Overview

About the property

Two Bedroom Country Cottage In A Conservation Area with country views.

Bellfield cottage is in a beautiful peaceful country location just a few minutes drive from Banbury and the M40 motorway. With miles of country walks from the front door, an award winning pub serving excellent food at less than a hundred yards, and within close driving distance to major attractions, this is the ideal self catering accommodation for a short break or as a base for an extended exploration of the surrounding area.

Bellfield cottage was extensively refurbished in 2013 and now offers comfortable accommodation with one double and one twin bedroom, two bathrooms upstairs and a cloakroom downstairs, a cosy lounge, a well equipped kitchen dining room, and a cottage garden with patio areas and a summerhouse fitted out as an artist's studio. For winter evenings the cottage is kept cosy with the log effect fire in the lounge and under floor heating to the dining room and bathrooms.

There is parking outside and free wifi is available throughout the cottage.

Bellfield is actually a three bedroom cottage with one bedroom reserved as a storeroom meaning that the downstairs accommodation is larger than usual for a two bedroom cottage.

About Richard and Wendy Brittaine

The owners are Richard and Wendy who bought Bellfield Cottage in 2013 after their return from working in the hospitality industry in the Maldives. Their aim has been to upgrade the cottage to be available for their occasional use when they are not travelling. As such it has been equipped as a real home, not just a holiday home.

Richard and Wendy Brittaine purchased this cottage in 2013

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Thank you. We had a lovely weekend break. Beautiful cottage. Had a good walk over the fields to Wardington. Dined in the George and Dragon every night! Very convenient for M40 yet totally away from it all. Will definitely come again!" ....The Scrimshaws, Croydon.

Peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights and had a really nice time. The cottage is so cute with everything you could need, and the garden was a riot of colour - poppies, aquilegia, iris, roses. The beds were comfortable, with plenty of storage space in the bedrooms, the bathrooms were clean and functional and the kitchen had plenty of equipment.

The pub was a 2 minute walk and was OK. Very standard pub fare. Try further afield if you're a bit of a foodie like us. The Kitchen at Farnborough was lovely.

Cosy, comfortable and convenient cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We had a most enjoyable stay in this delightful cottage with a pretty garden.. It was comfortable, cosy and well equipped. Very convenient with something of interest a short drive in any direction. The surrounding peaceful village provides an attractive backdrop and a nearby typical 'local' with good pub food.

We were staying in the village to attend a family event. We found the cottage warm and welcoming after a very long journey.

Winter Warmer!

  • 5 of 5

Diseptively spacious cottage, furnished to a very high standard and my wife, my son and I thoroughly enjoyed its charm and character throughout our short week. During a period of weather that served up the coldest temperatures for four years, we benefited from the cottage's efficient heating system, relaxing ambience and quiet location. As a bonus, we also enjoyed the hospitality of the George and Dragon, a traditional village pub within very easy walking distance, that serves traditional cask ales and serves up reasonably priced, well presented food, piping hot and on hot plates.

No complaints about the cottage here and an easy top marks from us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We recently upgraded the boiler which certainly helps keep the house warm. And the underfloor heating does a good job too! So glad you enjoyed your stay. Richard and Wendy.

Bellfield Cottage is ideally situated on the edge of the Cotswolds and midway between Oxford and Stratford upon Avon. Warwick Castle, Silverstone, Bicester Village, Bletchley Park, Stow on the Wold are just some of the interesting and historic nearby attractions. Chacombe itself is an attractive historic village with many thatched ironstone walled cottages lining narrow streets. The Jurassic Way is an 88 mile walk through the Northamptonshire countryside which passes the front door of Bellfield Cottage.
