ALOHA! Long to get away from the hustle and bustle? Are you ready to RELAX? Then welcome to Paradise! If you love Kauai like we do, you'll love staying in our beachfront condo in Kapaa. We're on the third (top) floor (with elevator) in a corner unit with unobstructed views north south and east. Gorgeous sunrises from our lanai (balcony) and views of the beautiful mile-long sandy beach, with its walking, jogging, bicycle trail.

The Pono Kai Resort is located right in the quaint town of Kapaa. You are walking distance from many stores and restaurants, yet are shielded from road and traffic noise by fifteen acres and several other buildings in the complex. All you'll hear in our condo are the mesmerizing sounds of the ocean and the trade winds breezing through the palm trees.

Quiet, quiet, quiet. The sound of the surf and the trade winds rustling through the palm trees instantly soothes jangled nerves, and puts us in a state of wonderful relaxation.

Home away from Home with extra sun

We stayed at Pono kai D308 for 10 days and had a marvellous time.

Firstly a thanks to Gary & Barbara for allowing us to stay there, and for there excellent help with info about the condo and area.

The Condo was very homely, it was extremely comfortable, clean and well stocked, making our stay very pleasant.

The condo is set in an excellent position for watching the day and its people go by on the walkway, watching the sunrise and mild surf, and excellent location for travelling anywhere during the day as to being located midway on the island.

The local area has all the needed amenities from shopping, meals, fuel, groceries etc all within a few minutes.

Amongst a lot of things we did, we attended the welcome breakfast and won a 2 for 1 deal on the Koloa Zipline, great fun!! Also we flew in the Yellow Bi-Plane with Kevin the pilot around the island, Fantastic views and very helpful info and great staff Thank you Val.

We thoroughly recommend both Pono-Kai D308 and Kauai the Beautiful island.

Beautiful balcony views. No need for a.c. there was a constant cooling breeze day and night. My mom and I went for girl time and my birthday. Loved it and will return again.

Fantastic condo!

This condo was the best equipped I have ever stayed in. From beach chairs to Tupperware and the Ninja blender-this place has everything you need! Lovely view from the lanai of this corner unit. The resort was great for all ages. We enjoyed the pool as well as shuffleboard and croquet. Staff at the front desk were very helpful with everything even though this was a private rental. Resort has a hospitality room with a shower and storage area which came in handy after check out time.

Look forward to returning to unit D308 at the Pono zzz Kai in the years to come.

Marvelous Escape

This was our third time staying in the wonderful, corner, top floor condo. The location is perfect for us as the walking, biking trail is right out front, and the town of Kapaa just a short walk away. The condo has everything you need and the owners are so helpful in giving recommendations and advice. Gary always calls the first night just to make sure all is well. We have stayed in other condos at the Pono Kai, but this is by far our favorite. You can't go wrong should you decide to stay in Kapaa. Aloha.

Great Location

Ideal location in Kapaa. Unit was clean, well equipped and had a nice view of ocean. The elevator was very useful for taking luggage to and from unit and when using the laundry facilities on the ground level. The shops, restaurants, and coffee shops were within easy walking distance. A long shoreline walking/biking trail is just out the door.

Ideal location

Diane and I enjoyed being return guests in D308. It is a great combination of location and price. I especially like having only a short walk to Kapaa. Breakfast at Ono Ono and maybe a shave ice later. Other good restaurants are close. I find that if you have a "Hawaii Revealed" book it is best to have a recent one because restaurants come and go. Site seeing remains the same and we hit them all both North and South.

As a frustrated Ukulele player, the Komora uke store is close and on Tuesday mornings I spent an hour at the Kapaa rec center (within walking distance) in a uke class with Ernie. Great fun. Being Lutheran we enjoy going to Lihue Lutheran (only Luth. church on the island). Both Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday as well as aThursday morning making PB and J sandwiches (400) for the Boys and Girls clubs.

The unit has everything needed for a nice stay. Good CD player so I went across the street to the Thrift store for some additions (cheap). We also sampled the TV with the old movie selections. The instructions on usage in the owner manual helped. Might remind tenants that the CD player holds five. The upgraded kitchen adds a lot.

Pono Kai itself is very inviting. Besides the pool and exercise room, the Herb garden (with samples) and the miniature golf course at ocean side were nice touches. Make sure you go to the welcome breakfast. We did and won a half priced airplane flight over the island. A painless way to see Na Pali. We also used the seaside path for our morning walk.
