Staying at Nous Cinq is not relaxing, but exhausting. And it's not near anything! If you don't speak French DO NOT COME Here. Nous Cinq is run by one person, who never leaves, so one's privacy and ability to relax is limited. In fact, one feels like it's their home, not one in which you are welcome. The main building which has sofas, and where one eats at a communal table is also used to entertain friends of the management, in other words, guests who aren't paying to stay there, like we were. The main building is also locked at 10PM. So guests are not felt welcome to sit in there on the sofas. I once asked to have the ceiling fans, which are beautiful and new turned on. I was ignored. The stated wifI that is supposed to be available is only on sporadically, and one must repeatedly ask for it to be turned on.The photos here aren’t accurate. Yes they show the architecture which is fabulous. But the terraces set up with tables, the pool lounges-- forget it. All are stacked up inside and if you take one to use, you better put it back! You will be told (In French...) to put it back. The site says there washers, dryers, and shows a beautiful kitchen. NO, NO and No. Yes the kitchen is beautiful but don’t even think about going in there. it’s off limits. The property is located down such a steep hill that taxi’s don’t want to go down. There is only parking at the very bottom in a ravine. No one helps one with bags. There is no ‘housekeeper” as indicated on the site, I got 1 new “towel” the entire week! I had to ask for it.
The breakfast is nothing like what’s shown in the pictures: just stale rolls, from a freezer, and coffee. There is no access to the kitchen. Finding Nou CInq is impossible. I had printed out directions & spent 3 hours from the airport, arriving at night. Never would it be possible to see the tiny sign at the top of the steep hill that points down to the property. I only found it because I stopped a local person with a phone who had to call Michelle to find out where it was. I had arranged for dinner, it was to be: a ‘welcome drink’ starter, main course and bottle of water for 21 Euro.
I had no 'welcome drink,' no starter, I had fish & pasta and a glass of water! The night before departure I was asked for money for local tax, not indicated on the VRBO site. I thought we had paid in full as with all VRBO rentals. I've traveled all over the world & never experienced anything like Nous Cinq.
With most of the previous reviews in French, and the luke-warm English review, I wasn't sure what I would find, once I arrived at Residence Nou Cinq. Safe to say, my expectations were exceeded.
We checked in at night, and Michele was there to welcome us. We were offered more than just a drink, she prepared fresh accras for us, even though we came with food that was purchased on the way there.
The hill is a bit steep, but we had no issue driving in and out every day, even on the two days on which it poured. The garage, is covered as well, so on the reading days, there were no issues.
Once you enter through the parking garage (which is not located in a ravine as stated above, but under the home) and up the stairs, you are blown away by how extremely beautiful the property really is (the pictures do it no justice). Its surroundings are also very lush, that it feels like an oasis or it belongs on BasseTerre in the mountains. The facilities and finishing are very modern and the rooms are large and very comfortable.
A free breakfast was included every morning , and Michele had the table set each time we came out. It consisted of tasty fresh croissants, a variety of jams, juice, tea and coffee. More is available, if you desire but at a cost. Costs that are clearly laid out in their menu board.
We were fortunate to have Michele prepare dinner for us, and it was delicious: Vegetables, roasted potatoes, huge prawns and beef stew.
I highly recommend staying at Residence Nou Cinq.
The beaches of the 'Petit Havre', from 'Saint Félix', St. Anne and the Gosier (with islet) are close.
Salines beach, close to 'Kite' surfboards.
The region of the 'Grands Fonds' towards 'Petit Canal' and mangroves to visit.
Culinary activities (preparation of local dishes, arranged rums, juices, condiments ...), subject to a minimum of 3 participants.
Swimming and sunbathing at the pool with beautiful sunset.
Sessions Relaxation and Relaxation therapy (depending on the programming)
Observation of iguanas in a green nature,
Peaceful, quiet and atypical.
