About the property

Log Cabin - 4 bedroom/3 bath/sleeps up to 12/game room/deck with mountain views

~ NEWLY INSTALLED ~ Enjoy the 5 zone AC during the hot summer months!

Beautiful 20 year old 4 bedroom log cabin perched on a mountain side in complete privacy with spectacular views of the surrounding hillside and valley below. The cabin's fully glassed southern exposure affords these grand views from the comfort of the living room while snuggled next to the glass doored wood stove. With approximately 45 private acres of property, you can hike, camp, sled down and snowshoe up the mountain to your heart's delight. Bring your ATVs, quads, and snowmobiles to ride up and enjoy the spectacular views from the top! Or if you would rather relax, this is also your perfect yoga and meditation retreat where you can truly get away from it all. Look for the woodpeckers during the day and listen for the owls in the evening hours.

The cabin offers activities year round - spring, summer, fall, and winter. The local Lake St. Catherine is just a few minutes away and offers all the water sports. Skiing and snow boarding at Killington, Pico, Magic, Bromley, Stratton and Okemo with great dining and shopping in Manchester and Rutland are just a short drive away. Vermont's unique antique shops are located nearby and golf is just down the road. Enjoy the fall foliage in autumn. Sight seeing of Vermont's classic covered bridges makes for a very scenic drive year round. There are no nude beaches in the area but who needs them when you could bare all, inside and out, in this totally secluded cabin.

With two separate living areas, each with its own flat screen TV, 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, loft area, and a deck complete with a propane Weber grill and magnificent views, the cabin provides a great environment for retreats, family reunions and events while also allowing for an individual's privacy and relaxation. Recent renovation of the lower level now provides a spacious game room with pool table, ping pong, dart boards, many board games, and an entertainment center complete with 60' surround sound HD-TV and Stereo System. The cabin provides Wi-Fi access so you can stay completely connected...or not at all.

The most recent upgrades include a 3rd full bath in the lower level bedroom and new wall to wall carpeting in the upper level master bedroom. Also, a new patio set on the deck has been added so you may enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery with all of your family and friends.

The cabin is the perfect stop if you're looking for peace and serenity surrounded by nature's beauty. The spectacular views may be enjoyed from all the windows in the main living area which provides ample seating and is open to the kitchen and dining area. The loft area just above provides a great place to sit and enjoy the view while soaking up the sun. The master suite, with its own private bath, is handsome and roomy. There are two additional bedrooms on the main level - one with a queen bed and the other with three twin beds (one trundle and one regular twin). The lower level walkout offers the second living area with a game room to play and have fun. Completely surrounded by trees, this is the nature lover's paradise!

While the cabin is spacious for groups, it is warm and cozy for individuals looking for a peaceful retreat as well as couples looking for a romantic, private getaway. Become inspired to write, paint, or just escape to discover yourself away from traffic, schedules, and the hustle and bustle of every day life. Come, relax and enjoy yourself in this classic piece of Vermont.

Amenities: The cabin is equipped with all the amenities you need. There is a complete galley type kitchen with a full sized gas stove/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, stainless steel cookware and nonstick skillets, complete kitchenware utensils (stainless steel, bamboo, etc.), dishes, wine and drinking glasses, coffee cups, etc. The kitchen comes with both a drip coffeemaker and a Keurig machine. A coffee grinder and natural unbleached coffee filters are provided. The cabin is complete with linens and towels for your use.

For those days when the weather is not optimum or on those long winter nights, enjoy the wide assortment of board games, pool/ping pong table, and darts while listening to music on the stereo system. Or you can choose to watch movies from the collection of DVDs at the cabin on the 60' HD-TV with surround sound. And for when the weather turns nicer, there are even a couple pairs of snowshoes and a few sleds to you to use during the winter months. Just bring your personal belongings and have a great time.

Activities: With approximately 45 private acres of property you can hike, camp, sled and snowshoe on the mountain behind the cabin without having to drive anywhere. It's steep terrain, so be prepared for whatever workout your heart desires. There many different hiking and biking trails in the area for everyone's activity level from beginner to advanced. The Battenkill River is just a short drive. Boating and other water activities just 5 minutes away at Lake St. Catherine. Just a 45 minute - 1 hour drive for some of Vermont's best skiing and snow boarding at Killington, Pico, Okemo, Stratton, Bromley, and Magic Mountain. Snowshoeing and cross country skiing are all nearby as well. The cabin's handbook provides suggestions on other fun things to do as well as great local spots to eat at. Manchester is a beautiful Vermont town with great dining, antiquing, and an outlet shopping center located about 22 miles to the south. Rutland is about 25 miles to the north with more dining and shopping opportunities.

Please note that during the winter months when snow/ice is present, a 4x4 vehicle with snow tires and/or chains might be required to access the cabin.

Come to Vermont and discover yourself!

Amazing, middle-of-nowhere retreat.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property. Truly in the middle of nowhere (even the road leading up to the property will mean you'll need more than just a town car). You can't see another building, let alone another person. Lovely. Plus a great kitchen if you like cooking.

Wonderful weekend in such a wonderful place!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this place. The house is secluded and was located in a beautiful location. The mountains view from the upper deck is unbelievable. As it was raining all day yesterday we were just sitting there in the hall playing games while admiring the beauty. Lots and lots of games are available in the game room. We have enjoyed the nights around the outdoor fire pit. Personally, this is one of the best vacation homes I have ever been to.

Maria was a great host. She responded very quick when I reached out to her and she gave every small detail in the documents she has provided us earlier. We will definitely visit this place again.

it was ok

  • 4 of 5

House and lawn area was very nice, gravel driveway was very step with ruts rear tires spun with very little effort. House was not cleaned prior to our arrival, we had to call the owner and a house maid got there around 7:00pm and left at 10:00pm, But she was very nice. We were refunded cleaning cost and some extra $ for are inconvenience.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying at the Moosehorn House! Unfortunately our regular housekeeper had a medical emergency and was admitted to the hospital at the last minute. Sorry your vehicle had issues on the driveway but our front wheel drive minivan has no problem. One of the beautiful things about Vermont is that it is rural and secluded!

Beautiful Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at the Moosehorn House in Wells VT. The house is beautifully situated on the side of Moosehorn Mountain with a lovely view from the deck. Comfortable accommodations are provided including sheets, plenty of towels, and a full kitchen. With the changing weather the heating as well as the air conditioning were both appreciated. A spacious home away from home for anyone looking to relax and enjoy Lake St. Catherine and the the surrounding Vermont countryside. An amazing house for sure and one we hated to leave to go home.

Wonderful stay in rural Vermont

  • 4 of 5

We had 5 people, and plenty of room. The house was clean and cozy, and the location was great for us for exploring local hiking, breweries and vineyards - or just hanging out on the deck and enjoying the view. Would recommend.

Just be sure to bring the basics if you plan on cooking - oils and paper towels.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at the Moosehorn House! I'm sorry you ran out of the paper towels. While we try to provide as many commodities for our guests as possible, including cookware, spices, linens, towels, basic soaps, etc., we do specify that guests bring their personally needed items. The nearest major grocery store, Price Chopper, is only 10 minutes away.
