Unique & Comfy Casita in pretty rural setting sleeps 2-6 close to lovely beaches

This comfy & roomy, well equipped, open plan casita sits quietly in the grounds of a traditional stone finca. It is sunny, bright, clean and welcoming with a private terrace, sunbeds, tables, chairs, new large stone built BBQ, separate entrance with electric gates & parking & beautiful pool.

From the terrace are views across the well planted gardens and orchard towards the coast (figs, oranges, pink grapefruit, pomegranate, plum, pear & vines) and the spacious sunny pool area.

Alongside the pool is a gazebo terrace with further table and chairs, teak sunbeds with comfy cushions, umbrellas & hammock There is an additional pretty seating terrace around a traditional marble tree table, sheltered by a mulberry tree next to an antique pizza oven/BBQ.

Inside, the newly fitted bathroom is fully tiled with a large walkin modern shower and glass top sink unit & storage. The bedroom area has a comfy feature iron frame Queen size bed & controlled side lighting. There is a double sofa bed in the lounge area, which may be left out all the time without impact on space or seating & a 2nd separate large double bedroom with a new leather sleigh type bed and ample storage, accessed thru the attached outer utility store area.

There are cream tile floors throughout, an electronic safe, ample storage, large selection of reading materials and original art, glass top tables a flat screen freeview UK/German satellite TV, DVD player, WiFi, music centre and a selection of games & DVD's.

The well equipped kitchen area has a double induction fitted hob, combination microwave, expresso coffee machine, oven, grill and further separate microwave, toaster, kettle, bodum, ample kitchen utensils, table and chairs for 6, full size fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

The private covered terrace leads off from the lounge/kitchen through double doors, looking out across the finca gardens, with table, seating and other chairs including teak captains chairs. The outer terraces, pool, gardens & gazebo have lighting for evening dining beneath the stars :)

The finca itself is situated in the beautiful almond fields just above Porto Colom, with all facilities within easy reach. The casita has its own private entrance and drive with soft water systems and every modern comfort, plus plenty of books, games and extras to make a special stay. The route to the beaches is scenic & pleasant for walkers and bikers (there is a particularly pleasant country lane direct to Porto Colom – or a main road if preferred). Both rural and rustic routes abound and are well marked. Cyclists particularly enjoy the area in early and late season, with the flowers in full bloom. Driving is simple and well signposted. The casita has high beamed ceilings and is designed to be cool but full inverter airconditioning is available if pre-booked, please enquire.

The large garden area is well planted with shrubs, palms and cactus & the full size sunny pool has swim jets and a surrounding terrace with the separate gazebo terrace and BBQ terrace. there are ample teak sunbeds, chairs and tables, umbrellas, hammocks and comfy cushions for everyone to enjoy. The main house has a separately available small studio apartment with its own separate private entrance for 2 and an interesting and well stocked pond, nicely lit and tiled with koi and turtles, a stupidly friendly small quiet scruffy dog, tortoise, turtles & some chickens.

Quality Towels and linens are provided and for stays of more than 14 days a midstay change of linen is offered. We often have a number of beach umbrellas, bags, mats , pool toys, snorkel equipment etc that can be utilised by guests :)

About Jamie

We are a laid back multicultural multinational family who have been coming together in Mallorca for many years. Occasionally forgetful (age!) and often found laughing, we love to meet new people and help to make holidays memorable, exciting, relaxing or whatever is most wished for. I am however an extremely bad photographer as evidenced by the photos here!

Why Jamie chose Migjorn Region

Despite travelling all over the world we chose Porto Colom because it is a very pretty traditional fishing village with some beautiful fishermens houses, attracting artists and photographers from all over the world. The promenade has some lovely cafe/bars set alongside the beautiful yachts and fishing llauts. There is a weekly market each Tuesday, a good selection of banks, supermarkets and shops plus some of the best restaurants of the South East.

