History: “On 29 Apr 1851 William West Jr. of Tisbury, mariner, bought a house on the south side of Center St. for $1100” from Local builder and real estate speculators John and Elizabeth Perry. William West was a successful Whaling Captain “having sailed on the ship Enterprise of New Bedford which left on 14 Jul 1828 and returned 19 Jun 1829, and on the ship Hope of New Bedford which left on 30 Jan 1830”. The house was great-comfortable, well-equipped, spacious and air-conditioned (we had a hot sunny week). We explored the beach at Lake Tashmoo-great if you can brave down that dirt road. We had too much Mad Martha’s and generally just had fun. We recommend the off-shore ale house in Oak Bluffs for a relaxing lunch; the Edgartown Inn for great pancakes, and the MV Bagel Authority in Vineyard Haven for- you guessed it- bagels. Don’t miss the experience of watching the sunset over the ocean in Menamsha. Pack some food or get a Lobster at the Menemsha Fish Market or the Homeport back door and sit on the beach at the end of the day-a perfect Vineyard memory! Thank you Adelmans!

Thanks for the use of your fabulous home. We had a great time and absolutely loved the house. The location is the best! We were here with our two small children and our parents and no one got under foot. There was always a quiet place to relax. The beds and furniture are comfortable and the kitchen is a delight to cook in. Hope we are here again next year!

This house was clean and cool (central a/c). We were 6 people and had plenty of space. The owner was so easy to deal with and gave us great ideas for our first Martha's Vineyard stay. Would definitely recommend this property. Great location...short walking distance to Main Street of Vineyard Haven. We would stay here again on our next MV visit!
Walk to restaurants, shops, Movie Theater, Ferry and Owen little park/beach and Town landing.
