empty house like most rentals) and leave a few decor (not much breakables), books on the shelves and a large collection of DVD movies for our guests to enjoy. We have only a few very strict house rules: 1) No smoking in or around the cabin as it is a fire hazard and most people are highly offended by the smell of cigarette smoke. 2) Do not leave food outside as we have bears and other animals that would bring them down to our area. It is a federal offense to leave food out for bears. Both these rules were broken. The cabin smelled like cigarette smoke when we arrived and cigarette butts were thrown out into the back yard (which we took pictures of). There was food thrown off the back porch which we had to clean up. We did not keep the $500 deposit but a small portion to pay a cleaning crew for extra cleaning, washing of curtains etc. We do our best to be accommodating to our guests. This is our home of 20 years and all we request is respect and observing some simple and practical rules.

Amazing LOCATION! We loved being able to easily walk to the village and clubhouse even on cold evenings. The space was beautiful (better than the pictures even!) and very comfortable. Thank you!

Trip to remember!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful Log Cabin. The house was so cozy and spacious. It was absolutely perfect for 5 adults and three kiddos. Although, it could easily accommodate more. We loved cooking and eating in the kitchen that had absolutely everything. It has this perfect "cabin in the woods" feel with all the comforts the family needs. We were blessed with the snowfall on the New Year night and enjoyed perfect snow day without getting in the car. Kids spent 5 hours outside sledding, building snowman, playing snowballs just steps away from the house. We didnt have to deal with mountain driving or the city crowds. I cant imagine a better place for a nature getaway. And you will be so pleasantly surprised by these personal touches that you will find all around. Our girls were giggling all day, when they saw that mom and dad chose "Romantic Room" to stay in, and the sign above the bed had a word "kiss" in it. :)Thank you Mary Ann and Joe, we cant wait to come back. Happy New Year!

Fun for Family of Four

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved driving up to the real log cabin, although it is truly a house. Everything was very clean and the owners were very nice and concerned that we enjoy our stay. We consist of a family of birdwatchers who found the raptor bird watching nearby one of the best ever. The kitchen was well equipped and we used it! It was a chilly while we were there so we only took advantage of the lovely porch for our Christmas picture. We all four read by the fireplace, one son played piano, my husband brought his guitar, and I drank the moonshine I had brought as gifts to our sons. They weren’t fast enough. The amazing little store within walking distance was well stocked. We could shop for anything we might need to prepare a lovely meal the same night. All in all, a wonderful getaway!

Well kept log cabin

  • 5 of 5

The property and host were very nice and there was plenty of room for my party of six. The pictures were representative of the cabin and it was very close (walking distance) to town, which was perfect.

All the folks in my party, including me, were very pleased with the accommodations!

Everything we could need was available to us and was spacious enough to allow all 9 of our group to stay comfortably. Hassle free and enjoyable experience.
