Lovely apartment but with issues
- Loved the panoramic views, terrace, light, airiness, and space in the apartment.
- Things felt slightly unclean under the surface (crockery etc) and bedding was all creased, though seemed clean.
- Hard to cool apartment in hot weather, even trying to manage with shutters and air flow. Felt like a constant battle. Only one fan.
- Quiet and peaceful location, about 10 minutes walk to well connected tram stop.
- Lots of toys for children.
- Kettle not working and many switches/lights didn’t work (electrics or bulb?)
- Swimming pool fees costly for two adults and a child, but we had not been told that the pool was closed every mornings by until midday when we paid for this - worth noting if you plan to use at the start rather than end of your day. Pool not particularly clean, but perfect temperature and grassy areas around it.
- Told on arrival on Saturday that there had not been hot water for two days, though they had got a plumber booked in for the Monday morning (still requested cash up front for cleaner though!). Told that as it was a heatwave most people had cool showers or could use someone else’s house(!). In the event it took 3 full days to get hot water working, for which we’d had to support by staying in twice for plumber/electrician (having to give them a key for a third visit on instruction from owner) and spending an hour or two overall communication with them about how to help fix it. With children aged 7 and 4 who would not tolerate cold showers/baths, we had to do three evening’s of boiling several saucepans of water to make a small, tepid bath (they needed a bath in a heatwave!) - hot water in an over hot apartment! Everyone was friendly and understanding, but when I asked the owner to consider a reduction in cost (which was no cheaper than a mid range to good hotel) due to the significant disruption to the holiday, none was offered and indeed it was then explained how a rebate would hit him hard financially. We felt this was unnecessary and not respectful of his position of owner and ours as guests. I have still not had a response two weeks later, and a week after raising this with Home Away.
- So, potentially a wonderful apartment, but several issues!
