Immaculate, charming apartment with a brilliant location for the slopes and the village

We spent a really lovely week in Avoriaz in Emanuelle and Edouard's apartment. Emanuelle made sure that we felt very welcome, including meeting us at the bottom of the Prodains cable car to make our journey up the mountain as painless as possible (and free, as we didn't have to buy a pedestrian pass for that day due to her help).

When we got to the apartment it had the afternoon sun streaming through the window which made it warm and cosy. The whole apartment is decorated in a lovely fashion, keeping some original 70s features and character, but with modern accessories, furniture and kitchen. The kitchen was particularly good - one of the best that I've come across in a self catering apartment, with a 4 ring ceramic hob, a proper full size, oven, a large microwave, and a selection of hot drinks machines, as well as a generous amount of complimentary nespresso and tea pods.

You can really tell that this isn't just a Pierre et Vacances style apartment - (with a bare minimum of equipment that doesn't really know how people live) - it is a family apartment that is well loved and well used by the owners - so you get the little extras that are sometimes missing e.g. a full supply of maps for the local area, a set of board games, cooking supplies that are otherwise annoying to buy such as salt and pepper, spices and cooking oil. They also had a good selection of pots, pans, even a raclette machine (which was much enjoyed)

In terms of location, I think the apartment is also brilliant:

The balcony looked out over the slopes at the bottom end of Avoriaz - with a clear view of the lifts, so you could see as soon as they opened. (A hint if you want to avoid queues - either get to "Tours" early on, or take "Stade" rather than "Lac Intrets" as it is faster and less busy and you can head quickly over to Choucas before the crowds get there.) You can access the slopes instantly from the apartment, and from the exit at the bottom of the block you can get to 4 different lifts taking you to different parts of the resort. There is also a pedestrian lift 50 yards away from the main entrance in "Hauts Forts" that gets you very close to the centre of the village if you need to take young children to ski school in the morning.

Skiing back to the apartment is also easy as you can approach from 2 different directions which covers most of the options.

We loved it here and hope to return next year.

Affordable Luxury - Why Stay Anywhere Else?

We stayed here in March 2015 and have been meaning to write a review of our stay ever since to explain just how happy we were with the accommodation.

Before the trip we had great communication with the apartment owners who were very helpful and kept us well informed. They were also especially flexible considering our arrival time into Avoriaz was going to be quite late in the evening.

Arriving in the apartment we were greeted with an immaculately-clean living space equipped with all necessary facilities, the place was quite spacious as well. There were even a few welcome gifts laid out for us including some wine and chocolates which we thought was a particularly nice touch. The location of this apartment couldn’t be better in terms of accessing two of the main ski lifts located in Avoriaz and we were even able to ski / snowboard from the front door of the apartment building directly onto the chair lifts.

This apartment offered luxury at an affordable price and it was a nice place to relax after a hard day’s boarding on the mountain. Several bars and all local amenities were only a short distance away so we had everything at our fingertips.

We’re off to Val Thorens for a change this year but when we return to Avoriaz in the future we’d hope to stay here again.

Lovely clean & spacious apartment - great location

We had a fantastic half term week - family of 5 with 2 teenagers and a 12 year old and a friend with her 12 year old. Ski in/out - Easy access to slopes and ski lessons from locker floor - easy walk into centre for bars and shops. Apartment felt spacious, immaculate and well organised/presented and we had everything we needed - the owner and family were very friendly and helpful - even the double sofa bed in the lounge was the most comfortable sofa bed we have ever slept in! Would highly recommend this accommodation!!!!!
