Waterside apartment Literally Next to the Sea ‘Pieds dans l'eau’ and only 3 minutes to Monaco by train...station 5 minutes away on foot...the best of all worlds.

2016 is fast becoming our most successful year yet with returning guests booked from the USA, Switzerland, UK and Russia..all enjoying our home as much as we do.

This is our luxury home from home that sits right on the Mediterranean, CLICK LINK FOR BING MAP only a short glorious walk along the foreshore to Monaco, or a three minute train ride from arguably the train station with the most beautiful view in the world!

With multi million pound villas on either side of us, this is a very rare apartment on the top floor of the building, which gives spectacular sea views out of every window. see the link to Youtube video here ( ) There is nothing more relaxing than falling off to sleep with the sound of waves breaking with a light breeze coming in through the arched French windows.

Complete renovation

We have only just finished completely refurbishing this apartment to a very high standard, as it’s our intention to live in the apartment once we reach retirement in a year or two. We have tried to incorporate everything that we wish for ourselves- top of the range smart Sonos sound system with Amina invisible speakers throughout to keep the apartment clutter free, smart television with Wi-Fi, stone tiled luxury wet room, exquisite kitchen with high end appliances including a steam oven and combination oven, and Nespresso coffee machine. The balcony is a super place to watch the yachts and super yachts sail by, relaxing with a book and a glass of excellent Rose wine, either sitting at the wrought iron table or stretched out on the sun bed. The whole apartment is furnished with handmade bespoke furniture imported from England to fit the apartment. We have also installed double electric blinds inside and out for year round comfort. Everything that you would want in your own home from home!

Easy access

We chose this secluded apartment for ourselves because of its wonderful position, not only in relation to its breathtaking views, easy access to the sea, and sand at Plage Mala just around the corner where you can hire Jet Ski’s, kayaks or day boards etc, but also because of its ease of access to the whole of the Cote d'Azur, Nice, Monaco and the French Riviera. The train station is only a five minute walk away, also overlooking the Mediterranean, with frequent services to Monaco (3mins), Nice (18mins), Cannes (55mins) Ventimiglia, Italy (30mins). Both the train and bus rides are inexpensive and afford stunning views of both the sea and the Corniche.


The light in this part of the world has drawn so many artists over the years because of its amazing intense quality. You only have to mention Picasso, Matisse, Chagal amongst many others. Consequently there are many fine art galleries and museums displaying their work. The Villa Rothschild in Cap Ferrat is well worth a visit and is only 12 or so minutes away on the train. We enjoy walking in the Alpes Maritime in the spring and autumn; it’s a bit too hot in high season for us oldies!

World Class events

Another big attraction for us to this area is the number of world class events that take place throughout the year. There's the annual Monaco F1 Grand Prix, the biannual Historic Grand Prix that takes place two weeks before the main Grand Prix, the Monaco Tennis Tournament, International Boat Show, not to mention the Opera in both Nice and Monaco. Many world famous Rock and Pop stars give concerts here - no doubt because they too like to take time off and relax in this beautiful part of the world.

There's a little of everything here from the peace and serenity of the apartment to the bustle of the markets and night life in both Monaco and Nice and the small towns in between. It goes without saying that there is a lot of high class designer shopping in this region if you wish it!

A word of caution

A number of properties are listed on Home Away as being in Monaco when in fact they are not, Beausoleil, for instance is not close to the sea and is in France. I have noticed one listing where they have the moved the property on the map to the beach!

Parked outside Castel d'Aglio in our little recently restored 1958 MGA...which, albeit a little quirky, is an ideal car to enjoy the fabulous sea and mountain views.

We live 50/50 UK and France but at some point we plan to be here permanently in our little piece paradise.

Why Richard Reeves chose Cap-d'Ail

Fabulous views, next to the sea CLICK ON FOLLOWING LINKS;(Bing Map . youtube video ) convenience of the train station and super 3 minute access to Monaco by train, Nice, Beaulieu sur Mer, Cannes, Grasse, Villefranche, Italy. Only owning a yacht, or perhaps a helicopter...providing you can find somewhere to land, might be better.

What makes this apartment unique

Many years ago we bought a holiday home in the Canaries, which frankly we rarely used and found that we were bored after a few holidays. We then spent sometime with our sailing boat in Cornwall...however the time taken to sail our boat for short holidays was considerable....and the weather was nearly always awful.

But not wishing to give up on a holiday home abroad looked carefully at the map and decided that the Riviera was not far from many really beautiful European destinations. We took time out to explore the coastline from St Tropez to Menton. We had not seen a beach or town that we liked until we travelled East through Nice to Villefranche...and WOW we fell in love with Villefranche.....but the properties were not so great, in our price band and it was VERY busy with waves of tourists from the enormous cruise ships. We moved on to Beaulieu sur Mer and felt entirely at home...a beautiful small town with everything on our doorstep. Not wishing to make another mistake we bought a studio in 2000 to put a foot, tentatively, in the water. Just loved it and will never sell it. One of the really big deals that we discovered was having the train station only 5 mins, walking, from the studio. That gave us access to all the great places on the Riviera...and why is that important? Parking in the area can be tricky...access by rail is the key to the area....reasonably priced too! Only €2.00 to either Nice or Monaco!!!

Why waste your precious holiday time spending a stressful hour trying to find a space to park.

Why Castel d'Aglio Cap d'Ail

We wanted a larger place and spent a couple of years looking for something special and they all had issues..too high and cold in the spring or/and just average. Then we found a neglected property NEXT TO THE SEA at a ridiculously high price...Castel d'Aglio...near the station. We have since totally renovated it to a high standard and it's now ready to be enjoyed.

Amazing views, right above a beautiful coast line

Exceptional in every way

My husband & I stayed at this wonderful apartment at the end of May 2016. I'd booked it as a surprise for his birthday along with tickets for the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

We had a bit of a wait for the keys (which we did in the nearby bar) but otherwise the whole process was seamless.

The apartment itself is absolutely beautiful and finished to impeccable quality. The views speak for themselves. I was honestly truly sad to leave this place after 5 utterly fabulous days.

Nearby is a really nice bar and delicious restaurant which we visited a few times. Walking distance up on the top of the hill is a pizzeria serving the most divine pizzas and ice cream.

The station is literally 3 minutes walk and a very short journey of a few more minutes straight into Monaco. No fuss or stress at all.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone (that is worthy!).

Richard was great at communicating with details and tips etc and was most helpful throughout the process.

I need to go back very soon! Sorry my review took so long!!
