High Brow is located on a dead end road, a mile from the village of Dockray, making it ideal for those who want to get away from it all.

Despite its fairly secluded location, it's within a short drive from civilisation and with it comes an abundance of things to do. In Dockray there is a wonderful pub, 'The Royal Hotel', which welcomes non-residents for food and a pint of real, local ale. The quiet roads in the area are popular with cyclists and offer fantastic views of the surrounding fells and the majestic Ullswater lake. An enjoyable free wheel down the hill brings you to the beautiful lake's shore. Various water activities are available to you around the lake, including the popular 'Ullswater Steamers'; a ferry service that takes you to different points along its shoreline. This makes it easy to do some fantastic linear walks, taking in the highlights of the wonderful valley.

The area is also popular with walkers, the main draw being the mighty mountain 'Helvellyn. The fell, famed for its exhillerating ridge 'Striding Edge', draws people in all year round. It is especially popular with winter mountaineers, the ridges and gullies an extreme challenge in the colder temperatures.

For a less adventurous day out, 'Aira Force' is an impressive waterfall over 70ft tall and presents some fabulous opportunities for photography. The waterfall can be reached on foot from Dockray or is only a short drive away.
