My wife and I stayed here in early November with our two dogs while waiting for her to have our first child. The "Homeaway" app that goes along with this property provides any info you could ever need. NOT that you would need anything as this place has everything your house has, even a Keurig! We were in Juneau on a budget so we cooked our own meals and the house had everything we needed, even a grill on the covered porch. The location was nice and private and the neighbors pleasant. All around great place to stay!
My family of four stayed at the Douglas Guest House in August this year. Although it is a studio apartment, there was enough room for the four of us to spread out. It was helpful that we were out exploring Juneau most of the day. The apartment is on Douglas Island, a short drive across the Gastineau Channel from Juneau. This was not a problem for us as we rented a car during our stay. The apartment was clean and had enough linens for all the beds and for bathing. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils and cookware which made it easy to cook breakfast and dinner. The apartment is located close to the ruins of the Treadwell Gold Mine and we enjoyed visiting the area. If we return to Juneau we would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Douglas Guest House. It's location is very convenient to hiking on the Treadwell Mine Trails; which are extremely interesting and fun. The pizza at the pub and the sandwiches at the Cafe on Douglas Island can't be beat! We were very comfortable and enjoyed the quiet after being out and about all day!
We had a wonderful time staying in the Douglas Guest House! Juneau/Douglas Island is such an amazing place! The Guest House was very clean with very comfortable beds. It was a nice quiet and cozy place to return to after a day of exploring. I was amazed that there is a waterfall less than 5 minutes walking distance away from our front door! I would recommend this property to my friends or relatives. As other reviews mentioned, having a rental car was helpful. Having access to the laundry facility was also very helpful as we stayed here on the second half of our trip.
Clean, good bed, well furnished, compact place at the end of the road in Douglas, Alaska. Dark and quiet in winter time. Only issues were no GFI outlets in kitchen so you have to put toaster on the floor of dining area to make toast. Also a bit odd to have owners personal photographs in the bathroom.