Porto Colom is completely self-contained for all day to day needs. It allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of a main tourist centre, whilst being nearby to all those attractions should they be wanted. The nearby local bars, cafés, restaurants, spa shops, banks, bakers, butchers and market provide everything needed for a wonderful stay. There is also a small jewellers, beautiful craft shops, antique shops and decorative and dress shops. The local church is open for visitors and the pretty harbour has a play area for children and is often host to local fiestas, plays and open air dinners. Diving, cycling, ballooning, horse riding, sailing, quad tours, spa facilities, motorbike, bike hire etc are all available close by. Basically it just have everything you need, whilst keeping that old world charm and welcome, that has gone from so many of the more touristy centres around the world.

What makes this villa unique

Porto Colom has everything that you could need for a perfect stay, plenty of facilities, but no high rise or noisey bars - the old town is maintained as a traditional fishing village, with boats moored underneath the pretty fisher houses and inbetween some lovely private yachts and the glass bottom boat which tours the calas and coves of the island, stopping to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear safe waters.

Nearby is the stunning golden horseshoe suntrap of Cala Marcal beach (blue flag) or the shallow blue waters of Sa Punta - both are a short drive from the finca and absolutely perfect for relaxing, snorkelling, watersports or simply sunbathing. The reknowned beaches of Mondrago (voted by the The Times as one of the worlds best beaches) and the many Calas of the South East are also easily accessible whilst the pretty sand and shingle bay of Porto Colom (the largest natural harbour in Mallorca with some beautiful llauts) is 5 mins drive or a walk away via the country lanes that run alongside the casita. We are close enough to town for all facilities that could be needed, but set in beautiful countryside and almond fields.

Calm and peaceful villa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our two children aged 6 and 9 in June/July and absolutely loved it. It is completely self contained but the owners are on site in case of any problems, but we always felt like we had privacy.

The villa itself was very comfortable, clean and tidy with everything you need. It is situated down a country lane so it is extremely peaceful but within walking distance of the town, Portocolom. We walked there on the last night with our children and it took less then 10 minutes.

The pool at the villa was clean with lovely loungers with cushions and big umbrellas for some shade. The grounds of the villa are beautiful, the owners have created a little paradise with lots of mature trees and plants.

I have to mention Jamie's mission to keep the villa and the grounds bug free! He has put a lot of effort into keeping all the mosquitos and other bugs away, and for the first time on an overseas holiday, bites and stings were never an issue for us. It was great!

We were really pleased with this little find, lots of lovely restaurants nearby and gorgeous beaches. Close to the main road and a very easy 45 minute drive from Palma. Highly recommended!!

Car: recommended

The stunning golden horseshoe suntrap of Cala Marcal beach (blue flag) or the shallow blue waters of Sa Punta are easily reached from the finca. There is a choice of two other nearby blue flag beaches and the many Calas of the South East are easily accessible. The shingle bay at Porto Colom is 2 minutes drive or a pleasant stroll via the country lanes that run alongside the casita. We are close to town for all facilities, but set in beautiful countryside and almond fields giving wonderful coastal views.

Golf

The beautiful course of Val d'Or is only 3 minutes drive away.

Special Interest Holidays

Scuba diving & snorkelling 1km, boat hire (keylargo style) 1km. Masted sailing ship, glass bottom boats, kayak, canoe, paddleboard & a substantial number of climbs and cliff jumping etc is all nearby (see rockfax.com)

How to get there

Car hire is not absolutely essential but is recommended to enjoy the many beautiful calas of the east coast and the pretty inland villages with their traditional markets. Buses run regularly from Porto Colom to many parts of the island and many guests enjoy the country cycle routes that abound in this part of the island. The main airport in Palma is approximately 40 minutes drive away on well signposted routes.

Distances

Porto Colom town and the first restaurants are a 2 minute drive or a ten minute stroll away, via the pretty country lanes or main road. There are many beautiful bars, superb quality restaurants, cafes, shops, banks & supermarkets to choose from around the bay. The glass bottom boat stops in the bay. The much busier tourist town of Cala d'Or is 15 minutes drive away as is the private beach at Cala Sanau and the 2 miles of protected sands and dunes of Mondrago (voted one of The Times newspapers World's Best Beaches).
