‘Ghyll Foot’ is self-contained on the ground floor of a traditional Lakeland house. It sleeps up to 4 people and 2 well behaved dogs, making it perfect for families or a small group of friends. Due to the fact it is all on the ground floor, it is also suitable for those with low mobility. There is also the added bonus of a beautiful enclosed garden, ideal for those who just want to sit and enjoy the beautiful English countryside.

The front door opens out onto the comfortable lounge area, with flat screen TV. There is also a dining table, perfect for those home cooked meals together. The kitchen is cosy and small, but has everything you need to self cater. The property also has Wifi available, keeping you in touch with the outside world.

The double, master bedroom is light and airy, with stunning views and en-suite shower room. The twin room has a door leading out to the garden, perfect for those who need a bit of fresh air in the morning. The family bathroom finishes of the property, including bath with shower tap.

There is off road parking, which can fit up to 3 cars. The garden has a spacious lawned area, for playing out. A sheltered terrace has seating for those summer evenings, with a glass of wine, or frosty nights, gazing at the stars.

'Ghyll Foot' is situated just outside the village of Patterdale, a 15-minute walk from the shores of the stunning Ullswater Lake.

Ullswater is regarded by many as the most beautiful lake in the district. The second biggest, it offers a variety of watersports and is overlooked by some of the most impressive fells in Cumbria. One such fell is 'Hellvellyn', famed for it's exhilarating ridge 'Striding Edge', it is popular with walkers and climbers in all seasons. For a less arduous excursion, take a trip on one of the 'Ullswater Steamers' to the other side of the lake and make your way back along the shore; enjoying the stunning views of the area as you go. These are to name but a few walks that are all reachable from 'Ghyll Foot'.

'The White Lion' in Patterdale is the nearest pub, a 10-minute walk away. It offers real ale and home cooked meals, perfect after a hard day's walk. There are more pubs to choose from along the valley, if you wanted to travel further afield.

An exciting journey over the 'Kirkstone Pass' gives you spectacular views, as you make your way to Windermere and Ambleside. The southern Lake District towns have plenty of shops to spend your pocket money in and a host of restaurants to entertain yourselves in the evening. The same could be said for Keswick, the northern town, which is only a 20-minute drive away, from 'Ghyll Foot'.

Ullswater and the surrounding area have lots to offer, no matter what you are looking for in a Lakeland break.

Pet Fee £15

We accept full week bookings (Friday to Friday) all year round. Short breaks are available from November - March. Custom dates can be negotiated.

We ask for a deposit of a third of the total rental upon booking. The remaining balance is due six weeks before arrival. We can accept payment by credit, debit card, cheque or BACS.

Manager's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
