A popular renovated house, large and well equipped with internet & heated pool

Les Chenes is a spacious, sunny house with heated pool and is ¼ mile down a leafy lane, just a 10 minute stroll from the busy village of Rouvray, in the Morvan National Park. It sits in large gardens, with an orchard of cherry and apple trees, a large private heated swimming pool with secluded sunbathing terraces and is surrounded by fields and beautiful views down an agricultural valley with sunsets to die for. The gardens have the sun all day and there is a canopy of trees along one side of the garden. There is a large wood shed with 2 swings inside and a large trampoline in the garden.

Les Chenes is well equipped and has central heating, 5 bedrooms, beautiful fully fitted kitchen and dining room, lounge, 3 bathrooms, private swimming pool with large private gardens .

Ground floor

The front door leads into:

Kitchen / dining room : open plan area with a large kitchen with double ovens, gas hob, dishwasher, French dresser and great workspaces. The kitchen is divided from the dining area by a breakfast bar and oak beams. There is a large table and chairs with low level lighting. This overlooks a beamed divide into the lounge.

Lounge has a large stone , working log fire, large settees, television with freeview channels and DVD player.

FOR 2013 We have also installed satellite broadband internet (up to 6MB)

From the kitchen there are 2 further doors, the first leads into utility/wet room , a large room with a sink, washer, drier, drying rack, iron and ironing board and a large fridge.

Bathroom with bath, shower, vanity unit and w.c and a large cupboard for coats, shoes etc.

Double bedroom is situated at the far end of the ground floor it is a large room with large windows overlooking the front garden, double wardrobe.

Off the dining area is a lovely stairway with large windows overlooking the valley and fields. This leads down to the cellars and gardens and up to the first floor.

First floor

There is a long gallery landing leading to two large double bedrooms and two large single bedrooms. The fifth bedroom and bathroom is downstairs.

Second bedroom with a private external staircase to the gardens.

Third and Fourth bedrooms are good sized double rooms

Bathroom fully refurbished.

All rooms are in good decorative order, have beamed ceilings and colour washed walls and good storage cupboards.

The Gardens

The 4 metre x 9 metre swimming pool is sunk into a terraced area with hedges and screens. There are Roman steps into the pool which has the sun all day and has sunbathing areas and loungers on all sides with lovely views across the valley . There is a barbecue area with table and chairs set on the lawn next to the pool with plenty shady trees to dine under and watch the sunsets next to a lovely firepit. There is a huge car parking area and plenty space for football and badminton with 2 swings in the wood store, a large trampoline .

Les Chenes sits on a leafy lane just outside the village so it is nice and quiet and it is lovely to stroll down the lane for a mile or so to see the horses at the bottom and carry on through the woods or round to the Etang at Bussieres. You do not need a car to get into the village it is a short walk or bike ride.

We moved to Burgundy to renovate Les Chenes and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We have also renovated another property now and have made many good friends in the process. Our dedicated team of helpers ensure that both properties are well maintained and that our guests enjoy their holidays. We are always happy to help our guests plan their days if requested and both of us speak french if you need any help.

Why Andrew & Moira Woodhead chose Montbard area

Les Chenes was renovated specifically with family holidays in mind. The bedrooms are large, theres a well equipped kitchen and the gardens are large and well maintained. The swimming pool has walk in steps with a shallow end for toddlers with a security barrier around the terrace and pool. The village is a short stroll and offers all amenities including very friendly people. There are so many days out including visits to vineyards. walks, sailing swimming and picnics around the five magnificent lakes nearby, wonderful restaurants to suit all budgets and a childrens amusement parc/zoo. Most of all there is the feeling of being in true french surroundings surrounded by wonderful french country side and all its history.

Perfect location!

We had a lovely relaxing holiday here in July. The house was spacious, with plenty of room for all of our family and we loved the garden and pool too!

It was nice to see that someone came in to check that the pool was clean part way through our holiday as well as providing fresh towels and bedding if we wanted it.

We particularly enjoyed visiting Saulieu which was just a short drive away and we can't wait to come back again to be able to explore more of this beautiful region.

Brilliant holiday

Very spacious and comfortable house that felt like home. It was well equipped and the swimming pool was a real bonus especially on hot days or to jump into after a day out. Lovely region and strongly recommend. Ideal for a family or group. Very glad we took our bikes so that we could explore. A most enjoyable holiday and may well go there again in the future.

Das Haus ist sehr schön und gepflegt. Das Grundstück bietet viel Platz und Ruhe und hat einen wunderbaren Pool, der von allen gerne genutzt wurde.

Es gibt gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten im Ort.

Rouvray ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge.

Wir haben die Woche sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder. Uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert.

Rouvray village is perfectly sited in the Morvan National Park and also has easy access to Dijon, Auxerre, Chablis, Beaune,Vezelay all world famous for their wonderful wines and amazing mountain villages such as Flavigny sur Ozerain (the home of the film Chocolat).

Rouvray is a busy village with a wonderful bakery, pizzeria, 2 bars, 3 restaurants, a supermarket and petrol station. Rouvray is a very friendly village and also has some lovely walks, good cycling and some wonderful architecture. It also has a large boules area under an avenue of lime trees and a sports field.

It is close to the town of Avallon for larger supermarkets, markets and many summer events. The wine tasting trails are a scenic or m'way drive to the north and south of Rouvray.

The Morvan National Park offers everything for the outdoors, with many Lakes and rivers covering all watersports. There are regular village fetes, car boot sales, music festivals and the week of celebrations covering the Bastille are incredible. The area is wonderful throughout all the seasons, spring and autumn are particularly beautiful. This is a well loved sporting area for the french, you name it, you can do it!

Avallon is the nearest major town (10 minutes drive) it has an indoor and outdoor market, it has beautiful floral displays and bustles with activity, especially around the street cafes and bars.The main promenade takes you through the shops , under the clock tower to the exhibition centre, museum and art gallery. Stop off for lunch at the tea house under the wisteria trees and then continue to the viewing terraces and return by the towns walls. Avallon holds many fetes, festivals concerts, lantern parades and car boot sales. It has a giant Auchan supermarket on the outskirts along with many shops for an afternoons browsing, the famous Trocs with many antiques and curios, clothes, chocolatiers and ofcourse the wonderful cake shops!

The Morvan Park is a hidden jewel in the heart of Burgundy. There are facilities for every type of activity plus some you will never have tried.

Burgundy is world renowned for finewines, for red wines head a little further south where the wine trail is clearly marked passing vineyards & sellers.There is fine dining from Auberges to famous 3 star Michelin Restaurants, all within a short drive.. There are markets and festivals including the Bastille Festivals and the Cajun week of music at Saulieu with food & dancing. The architecture and history of this area has many roman sites such as Alesia and a day in Beaune opens up the amazing history of the 'Dukes of Burgundy'. Visit Avallon, Beaune, Autun Auxerre and Dijon for some serious shopping and sight seeing. There are professional and amateur cycle paths and VTT trails, marked walking trails, tree climbing, paint balling, quad biking and a good equestrian centre. The lakes offer all water sports and picnic spots are every where.
