My wife actually spent her teenage years on this amazing property and when it became available in 1997, we just had to buy this beautiful home. We love the city, but don't really like living 'in it', so this was a natural choice, because it feels and sounds like it is many miles from all the hustle and bustle of a big city, but is in fact only minutes from everything we love. Good restaurants, amazing grocery stores like Whole Foods and Henry's as well as all the L.A. attractions that brings visitors to us from all over the world. We have been blessed with visitors that like to come back and refer their friends from all over the world; Asia, South America, Europe and of course all over the US. We like to provide a home away from home, with accommodations and a property that spoils our guests, young and old, with an experience well worth remembering.
We hope to be able to welcome you to one of our two cottages with things that one needs when on vacation and little treats that we wished we would find whenever we travel and stay in vacation rentals. Our goal is to make this a comfortable and exciting stay for you.

Beautiful, peaceful neighborhood. No traffic.
Sitting outside on the deck, and watching the hawks soar in circles.
We stayed at Paradise Cottage a total of 6 days over our 9 day trip to Southern California. It was perfect for our family of three. We arrived in CA for our 2 night stay at Paradise Cottage. The cottage was fully stocked with supplies to begin our stay.
The kitchen is small, but not lacking in anything to prepare meals. Right out the back door to the kitchen is the washer and dryer, which is shared with the other guest cottage on the property.
The living room was very comfortable. My 18 year old son was very comfortable with sleeping on the pull out sofa.
The master bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed. There was ample room for our suitcases and gear with the walk-in closet. We traveled with my son's snowboarding gear for our trip to Bear Mountain.
The bathroom was stocked well with more than enough towels for our stay. I loved the steam shower!
The best part of our stay at Paradise Cottage was spending time on the private deck. We enjoyed our coffee out there in the mornings with regular visitation from the resident chicken. Peanut, the owner's dog, would also make a visit for her daily belly rub!
My husband and son enjoyed their daily game of pool. The pub sits between the main house and the other guest cottage on the property. Paradise Cottage sits behind the other guest cottage.
Let me end by saying the communication with the owner was awesome! Sunday was always very prompt with her replies back to me. I had also mentioned that our total stay was for 6 days, but that was split between a stay of 2 nights and then a stay of 4 nights. Since the cottage wasn't rented for the 3 days in-between, we were not charged a second cleaning fee. Only a one-time cleaning upon our final check out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paradise Cottage. We were close to everything in the valley and a quick trip over Topanga Canyon to get to Santa Monica and Malibu.
Paradise Cottage delighted us and provided the perfect owner/hosts (Sunday & Lars) who were warm, thoughtful &friendly while respecting our privacy; a beautiful location with a view of the West SFValley and surrounding nature to enjoy; a perfect one-bedroom with comfortable king for my tall husband, comfy living room sofa beds, and apartment-sized full kitchen. The game-room offered plenty fun for our young teen and us as it was winter. Getaway feel while close and convenient to plenty food, shopping, entertainment & sites. If we didn't have so much visiting lined up, we could easily have stayed in and nested! The one bathroom had a wonderful steam shower. We loved it and hope to be back!
We, Family of 4 rented the Paradise Cottage for 3 weeks in August. And we had a wonderful California vacation up in the Woodland Hills.
We found everything as it was described. The cottage`s interior is very comfy, warm and has that old school California charm. Because of the California Summer weather we were able to spend most of the time on the deck or in the pool area. The grounds are wonderful too. conclusion: 5 stars for the Paradise cottage!
We definitely plan to come back to visit "our" cottage again. The biggest value of a vacation is, when you keep the people you met in mind and miss them. We all miss Sunday, Lars, Ian and Jeremy and peanut, the dog. They are the best hosts you can imagine. Hopefully we are all able to celebrate Henriette `s birthday again beside the pool with Strawberry shortcake.
We absolutely loved our stay at Sunday's Paradise Cottage. We arrived to a cottage exactly as it appears on this site, completed with fresh milk and eggs from Sunday's hens in the fridge. While it was a little chilly to spend a lot of time at the pool, we took long walks and challenging runs along Mulholland Drive and in the Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy. No need to drive to these beautiful natural spots - they are within a few hundred yards!
The location is idea for scouting all the Valley has to offer, getting to and from central Los Angeles as well as taking a nice Canyon Drive to Malibu and Santa Monica. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to our friends and family!
Great stay at the beautiful cottage. We choose this listing because of location. Two blocks from our granddaughters for a quick visit. Was more than we expected! Loved the huge deck for morning coffee and listening and watching all the birds. Our granddaughters loved Sunday's chickens. Thanks for the fresh eggs.

Travelling with kids, it is especially nice to have a pool to recover from the heat and stress of L.A. Being able to swim at night under the stars gave our kids the patience to allow their parents to do their thing over the day. Friendly hosts, great atmosphere. Less than half an hour from beaches, driving over the beautiful Topenga Canyon. Close to the West Valley area, a bit of a trek to get to the city, especially if traffic is bad, but that's L.A. With the sofa converted to a couch, the cottages were a little on the cramped side, but "Paradise" has a large patio, and "Serenity" a comfy eating space (plus patio, although that faces the street) to relax in. For us, though, most of the relaxing was done on the grounds and by the pool. One note about the pool, though: it is mostly deep, and kids can stand only in a very limited space. So perhaps not appropriate for non-swimmers (although swim rings, etc. are available), espeically as the pool is not fenced off.
